Good casual pizza place. No frills but very tasty. I've gotten pizza here a few times and each is better than the last. The staff here definitely doesn't put their back into making authentic Italian pizza but it's a nice New York style slice. The margarita pizza was just okay but every "American style" pizza is amazing. So cheesy and crispy and satisfying. I personally recommend a bacon and onion (you'll just have to trust me on that). Go here when you want a better pizza than you'd get from a chain but don't expect it to be old world Italian pizza. read more

I think this pizza place may be a bit better than Rina's in the North End (which I also gave 5 stars) albeit maybe a bit more expensive. Just really good slices and huge. Has 6-10 different topping type of slices out all the time. Recommend this is as good a pizza as you'll find. read more

This pizza reminds me of my hometown in NJ (which is mostly Italian). Thin crispy bottom, doughy centered crust and just enough toppings that don't overpower the taste of the sauce. We got the Buffalo chicken, pepperoni and the caprese. All were fantastic but If I had to choose, I'd definitely do the caprese. It just tastes so fresh! Don't be alarmed with the prices, each "slice" is actually 2. I overheard you can get the cheese or pepperoni as single slices... but I've never had only one slice of pizza... ever. Me and my girlfriend ordered three slices, 1 pep and 2 mushroom & green bell pepper (each one is large enough they cut it into two separate pieces). Slices cost $7 ($3.5 really cause you're getting 2 in 1) and the pep was ready immediately. Service is fast but be prepared to bus your own table. We saw the price of a "slice" and thought, "what kind of effing pizza is 4.50/slice???" and the new realized that a "slice" is ¼ pie at Ernesto's. Cool. The guy at the counter was nice, and they had a ton of pizzas in the display, some which looked fresh and some which looked like they'd seen better days - there was one with shrimp on top that looked RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS, but we opted for a plain slice. After all, the measure of a good pizza shop is by its unadorned cheese slice, right? The pizza was served hot, and the crust, which is thin in the middle of the pie but gets slightly thicker than I prefer towards the end, was nice and crusty and slightly darkened. The cheese was nice and stretchy and tasty. The tomato sauce wasn't bad but not really a make-or-break part of this pizza, meaning it didn't make this slice that much better or worse by being there. Overall, it's a decent pizza shop. I was raised on NYC pizza, so I'm comparing this to the best in the world (yes!! I said the best in the world!!), and I'd say it's good pizza, but it's not mind-blowing pizza. If I'm ever near there again though, that shrimp pizza has my name on it, and I may need to update my review then! read more

Imtjust in Boston for the weekend on a getaway trip so I can't say that the pizza is the best in town since this was the only place i got a pizza, but I will say, for what it is, I thought it was perfect and totally hit the spot. It's been a long day of bar hopping and perusing the city, so by this time, we were tired and a bit hungry. We came to Ernesto's and was welcomed immediately with friendly service. There were a wide variety of different pizzas displayed that all looked quite delicious. A 'slice' is 1/4 of a pizza, so it's quite large. I shared with my friend a pepperoni and cheese pizza. You choose your pizza, they heat it up and hand it over and you devour at your own speed. Pizza was not super greasy where my plate was drenched, but it was good enough. The dough itself was nice and toasty and the cheese had a good melt to them. I don't think it's the best pizza in the world, but for what it is(a small pizza joint with variety and tasty) it definitely delivered. read more

If you want an aged slice of pizza, that is minimally heated, and tastes like thawed cardboard, Ernesto's is the place for you. If you order a whole pizza pie, that real estate improves, slightly, and does not taste as raunchy as Ernesto's pizza by the slice. If you want real, high quality pizza, go to Pizzeria Regina, on Thatcher Street, or Galleria Umberto, on Hanover Street, both in the North End. I think Ernesto's is a tourist trap, driven by social media hype and hyperbole. How many endorsements do you subscribe to, based on advertising on garbage cans, throughout the city (you'll find Ernesto's advertising (espousing the size of Ernesto's slice, NOT the quality, taste, or flavor of the slice) on your North End neighborhood garbage can. Regina is good, but it's generally just a cheesy pile of grease. It's only popular in the same way that people think the Twilight series is quality writing. Just the right amount of cheese, appropriate amount of grease, soft crust, a variety of options to choose from, and no crazy line like it's a ride at Disney. Plus, they have rice balls. I got their sausage and pepperoni slice. $5.75 A bit steep but considering it's basically two slices, it makes it worth it. I really like the sausage here. Great spice and texture. The pepperoni is standard. Thin crust, chewy NY style. Minus one star for being warm and not hot enough so that the reheated slice is slightly cold in the middle. Also, the crust isn't good enough for me to eat. It's an okay crust, but not finish all the way good. Also, extremely greasy, used 5 napkins to soak it all up. Hence the 4 stars. read more
