Located inside the Doubletree Hotel is Erling Jensen's Top Golf Small Bites. I was pleasantly surprised with the lunch buffet today. There was a nice standard salad bar. On the buffet there was a variety of foods to create a taco with small flour tortillas or a taco salad with chips. There were seasoned chicken, beef, fajitas vegetables, queso, sour cream, guacamole, and chips. Also available was taco soup. The server brought you salad dressing for your salad. Strawberry Shortcake was the dessert on the salad bar. Service was awesome. Cassandra was very friendly and helped us tremendously. She was attentive and so nice. The restaurant was super clean and decorated with a golf cart and very pretty metal decor. The lunch buffet foods change each day. Call before you check it out to see what the daily special will be. You can also order items from a small lunch menu if you do not want the daily all you can eat buffet. At the end of lunch, the special treat was the infamous Doubletree Chocolate Chip cookie! Yum. I think Im onto something with this place! I attended a wine dinner a few weeks back. Id never been to one, but it won't be my last! Very informative, with different wines from different regions for each course. I learned so much, and it really gave me a newfound respect for people that really care about wine. I have a lot to learn, but the vibe was so cool and educational (not stuck up as i had feared!) The wine dinner inspired me to go for lunch during the week, as I work pretty close by. I was elated to learn they just introduced a lunch buffet for those of us who need to grab a quick bite and get back to it. For $15 (an amount I could easily drop in a drive thru these days), I was able to enjoy a full fledged meal, complete with soup, salad, and dessert! On the day I visited, they had smothered pork chops, a cajun andouille sausage medley, wild rice, steamed vegetables, and broccoli cheese soup. Date Night!! It was my turn to pick! My golf league ran late this evening, so I had Daddy meet me close by the golf course. I am so happy my golf buddies really get into our date nights and give me suggestions all the time. We found Trina from our Tony's days, and she is still making drinks and providing A1 service! I should have paid more attention to the poor reviews! We stopped in on a Tuesday evening around 530 for an early dinner. It took some time for our server to stop by. We ordered the Buffalo Wings, the Ahi tuna salad, and the pork chop. In a nearly empty restaurant, it took over a half hour for the wings and salad to come out. At that point, we felt it was important to tell our server to go ahead and ask the kitchen to fire the pork chop. His reply was that it was already sitting in the window. This is a rookie mistake I would expect from a restaurant with Chef Erling's name on it. The Ahi on my salad was not even lukewarm, indicating it was likely made first. The food all tasted fine, but the poor service and long wait times ensure we won't ever return OR bother with the pricier restaurant either. read more

I love this place! Idk why it has a low star reviews, think about it - a chill, hotel bar with a pretty extensive menu to be called "small bites" - I've been here numerous times this year and actually book this hotel because of the restaurant onsite and Ms Trina at the bar. I usually order food to go to eat in my room but occasionally eat at the bar and it's consistently excellent service and delish food either way!! And she remembered me after maybe the 2nd time. Erling Jensen Small Bites is inside the Doubletree Hotel on Sanderlin. The kitchen is Jensen's, the staff is the hotel's. I always get worried when an amazing chef opens another restaurant. You know that no one can be in two places at once. Well, let me tell you. Jensen was not there and I had the BEST salmon dinner. OMG! YUM!!!!!!!! Inside the restaurant are two TopGolf Swing Suites. You can reserve the area to eat and drink and play golf. I saw families arrive as I was leaving. We snuck in around 2 p.m., when people are not usually at restaurants, which is why you see empty seats. It was a Saturday and started filling up around 3:30 p.m. I saw a guy with his wife and kids come to meet his other friend with his wife and kids. He had his own golf clubs strapped over his shoulder. LOL. The restaurant appears to be a destination for both golf lovers and foodies alike. The person I had the late lunch with said his burger was outstanding. He also ate every French fry on his plate. Chef Jensen owns a classic French restaurant on Yates Road. He's from Denmark and was trained in Europe. You'll find some entrées from his menu and what they call shareables that make this a good place for groups. There's also a section of handmade cocktails. He obviously trained the kitchen staff with impeccable detail. It's fascinating that he was able to bring an upscale twist to a casual atmosphere and it totally works! Clearly Small Bites is in the running for the worst restaurant in Memphis. Don't let the Erling Jensen name fool you. The food was Ok -- it was the long waits and poor service that destroyed the experience. We were a large group -- pre-arranged -- and they could not cope with the complex billing. read more

