I've tried Ernesto's North End on two occasions. The first time I ordered pizza by the slice which was reheated to order. The second occasion I ordered a whole pizza which they made to order. The fresh pizza was much better than the pizza by the slice. The whole pizza took under 10 minutes to make. The crust was perfect and crunchy without the flop. The cheese and ricotta cheese topping was a little thick and kept falling off. But overall very good pizza. I'd say 5 star for the fresh made pizza and 3 star for the pizza by the slice. Workers were very friendly and the pizza with toppings was about $27 which was very reasonable. read more

I've been here twice so far... is it the best pizza I've ever had? No. Still, don't let that distract you from the fact that it's still darn good, and a great value to boot! Haters gonna hate, but it is downtown Boston, so I think the price is reasonable. I've had to opportunity to try the cheeseburger and Margherita pizzas. I will repeat what all most all of the other people have stated: The "slices" or a quarter of a pizza, and a large one at that. At the same time the pizza is thin, so you're not left feeling bloated or as if you've overeaten. Being thin also helps keep the tomato sauce, cheese, and crust somewhat in balance. To be fair, though, I would have preferred a little more cheese and tomato sauce, as is the case with Neapolitan pizza. A note regarding heft, I found the cornicione (edges) too big relative to the rest of the pizza. Furthermore, they weren't exciting enough to warrant being eaten almost like a breadstick, and I'm not one of those people who leaves pizza crusts uneaten. An option of dipping sauce would be great! Toppings were pretty good! The cheese was solid, and the tomato sauce definitely tasted "real", and not from a can. With both the Margherita and cheeseburger, the quantity was spot on. The slices were neither weighed down, nor did they experience a dearth of toppings. My gripe, however, is regarding the cheeseburger. Tomato sauce, especially when it's real has a fair bit of acidity. Pickles by themselves are fine, but added to a pizza created a very high acid content. My advice is to simplify, and allow fresh ingredients shine on their own: especially onions, lettuce, maybe tomato slices. Finally, those dang slices... I'm a guy who likes to mix it up. Allowing actual slices (1/8th instead of 1/4) would allow me to do more of what I love: mixing and matching. On the other hand,they'd lose the title of largest slice, and I don't want to be the one telling Ernesto's how to run their shop. A solution would be to bring some friends to come with! Who's down? Overall, if you're looking for piping hot fresh amazing pizza, this may not be your best bet. On the other hand, if you're looking for something quick, yummy, filling, and a great value, then this is your place. The slices reheat quick, come on down (and take me with you)! read more

One slice of pizza = size of my face? We even got a look from the staff when we requested two slices for two people (they showed us the size of the pizza to make sure we knew what we were getting). I have to say, at the price that we paid, for the amount of food that we got, this could not have been a better bargain! We got the Buffalo Chicken (recommendation from the staff there) and another slice of pizza and both of them were so delicious! We also ordered the Spinach Arancini in Marinara Sauce (first time for both of us). They will pre-cut the slices so that they are more "biteable", and if you dine in, they also have seasoning/cheese/red pepper flakes for you to add on to your slice. The crust was amazing. I did not realize how much I was missing out in Oregon where there is just not the same quality of pizza. The crust was baked until it had developed a nice char, and overall, there was a nice puffiness and chew that is really lacking in Oregon pizzas. Additionally, pizza is definitely not the healthiest food, but the flavor did not have me feeling gross and greasy after eating it. Both pizzas were very well seasoned and the toppings were so delicious. The arancini was also delightful. It came with an Instagrammable cheese pull, and it was reminiscent of a cheesy hush puppy. Doused in tomato-ey marinara sauce, it was also very delicious and rich. They have different filling options, but at the time, the others were not available. Best "slice" of pizza in decades. It's actually 2 slices. Great selection of vegetarian pies to choose from. We shared an everything veg that had fresh tomatoes, onion, peppers, fried eggplant, broccoli, olives and mushrooms. The vegetables were cooked to perfection so it was easy to take small bites and savor all the flavors. The crust was excellent ! So first night in Boston back from the Islands and it was raining so decided to use Uber Eats for the first time and order pizza. Problem was that it was 9pm+ and fewer options - if I had been willing to get in my car I could have gone down to North End and probably saved some money and received a fresher pie and I'm taking that into account with this review. Ordered their Chicken Roni Ricotta - this is a huge pizza but only one size - added a greek salad - when all said and done it was $50+ which seems costly for a pie/salad but that's the cost of being lazy I suppose. The pizza of course was being eaten probably 30 minutes later than it should have been - even so - it was done well - loved the dough and the ricotta cheese - even had a slice the day after and still had that great day after taste. Greek salad was average - nothing notable. I do believe Ernesto's is a better choice for a 4 people + while other joints are better suited for a couple. read more

We took the Boston Pizza Tour and this was our first stop. Honestly, it should have been the last because the pizza was a showstopper. They were all good, but Ernesto's was the group favorite. So much so that we were only in town for a couple days and we went back for seconds. The place is tiny so don't expect a place to sit at busy times. If you're doing pizza by the slice they have plenty of options in the case but I stuck with classic pepperoni or cheese. Also, I will say that on the tour they gave us a whole fresh pie for our group vs reheated slices and it was noticeably different. When we all came back for slices, we wished that we got a fresh pie and waited for it. After growing up in Boston, I'm always looking for something that compares now that I'm in SC. If I could replicate the perfect pizza for me to take back home it would be this one for sure. read more

I would argue best pizza on the North End. I go back and forth between here and Regina's. This is a casual stop on Salem street, cash or card here. They make all the pizza fresh throughout the day. I love the pepperoni and ricotta. My wife loves the bbq chicken pizza, also BOMB. Fire. They only serve whole pizzas or slices, and the slices are really half the pizza LOL. Essentially 2 slices you can't have half as pictured. Would 100% recommend. The people that own it and work here are super nice. You can sit in here during Covid right now! There aren't a lot of inexpensive places to grab a quick Italian bite to eat in the North End. In fact, most of the venues in the North End are either moderate or expensive. So where should you go if you are on a budget, have kids or don't have a lot of time... ERNESTO'S!!!!! It's not an awesome pizza, but it's a decent thin crust pizza and way better than the popular Costco cheese pizza, Dominos etc, etc, and some of the $15-20 pizzas down the street in the North End. The only downside is that it's a reheated pizza so the crust is a little soggy, but not too bad. The value is off-the-hook. Two slices of cheese pizza (1/4 pizza) for $4.50?
