Calm Chowder
Donte M.

I ordered to go. Everything was delicious and package accordingly. It did not take long at all. I really enjoyed the bread quality and freshness of veggies. Clam chowder sourdough bowl was a great consistency and had plenty of flavor.

Raging Bull

Never had a bad meal here. They seem to add new menu items and they're always great to try. The staff is pleasant and efficient. The bathrooms are always clean. I have only good things to say after eating at several Erik's over the years. I have a few favorites like Abbotts Habit and Raging Bull! I had the Raging Bull well my guest chose a new item called the Italian Job. This is reminiscent of the Italian subs we eat in Boston!

Gluten Free Clam Chowder

Today was our first time trying Erik's. I had a recommendation from a friend and we decided to check it out. We were happy to see that wheat was not listed as an allergen in the Chowder so my wife was able to enjoy a bowl. We were both happy with the soup and I like the sandwich. The service was top notch and the food great. This locator was very clean, the counter looked great, and the price is very reasonable. I also tried some Carrot cake. It was a classic carrot cake, moist and the cream cheese frosting was tasty. Give them a try.

Barnbuster, blah
Terri M.

There was 4 employees total. 1 on break, 1 in back and 2 making sandwiches. There was 2 people in front of us each getting one sandwich. The employees had no move with a purpose. The girl came off break and the guy went on break. Instead of her making the orders she went to the other employee making sandwiches and was just lolligagging chatting for about 8 minutes before she started making sandwiches. It took about a half hour to get our order. I ordered a raging bull and barn buster. Not much to the barnbuster, no flavor and got jipped on the meat. The raging bull was nasty but about half the meat as normal.

Half sandwich combo. Chicken pesto and clam chowder

Had a half sandwich combo. Pesto chicken and clam chowder. Pesto was on point and the clam chowder was good very creamy and nice pieces of clam and potatos just lack a little bit of favor. All together semi bussin!

Farmer's Market

Been going here for few years. Some days your sandwich is made by a craftsman and today Ken you rock. Watching him build my Farmers Market sandwich into perfect proportions I immediately knew I had to take a picture. You see, eating healthy shouldn't leave you hungry. A veggie sandwich should be chock full of goodies bc it's veggies after all. It always saddens me when I open a sandwich to see a single leaf of lettuce with a single tomato slice on top of bread. How on earth will that help you stay full or healthy. But.... on Some days a sandwich maker like Ken helps makes your day a little brighter. Piling up the ingredients in a perfect stack (not just in the middle). Thanks Erik's. Thank you Ken.

I'm not a fan. I feel like I could make the same sandwich at my house. I'm still searching for a great lunch spot in the area.

They were kind enough to sneak a couple onto the grill for us, which was an amazing gesture. The hot dogs were absolutely delicious, served on a high-quality bun shipped directly from the East Coast (the same ones they use for their Philly cheesesteaks). It was a fantastic, flavorful surprise. As you can see from the photo, my wife thoroughly enjoyed diving right into that massive foot-long! The service was top-notch, the food was spectacular (such great quality and flavor), and they truly care about their customers. We will absolutely be returning and highly recommend this spot to anyone in the Seaside area! Thank so much, its really a pleasure to find a crew that love their trade !

3.5 STARS HELLO,…read moreMEAT SWEATS! Escaping the 4th of July warzone in The City, we headed to Carmel for a quiet staycation. The Carmel food scene tends to be mid and overpriced so I was in search of more affordable, local gems in Seaside and Marina areas. And...TikTok brought me to The Meatery, a boutique butcher shop and eatery. BUTCHER SHOP Array of ethically sourced meats - amazing looking marbled steaks, pork, veal, and handcrafted sausages (Mmm, blood sausage and fermented garlic sausage!). They also have house-made sauces and spice blends, condiments, compound butters, duck fat, and more. There's even fresh dog food (e.g. beef sirloin, brown rice, and blueberries) which I bought for my dogs. EATERY Made-to-order sandwiches and BBQ (brisket, pulled pork, ribs, etc) in the hot case. House-made sides (potato salad, mac salad, and kimchi) are available in the cold case. Bottled drinks including beer available. You can order ahead online but we ordered in-person. Note: Check Toast for the most up-to-date prices; the online menu has the old prices. There's about 6 tables for dine-in. Self-serve water. Bus your own tables when finished. F O O D * 18 Hour Smoked Brisket Sandwich ($18): https://tinyurl.com/rceamucw - Requested mix of wet/moist and lean brisket A signature item, the brisket sandwich was sorely disappointing. While I enjoyed the fresh, soft bun, tangy cola-cola bbq sauce, and acidic pickled onions, the lean brisket was very dry and tough (at opening time). * Calamari Steak Po'Boy Sandwich ($18): https://tinyurl.com/yn7zsvz6 The unique coastal twist on a New Orleans classic sounded promising on paper. The sesame roll was light and fluffy, and the slaw had a delicious creamy tang. Unfortunately, the thin, fried calamari steak was dry and chewy, while the heavily salted breadcrumbs overwhelmed its delicate flavor. * Dino Beef Rib ($21.50/lb): https://tinyurl.com/j8dsxnvc Eyeing this on another table, we decided to order it after trying the sandwiches. Def the highlight of our meal - the beef rib was rich, tender, and deeply savory. Not overly fatty with a crispy bark. Light on the seasoning and smoke so the tangy BBQ sauce came through for a boost of flavor. * Wedge Fries ($8) Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the wedges were dusted with their house seasoning mix (savory w/ a touch of smoky flavor) and served with a side of their fermented chipotle ketchup. * Kimchi Cucumber ($7.50) A blend of napa cabbage and thinly sliced cucumbers, the kimchi was mild and tangy. The perfect acidic in-between bites. S E R V I C E Warm, friendly service. Food came out fast. Overall, maybe we visited on an off day for the eatery. I can see why The Meatery is a local fav for their butcher shop tho. I mean, if I lived nearby, I would be all over 'em sausages! P.S - 3.5 stars rounded up for a small business.

