Save yourself the trouble and go to the Erik's in Monterey. I called a pick up order in advance because I was in a huge hurry and starving, the woman on the phone told me it would be about 5 minutes. It actually took me 15 mins to get there; my order wasn't even started! Not only that, there was ONE family in the place who had finished placing their order as I walked in... they made all 5 of their sandwiches before even starting mine. I am not someone who writes reviews but after visiting this restaurant I had to. I have been here once or twice before and its nothing great the food is ok and I would rather support local sandwich shoppes that have fresh ingredients and good customer service. I myself work in the industry and understand that customers can be frustrating when they don't know what they want but you smile and say no problem. The service I received was so rude when I requested the sprouts that were left off my sandwich. You don't go to the section and chat with your coworker about it while giving dirty looks to then toss the bowl to me and say nothing when I thank you even though you were rude to me. My husband have tried this place a few times since it opened. We were there yesterday about 2:00 p.m. Walked in, 4 employees present with at least 5 tables needing to be cleared. The only employee that seemed to be making an effort was a gal named Tina. She has the skills to be in a better place than this one. We ordered the Pilgrim's Progress and soup. The sandwich is $6.99 and it had 1 slice thick of turkey - ridiculous! What is sad about businesses like this one is that corporate often forgets that you need to train and re-train, train and re-train employees. The service in this location is surly, inefficient and often inept. When they take your order at the deli counter, they refuse to include any drink items. When you get to the cashier at the end of the line, she consistently rings you up for the food without even bothering to ask if you want something to drink, as if that's a waste of her time. Then she acts offended if you mention that you also want something to drink. Happens nearly every time. The wait time for the food is highly variable, and not particularly correlated to how busy they are. At least twice they somehow managed to 'lose' my order altogether, requiring me to go to the counter to see what happened. Never an apology from anyone. Cleaning the tables seems optional, and the sandwiches sometimes appear to be thrown together without much care. Other than that, not a bad place to eat.. read more

Nice facility with plenty of seating & no crowding. The sandwiches are always much better than places like Subway or Togos. Though they are a fair amount higher priced. Considering my sandwich was overstuffed with sprigs, the higher price is a bit more noticeable. But the strawberry blonde cashier is hella cute, which makes up for it :) read more

Well I decided to give Erik's another chance today, and to my surprise the sandwiches have actually got worse! The bread was not only not fresh but they felt and tasted as though they were well over a week old! The rolls have changed and their taste is quite bad! Lots of great choices for salads, sandwiches and soups. Visited today with my wife for our first time to this Erik's. I liked the open feeling with all the glass and room inside the place. My wife had the 'raging bull' sandwich (roast beef) and I had a pastrami sandwich with a fountain drink. Excellent food, very tasty and satisfying. I am adding this to one of my sandwich places for future visits. The staff was courteous and helpful since we were new kids. They made it easy and comfortable. I have LOVED the Natural High for years. Sadly I moved far away from any Erik's Deli. I was in town for the weekend & told my friend about this place. We came for lunch. Wow, talk about poor customer service. The staff here knows nothing of customer service. No one was friendly or inviting and two of the members, Emily and Jasmine, were incredibly rude (I.e. Mumbling things about me and my boyfriend under their breath still loud enough for us to hear, Interrupting us while we were ordering, speaking rudely) Not very appropriate Erik's DeliCafe. I hope that somebody important reads this and understands that everyone who works at this establishment needs to be trained properly. Erik's Deli is great with their many options on the menu and gluten free choices. However, lately the Gluten Free bread has been rock solid stale! This kind of bread has a tendency to stale quickly, so switching out the old bread needs more attention. We brought it to the attention of the staff and they just said that they were not familiar with Gluten free bread. I love Erik's.. But I probably will not be going back to this one for a while. read more

Today I waited 7 minutes to order while on my lunch break. I stood in front of 2 girls making food and watched the manager or person in charge sit on the side eating a bag of carrots with her back to me. It was really rude. It was awkward and annoying. I come here frequently and this is the worst service from this place ever. They made the wrong sandwich for me too. By the time I got it and my lunch break was over I was like whatever. I had to rush to eat and I was super annoyed. Atleast this time I got a pickle and an orange wedge. The service here is really lame. .....I remember when Erik's Deli was AWESOME!! I grew up in San Jose, and loved the sandwiches!! Especially the Reo Speedwagon!! The bread was always fresh, tons of meat and just the right amount of goo(basically mayo mixed with a little mustard), fresh tomatoes, red onions and some sprouts. Living in Seaside the past 15+ years, I was so excited when they opened one here!! The original owner knew what he was doing! It was great when it first opened!! And I loved the staff!! Always friendly and remembered who you were!! Not anymore!!! I won't be back......at least to the Seaside location! Unfriendly service, waiting for a sandwich can sometimes feel like you were in a full service restaurant. We've waited up to 20 minutes for our sandwich, even though we were only one of the few patrons in there! If their sandwiches were anything like they used to be, I wouldn't mind waiting a bit. Horrible service! The girls that work here need some serious customer service training! Didn't even ask if I needed something to drink even though it was my first time to an Eriks, so I figured it would come with a meal...but whatever; didn't mind paying more for one either. The worst part is that I placed my order then a group of guys came in where all the girls were giggling, flirting, and rushing to get their orders made. When I noticed the other groups meals were already served before I got mine, we had to go to the front to see how much longer it would take for ours to be ready. Turns out they forgot to make the sandwiches! Funny. They didn't forget to make the guys' sandwiches. They were upset at us! Do your job, girls. And if customer service isn't your thing, I suggest finding another job. For the service I received, I will NEVER be back to this location, and will NEVER recommend ANYONE here. read more