I was a little hungry and wanted to grab a quick bite so decided to visit one of my "spots". I do enjoy everything about Erling Jensen Small Bites - the atmosphere, food, drinks! Today, I tried something new from my usual (sliders); I ordered the Memphis BBQ Chicken Flatbread. It was quite tasty. It was enough slices to really get full. I had my red onions cooked on the flatbread. It really brought out the flavor. The cocktails were slightly off today. I wanted to order a cocktail and asked for a Juniper Fusion but the server said they were out of cucumbers. So, I went with my usual, Lemon drop Martini. The server asked if I wanted it made with Grey Goose or Tito's. My friend dining with me ordered one too, so we order one with GG and Tito's. When our server brought the drinks to the table, the rims were not salted and when we tasted them, they tasted the same and too sweet. They didn't taste like the normal lemon drop I get there. I chalked it up to maybe there's a different bartender today. Nevertheless, Small Bites is and will continue to be one my favorite spots. read more

Don't go there for a date. We made reservations for Valentines Day eve, having read somewhere that Erling Jensen was a nice restaurant. We walked in and it was about as upscale as an Applebee's. With its bright lighting, 1990s motel furniture, plastic-sleeve menus and blaring large-screen TVs, it's exactly the opposite of romantic... So we turned right around and left. read more

The positive reviews of this place feel like they were paid for. The service is awful. Food is okay. Golf games barely work. I wanted this to be as cool as it could be, but it falls waaaaay short of expectations. You can tell it's the hotel staff because they are inexperienced and confused easily. So I get treated badly by the hostess and I send a note asking management look into it and I get this rude passive-aggressive response. This place is not Erling Jensen's the restaurant and is basically a bar with overpriced food. Very disappointing. Ordered the slider flight and a black and bleu salad. Sliders were supposed to be served on brioche buns, they were not. More like hoagie buns cut in half. Tiny piece of chicken and tiny burger patty. Salad didn't have any dressing. Mark up on bottle of wine was more that usual. Took 30 minutes for dessert to come, and was mediocre. Service was slow, and atmosphere like a hotel lobby. With erling jensens name attached, expected more. Do not recommend. read more

My fiancé and myself had the opportunity to visit Erling Jensen and the manager mario was very gracious. He continued too check on my wife and I throughout our visit. He even suggested some great food and drinks options aswell. We kept telling him that his service was amazing and how we would love to have him manage one of our restaurants in New York. He is a amazing worker aswell as the crew. The food was amazing and the drink were BOMB!! We will be return back in the future!!!! read more

Went on mothers day with a party of three. Was disappointed when I couldnt order from the menu. Buffet was all they offered that day and at $55 a person it was way over priced. I don't mind paying good money for good food but this food was terrible. I've had better at a free continental breakfast. A 20% tip was added to our check automatically. That amounted to a $35 tip for a buffet that is self serve. We won't go back or recommend this to anyone. read more

food was impeccable! service was extremely weird. there were two of us dining in for the first time. we told the host that we wanted to sit at the bar and we saw two seats open and were told that there wasn't enough room for us to sit there?? so then she walked us over to a table that we sat down at when another employee walked up and said he was gonna sit there and needed us to move so we were just standing around like wtf?? and asked to just sit in the two open seats and made it happen. we asked the bartender about one of the specialty cocktails in which she didn't know much about and clearly didn't want to make. didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu either. pretty sure they kept the staff from the previous restaurant that was there before switching to erling jensen small bites. so service was extremely weird, uncomfortable, and unknowledgeable. staff needs to be retrained bc it def wasn't up to erling jensen par or any par for that matter. but 4 stars bc food was fye (coming from people in the industry btw) read more

We had reservations for 6. I confirmed when texted. I called one hour before. I specifically requested- again - if the Duke/Carolina game would be on and if we could have a table where we could watch the game and was told yes to both. We arrived on time. They didn't even have a table set up for us. Then they set one up where 3 of our party were required to sit with their backs to the tv. We left at halftime and went home. I spoke to the manager who said basically, I hate it for you but thank you for spending your $300. We won't be back. read more