So one morning on a recent golfing trip to Monterey area,I was out for a morning walk to Starbucks…read morewhen I caught this wonderful smell in the air and wouldn't you know it,as soon as I turned a corner, there was this wonderful gentleman cooking up 25+ tri-tips and I asked him what they were for and he said it was the meat used for the days tritip sandwich sales.I told him I would be back after my round of golf that morning. Well after my comical round of golf that day,I returned to the shop and I truly stumbled upon a true hidden gem of a sandwich shop. I went with a buddy and we ended up getting two types of sandwiches and we split them. We ordered the Hot Pastrami ($15.00) and the aforementioned Tri-Tip Sandwich($16.00) We also got a large potato salad they offered-not sure on pricing on that. So let's talk about the sandwiches. I really enjoyed the Pastrami quite a bit-it was for sure one of the best Pastramis I've ever tasted, not too fatty and perfectly seasoned. The Tri-Tip though-that was exactly what I thought it would be-true showstopper. You ever have a food item that was so good that it almost kinda pisses you off because you now know this level exists and most likely won't find it again like this?....Well that's what this item was-perfection Tri-Tip on a really well-made sandwich. Their potato salad was really high level as well, total creaminess with perfect balance of seasonings-I could never make mine this well. Their high level of food explained why when I arrived at the little market there were 7-8 people in line in front of us. Parking for this location is all street parking as this place is truly just a little neighborhood market located in a residential neighborhood-If you blinked when driving by,one could miss it. But that doesn't stop them from delivering very high quality food and a permanent stop on my must-visit list whenever I go back to the Monterey area...You should do the same-it's great.

I was genuinely blown away by the difference. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. I had the Alfredo and the rigatoni, and both were solid. The pizza wasn't my favorite part of the meal, but the bread with the dipping oil and the rest of the food more than made up for it. They also have filtered regular water and filtered soda water, which I definitely appreciate. Somehow that small detail always tells me a place cares. The next time I'm back in Monterey, I'll definitely stop here again. Also, just a heads-up I had a better time here, made better memories, and still spent less than I did at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. At least here, the food was actually worth looking at.

Hence, began Gayle's search for a salad starting at this Santa Fe Market. This is a nice store that caters more to the Hispanic market. I've had the carne asada fries weekly, sometimes a couple of times a week when I used to work at one of the auto dealers around the corner from them and used to rave about them to family and friends. We stopped there to get dinner tonight, and I got the usual carne asada fries and was so disappointed. They've replaced the regular french fries with shoe string fries which have no substance to them and were not cooked all the way. The carne asada was so well done and chewy that I had to pull some pieces out of my mouth to spit them out and overall it had a very sour taste to the dish, and the amount of cheese and sour cream were nearly non-existent AND finally the container was no longer needing a rubber band to hold it closed like it has for the past 6 years that I've gotten the carne asada fries for lunch, it was about half full. I used to be able to either take home leftovers and have them for dinner or snack on them the rest of my workday, not any longer, now for $15.95 they give a half sized portion of absolute YUCK. What a complete disappointment. I definitely won't be shopping there again. Even their guacamole or Pico de gallo was brown in the cabinet, YUCK! They have really cheeped out on their hot deli foods, unfortunately.
