Erewhon feels upscale and can be intimidating. When I first got into health, I loved this place, but then I explored other health markets... Other places like sprouts, lazy acres, and Clark's all gave me a better vibe and feeling. The erewhon in LA is small, meaning everything is packed so densely. And with covid, it feels very claustrophobic... the eating and sitting area outside is very nice though, great place for a lunch break. I've been to other erewhons and they are larger and less cramped, so the LA one may just be a one off, which is understandable cuz LA. My three biggest pet peeves about this place are the price, the lack of fresh produce, and the lack of nutrition facts. Pricing. I understand eating healthy costs more. But I can literally find the same items at Sprouts/Lazy Acres/clarks for less... same exact products. Lack of fresh produce. Their produce looks AMAZING. I cannot fault them there. Fresh, looks juicy, and very inviting. I just wish they had more options and variety. Even a non-organic section for shoppers looking to not spend so much would be good. Lack of nutrition facts. Erewhon makes a lot of their own food, and I REALLY want to try them out, but I never see any nutrition facts on there, it's a big bummer. Even if something is marketed as keto friendly, there's nothing telling me how much protein/carb/sugars in there to make it keto friendly. Id give this place a try, but with cautious. You could end up spending a lot of lonely. Something id love to try would be their freshly prepared food. The sandwiches and options they have looks amazingly delicious. I've only ever been to this location and the one in Venice (before it became overhyped). Luckily it's only a 5 min drive from my brother's. Smoothies are good, depending on which one you get. Erewhon is a millennial's Disneyland. It's like a Whole Foods on crack. My wallet hurts a little, but you can't put a price tag on overpriced salads. For a $25 smoothie and touting health and wellness benefits of their products and offerings, it sure seems counterproductive and stressful to the customer to have to get annoyed and stressed out from waiting almost 50 mins for a goddamn smoothie... Erewhon, you're busy and good on you, but your company needs to expand your tonic bar with more employees to keep up with demand...so customer service issues such as this doesn't occur as you are riding a wave of success now, but if this keeps up, no business is immune to getting cancelled. read more

When I heard about this small market in LA that was the ultimate grocer, I knew I would be in for a treat. Grocery shopping is my jam! Super edited and pretty much all organic. Organized and helpful floor staff. Customer restroom is in the front of the store, next to the juices, behind the wooden door. Anything healthy you can think of seriously is here. It's great that they carry their own line of food and drinks. They even have a juice and tonic bar where they give samples. The only reason I am writing this review is because of the amount of dog owners that bring their dogs into the store. Today I witnessed a dog do a poop in the store and the shop workers clean it up. I myself am a dog owner and lover dogs however, there is a place and time for dogs and a grocery store which also serves food and drink shouldn't be letting dogs in. There had to have been a minimum of 6-8 dogs in the busy store today. It's disgusting to see dog poop in a store and listen to dogs yelping and barking in a food store. The service here is amazing! I love how all of the workers are happy to answer your questions and help you with anything that you need. I was feeling a little sick so I came here for the juice bar. I got the Golden Latte and Big Green. I also got a shot of the Golden Force. My goodness... the Golden Force tasted good when I drank it. It was only after that I felt the burn. The Big Green tasted really good. My Golden Latte was a little on the strong side in terms of the turmeric and ginger. I had a taste of their gluten free vegan bread. It was amazing. I wanted to buy a loaf but they were all sold out. The prices are pretty expensive but I can't argue on the quality of the food and products. I will definitely return to this market. I love Erewohn and the people working at the grove location!!! I just Dont like that they sell ground beef with cartilage in it. This has been going on for over a year now. Every time we give it a try it's cartilage in it. We definitely have to buy our ground beef at other stores. Hoping this post will make them change it. Apparently, you have to be a member to get dissent service at this location. Ordered mango smoothie online to pick it up. Got there, got my smoothie. And it was disgusting and extremely sweet. My favorite market for so many reasons. Literally everything I need is here. Major points for awesome market sushi. They have so many options, many of which are wild caught. You can even sample some of the options before purchasing. The staff at the juice bar are extremely helpful and informative and also really nice. Don't feel awkward asking them questions, you'll learn so much. The drinks are also fabulous. You can even try some coffee options for those who need that kinda kick in their day! As far as groceries go, even the guys working to keep the place fresh are knowledgeable in any questions you could have. Everything is usually fresh, very rarely that I've seen stuff that isn't. From meat, to supplements, to greens and vegan options. You can get lost in this store. I like to come on days where I have time to browse and find new things I can use in the kitchen, or even add to my daily use. Try it for yourself! Not sure how to feel about this place. I appreciate healthy and sustainable foods, dabble in keto, like supporting small businesses and local farmers, and enjoy trying new brands. This place is a mecca for all that. Lots of unique items that I've never seen anywhere else. Additionally, everything looked super fresh. Produce, deli, sushi. All picture perfect -- colorful, fresh, mouthwatering. It's not even the hipsterdom that gets me. Somewhere along the way, healthy food became