    Sloppy machine line stitching.
    Steve W.

I would only use Erik for simple heel or sole replacements. Otherwise, anything more complex, I would go to Jim's Shoe Repair which located uptown on 59th Street. Erik ruined my Made in England boots with shoddy work. I had ripped the leather that connected to the pull tab to pull my foot in. I wasn't impressed with his workmanship. After getting a second opinion at Jim's Shoe Repair, the staff said that Erik should have opened up the inner leather lining and placed the reinforced leather in between, to do the patch work. Instead, Erik stitched the leather patch on the outside of the inner leather lining, and his machine stitching was neither neat nor tidy. Even the glue workmanship is sloppy and poor with smearing. Please see photos. Erik's excuse was that no one is going to see the repair because I would be wearing pants to cover it, but that's not a good reason that his workmanship was poor. Now, I have to pay another reputable repair shop to fix his work and re-do the repair again. No repeat. If you can't do it right, then tell me to find a shoe repair place that can do it better especially if it's a high-quality boot from England. Verdict: do not bring your nice shit here! Pay the extra money elsewhere that has been business since the 1930s like Jim's Shoe Repair.

Ancient boots completely re-vamped for $45!

I agree; this guy is an absolute shoe magician. He can make an ancient pair of shoes feel brand new in mere hours. I don't know how he does it. His tiny shop always has a number of characters hanging out as well, perhaps they're trying to pick up the tricks of the shoe maestro? Do note: he's not always in when he says he'll be in... but magicians need their secrets, I presume... he's probably off developing new magic!

Erik is a real gem. He is such an honest guy and a true gentleman. Brought over two pairs of shoes. One pair has the sole cracked. Erik fixed both within 1.5 hour. He gave me a very decent price on both. My daughter is so happy to have her old bling bling shoes fixed up. I am truly blessed to have found this place. This will be my goto shoe repair store going forward. You won't be sorry. FYI, Erik has been doing this for over 30+ years.

Extremely unsatisfied with Erik's work. I was recommended to him by a friend and heard he got multiple pairs of boots done by Erik and I saw great reviews about him online, so I thought heck why not. I then proceeded to bring my new pair of Saint Laurent suede wyatts to him so I can get a protective outsole. Needless to say, I was horrified by his workmanship. He sanded down areas of the boots which were unnecessary and didn't even bother to repolish it. The glue job on the sole was messy as you can see dried transparent glue on large areas of the sole which weren't even being worked on. Lastly, Erik didn't even bother to wash his hands while handling my suede boots. Every cobbler should know that suede stains easily but it seems like Erik just used my boots as a towel after he washed his hands. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

    Bad repair

The worst work ever. And I ask for something really easy basic. Just have a look of the awful job he did. Disgusting.

Replaced the heels of my shoes that were worn down.

Erik is the best - inexpensive, expert, and easy going. He's a real gem in a world increasingly disposable. Your shoes will thank you.

I came here to replace the heels of a pair of ankle length boots - $18. It was quick - got shoes back the same day.

This bag means the world to me because it was my very first designer bag, gifted to me over 10 years ago They worked absolute magic! The cleaning and restoration were done with such incredible care and attention to detail. When I got it back, it literally looked brand new You would never know it had gone through anything! Shoutouts to Leather Spa bringing it back to life! On top of that, the turnaround time was so fast which meant so much to me. I'm beyond grateful to have my sentimental piece restored so beautifully. It looks just the same now as it did when I first got it. I highly recommend them to anyone needing expert care for their luxury items! 10/10 experience!

Absolutely despicable. Stay away from Leather Spa at all costs! Destroyed a brand new, unworn pair…read moreof Louboutin boots for which I just paid over $2k at Saks. I first brought the boots to the Grand Central location and was turned away because apparently only 55th Street (the least accessible NYC location for me) does calf alterations. My boots were 1-1.5" too wide in the calves as I have very narrow legs, and while I was clear that I didn't want them to be tight, I did want them to look more fitted and neater around my legs. I went to 55th Street and intentionally had the boots fitted over jeans, repeatedly telling the store employee that he was cutting off my circulation and needed to loosen the boots. Rather than listen to me and do what I asked, he told me that they could stretch them if they turned out too small. I very adamantly said no, I will not compromise the integrity of the leather by stretching them nor will I agree to have the boots made too small so that additional work will be required. I finally asked him to provide the final measurement and was told it was 13". The boots were originally 14.5" for reference. The boots were ready in just over a week, which already had me concerned since I hadn't requested a rush job. Upon receiving them, I could immediately see that they were two different sizes. The left boot is 12.5" and the right boot is just barely 12.25". They are nearly impossible to zip, the seams were done VERY poorly and not straight, and most importantly, they do not fit without severe pain. I cannot walk in them. I literally can't even move my right ankle. And that's on my bare legs without jeans. I immediately contacted Leather Spa and received a response from Vincent who said it's very common for boots with this type of repair to require additional treatment and that I should bring them back for stretching. Did I not already have this conversation BEFORE I paid $300+ to ruin $2k+ boots??? Vincent insists they are not ruined even after I sent photos showing that they very much are. Further, they didn't even send them back to me nicely - they threw shreds of cut leather pieces inside one of the boots and just sent them off that way as further evidence of the total rush job. I used to frequent Leather Spa 55th and my patronage fell off years ago after they did something very similar to a pair of $300 boots. I was very clear during my visit this time that that could not happen again with my brand new Louboutin boots that were significantly more expensive. Had the employee just told me on the spot that they were going to cut my boots too small and require stretching thereafter, I would've taken the boots, walked out and gotten them repaired elsewhere. Literally the only reason I returned to Leather Spa is because Christian Louboutin recommends them. Never again.
