There's a cafe in my office but it has a very limited menu and during exclusive building functions they aren't always open when I need caffeine to get through the day. I got a 16oz matcha latte that was maybe not as warm as I was expecting but it was pretty cold out so that could be more of a perception issue. Still, it was good enough that I wouldn't shy away from getting it again. It's inside the lobby of a building at the corner of Howard and 2nd and there doesn't seem to be any exterior signage, though you can peer in the large glass exterior window walls and see that something interesting is happening at the counter. On the occasions that I work from home in SF, I like to try different coffee shops but so few in this city have free wifi and outlets - so glad I found this Equator because it offers both! Also, beautiful interior with high ceilings and lots of open space. Would be a great place for chats over coffee. I got the shakerato here. Tasted pretty good, I can't complain, but this review is basically for the experience. "Hi" "How can I help you?" "What would you like today?" "Thank you, have a great day!" That is everything I didn't hear, while I waited in line, gave my order, and waited for my drink. Are these required? No, but it makes a difference. I want to give a better rating and perhaps I will in the future, but for today, based on my experience, I'm only giving it 2 stars. Even the people at Starbucks and Peet's coffee say "Hi". There is no outside signage for Equator since it is located deep inside the LinkedIn public space, which makes it seem secretive. But more people should find out about this place since their coffees and teas are on point! They also have specialty drinks called Shakeratos, which are shaken with cream. I love their iced matcha latte with oat milk. They don't offer soy milk, but have almond milk as well. The lines can get pretty long since it is a small shop, but it goes quickly since a barista usually walks along the line taking orders to speed up the ordering and checkout process. read more

Great coffee and selection of local/real food. The drip coffee has the best quality:price ratio in the area (quality is on par with Blue Bottle, Sightglass, etc.), and you get a $0.25 discount for bringing your own cup. I've tried some of their pastries and they were all good. I'm a big fan of overnight oats but unfortunately their version contains too much added sugar for me. Great location inside the public area of the LinkedIn building. It's kind of hidden around the corner. I wanted to try them out when they first opened and to my surprise they were giving coffee away for free all day as their grand opening. I ordered a cold brew which was somewhat expensive, but comparable to other small coffee shops in the area. Their drinks are on par with the competition so it might be hard to steal away regulars from Soma Eats, the small shop across the street, or even Starbucks. The workers were very friendly and overall it was in a nice environment. A little pricey for me, but I will probably come by every now and then. read more

Hibiscus iced tea! So pink and pretty and yummy. They have cashew milk, which is new to my vegan/dairy free friends, so that's pretty cool. It's tastier than any other milk sub I've tried. Cold brew is good and they have baked goods from Jane, so get the banana bread. Because it's the right thing to do. Updated experience - 3 stars: Barista charged me $5 for an iced matcha latte despite the menu board saying $4 They also charge $1.50 for cashew milk, which is quite steep. They don't put the price on the menu board. So I'm feelin a bit bitter about this $6.50 beverage right now. read more

Very very impressed by this new edition to our block. They move quickly through the line (so don't let that dissuade you one bit) and they have great options for non coffee drinkers. I recommend the London Fog or the cold pressed juices. And the indoor and outdoor options are decent. However the outdoor is a heavily trafficked area so be cognizant of that. read more

Some of the best coffee backed by a great mission. Staff is always friendly. Equator is one of the few places that can make a great mocha - not that overly sweet syrupy mess. Smaller grab and go bites available and soon they'll start selling beer and half bottles of wine. If you're not lucky enough to snag a table there's always plenty of seating on the stadium steps in the LinkedIn public space, which is nice and open and pretty chill. read more

Excellent excellent coffee. Did I mention it was excellent ? I usually need sugar with my coffee but their decaf Cappucino is so good, I do it without sugar. I get tempted to put in sugar but then I take a sip and the world changes : no way am I corrupting this with sugar. They have free wifi in the open space and you can chill and work there if you like. There are a few good options around this area like Red Door, Galvanize, Working Girls (whch I found by accident was really good as I wasn't expecting that) But Equator takes the cake though. read more

To start, I love Equator's location. It's just a few blocks away from where I live and on days where I have the morning to myself, it's a breezy walk to 2nd street. As many have said, it's in the lobby of the LinkedIn building, but you can certainly get in without any special clearance. If you work in SoMa this is a great spot to come get your coffee fix and maybe relax in LinkedIn's public space. They even have a few power outlets and plenty of seating. Come on a nice warm day and they open big sections of the exterior wall to make this a very pleasant open air space. If you drink too much coffee and need the restroom it's hidden behind the baristas but you'll need the code so ask first! I'm not usually in the City, but stopped here recently on the way from the Ferry to a conference. Ordered a large latte I believe. I had a choice of two roasts; I picked one and she said "that one's 50 cents more, is that OK?" "Just give me the other one then." The coffee when it came was one of the poorest I've ever had. It seemed like hot milk with nothing else. I couldn't tell for sure that it even contained coffee. It didn't taste terrible if you're looking for warm milk, but that's not what I was after. I'm very surprised that a place gets by selling such weak coffee to the surrounding tech companies. Surely the employees must mostly make their own. read more

I can't imagine a more beautiful space to drink a coffee: white marble stadium seating, teak tables and walls, and frank stella art! The staff is so friendly, they knew the names of everyone in line and were super friendly to me even though this isn't my regular spot. The line was long but moved very quickly, and my drinks were made super fast. I was in the mood for iced coffee when I was here. Equator coffee is conveniently located at Linkedin's open space, which is a fantastic area to just sit and relax or study for a while. They offer free wifi and the breeze is pleasant on nice days. I came to Equator grumpy at the end of the day not having eaten, and I was even grumpier when I found out that they were out of the bacon & cheese quiche I'd ordered AFTER I'd paid for it. But you'll note: my review gives them 5 stars. Despite all the shenanigans, as soon as my replacement quiche was ready, things began to change. It was SO AIRY and such a GENEROUS portion. To get such a rich and delicious meal for under $10 in this part of town is really a treat. I can't speak to the coffee, but the quiche and the vanilla steamer are delicious. Do recommend. read more

I love Equator coffee and prefer it over the other hipster coffee brands like Ritual, Sightglass, etc. Lots of great breakfast options too - the chai pudding is delish. Best coffee that I've EVER had, hands down. I usually have to add sugar and cream to my espresso to offset the bitterness, etc. This is not the case with Equator's beans/blend. The taste is so smooth that I can enjoy it straight. That said, once I discovered the 'Shakerato' my life was changed forever. I must go have one a 3PM every day or my day is less than awesome. read more