trendy and I suppose that's not a bad thing. You'll see some cool and attractive folks here, for sure, which can be an experience in itself. What really gets me are the prices. Yes, you've got organic, natural, rare goods sold here. I totally understand the high price for certain items -- ones that are generally worth more. Fancy organic cheese? I get it. But a small box of kale chips for $11? Come on. I can make triple that amount of kale chips (I make kale chips at home regularly) for 1/3 that price. Prepared items (salad and sushi) cost $15+. If I wasn't broke, I would probably buy that stuff. It all looked high quality and like it was made with really fresh ingredients (likely organic). Possibly worth the price tag? However, even if money was not an issue, I don't think I'd ever spend $11 on kale chips on principle. That's an egregious overcharge. Anyway, it was genuinely difficult to find anything under $5 in the entire store which was a bit frustrating. If you want to shop at a trendy grocery store that has unique, health-oriented, and sustainable items and brands, you should. I wouldn't judge people for flocking here. Personally, I just can't get past the prices. I'll stick to Trader Joe's -- great selection, healthy and organic options, unique offerings -- all at totally affordable prices. The way they take care of the detail in showcasing the product was non equal to any place I've shop , I thought it was a movie set and looks perfect and later on taste even more perfect . The real highlights was when I ask for some product , I ask Oswaldo a worker who was so kind not only to show me where the product is he is also full of knowledge on some of the seasonal fruits I have always wondered. Very friendly and helpful. Also another employee was kind enough to help get more items that I was looking for all the way to the warehouse . It was truly a great day . I came to Erewhon after hearing how amazing the food and grocery selection is. I got lunch at the hot bar and everything looked good but when I got home to eat what I ordered, I was pretty disappointed. The chicken was ALL skin and barely any meat. I seriously had a good 1 oz of chicken after taking all of the skin off (picture attached). I paid 16$ for a chicken plate that barely had any chicken. I'm all for paying more for quality food but what I received far from quality. For my sides I got the roasted yams and strings beans and both were very good. I'm giving 3 stars because I loved the grocery store itself, but was just pretty disappointed in the meal I got. I do recommend getting the raw cinnamon roll treat in the refrigerator section. Service was pretty disappointing as well but what else do you expect in LA. The employees stocking the refrigerator sections seemed pretty annoyed when you wanted to get an item where they were stocking. I had to wait for a good 5 minutes to grab something because one employee wouldn't move after seeing me waiting to look at an item. I really enjoy going to grocery stores like these where you can find unique health-nut approved items and also get food & drinks to order. Too bad they're only located in specific parts of LA. They have a salad bar, sushi and soup you can purchase on the left side when you walk in. You don't need any help for that. However, for the hot food bar you do. You need to get a ticket and wait until they call your number. Then they'll help you get what you want or answer any questions you may have. For 1 entree and 2 sides it's $14.99 for a vegan combo plate. Other meat options vary by a dollar or two but it's in the same price range. I got the curried potatoes, shiitake mushroom stir fry noodles and butternut squash with tahini and all were so delicious. They make it fresh that day and constantly brings out steaming hot trays. The only thing I didn't like about the place were the people. At the hot food bar, the lady in front of me kept asking a worker if she can get 3 cold sides for the combo plate and the worker said they're not allowed to do that (you can only do hot only or hot & cold). She then said "can I speak to your supervisor" (lol typical, classic line to disrespect workers) who was actually right next to her. He said the same thing over to her and of course she got nothing out of it but kept the line waiting. Also when I was at the cashier about to say hi and pay for my food, another lady swerved right in front of me and cut me off! She was so confident and arrogant about it that neither I or the cashier didn't know what to do at the moment. I didn't want to cause a fight so I just let her be and the cashier apologized to me and told me she'll help me as soon as she is done helping her. Don't be that person who disrespects others and make other people's jobs harder than what it already is, y'all. Is that too much to ask for? Never thought I'd leave a review for a grocery store, but I have a special fondness (or obsession?) for Erewhon, and this ain't no ordinary grocery store. Erewhon is essentially "stereotypical LA" in grocery store form. It offers organic produce, green juices, vegan foods, and lots of specialty snacks and offerings not available elsewhere. Some of my favorite things to buy from here are the vegan desserts, specialty breads, gourmet/specialty chocolate bars, and of course lunch from their hot bar. Their hot bar is amazing. So many drool-worthy items that taste unbelievably good but still leave you feeling great after. Some of my faves are the grilled salmon (basic but bomb), their turmeric chicken tenders, buffalo cauliflower as well as Kung pao cauliflower (basically they do deep fried cauliflower impressively well), and many of their veggie sides are unique and make me actually want to eat veggies. Minus one star because the prices are outrageous (also the chaos that regulary ensues by the hot bar). read more

Completely inhumane how Los Angeles and other cities turn a blind eye to this type of suffering. I don't know why supermarkets do not have some type of process or system in place to provide their excess food (e.g breads / sandwiches) about to become stale etc to people like this man who have literally NOTHING to eat).
