My bf and I had groupons here for awhile actually, but experienced difficulty in scheduling appointments... Heads up, it'll probably be a month out. We also had to get scheduled on different days because we both preferred a female masseuse. I think they only have one male and one female masseuse, and choosing the latter will probably result in further delay. Upon arrival, you fill out paperwork and circle which areas you'd like more focus placed. Jemiah also asks if there's any areas you don't want massaged and the amount of pressure you prefer: light, medium, firm. (There's an option to upgrade to deep tissue for $20 if firm is not enough.) I chose to stick with firm. The room is dimly lit with soothing music in the background. You're undressed from the waist up and she takes care in covering you. The blankets can get a little hot, though. That was my only complaint. No talking involved, it was nice to just unwind. Jemiah focused on my problem spots first, which are primarily my upper shoulders. It felt good to have meticulous hands working and have pressure points addressed. This is your typical big salon a lot of people renting space I only went for a message I bought it on Groupon super cheap. So it was a hard week at work and I was looking forward to a relaxing massage, some to just rub the sore spots. Instead I got a hour lecture on muscles and bones in a brightly lit room. I'm thinking I don't need to know this you went to school , I did not and don't want to. She must have said water 50 times and how I should sleep on and on not one moment to relax , she kept telling me to relax lol I couldn't. I got a massage with Mary and I loved it. While it was not the usual massage I'd get I knew what to expect (as I was referred by a friend). Mary from the beginning introduced herself as a healer first - throughout the massage she gave me advice on what to do in order to release the tension and feel better. I'm not sure how exactly to pinpoint my experience. The facility is nice - feels clean and fresh, and the front desk staff is very welcoming and helpful. I went for a deep tissue massage and wasn't sure what to expect.. The back area seems promising - it's dimly lit with a few rooms, but once settled in you can hear everything (including toilets flushing)... it's not awful, just temper your expectations. The room also felt a little cold for my liking, I'm not sure if the table has the ability to be warmed or not - perhaps I should have asked, but figured it would be on if it did. The massage was... a little intense haha. I asked for firm pressure, and I know everyone wants a different experience, so take my opinion with a grain of salt - he did an AMAZING job on my shoulders and feet, I wish I could have had a 50/50 split with those two areas only. My legs and glutes, however, didn't love the pressure and amount of time spent massaging them. My glutes were sore for about two days. (Please know it never felt unprofessional in my opinion, but it's also never happened in all the massages I've had over the years.) And the technician checked in a few times to make sure it was okay, so partially my fault for not saying "gah! Enough!" Take this review for the confusion it's worth haha - the massage was good, but not relaxing, and the ambiance is there but just not quite the full spa experience some may be used to. I absolutely adore Jenn at Escape Salon and Spa! My hair was in need of some love and Jenn hooked it up! I was referred to Jenn by my sister who has received services from her in the past. I've also seen a lot of Jenn's work on Instagram as well and she is amazing! Different style cuts to the latest trends in hair color, Jenn can do it all. My hair has been long and extremely thick my whole life and I wanted to do something a little different. I needed some change and Jenn was more than willing to help a sista out. I explained to her that I didn't want to do anything TOO drastic, but I just wanted my hair to be more manageable and easier to style. Basically, I told her that I didn't want to spend two hours curling my hair for the curls to just fall out in 30 minutes. I was in her chair for about an hour at most, but I felt like I was sitting there for 20 minutes because we kept the conversation going! She is so fun to talk to and her personality is just like mine. We clicked right away! As she was working her magic, she would always pause and make sure that I liked how it was looking or she would ask me what needed to be fixed. I love how she consulted with me first before doing anything. Before I knew it, she was done cutting and I already felt brand new. My hair feels so much lighter and looks healthier! She also curled it and I loved the way it turned out. Jenn did exactly what I asked of her and I couldn't be happier with the results of my haircut! I purchased a Groupon for a 90 minute massage. When I arrived, I waited about 20 minutes and then I was advised that the Massage Therapist did not show up to work, and they were unable to reach her by phone. I was going on vacation so I waited until May 2 to make another appointment. On May 2nd I rebooked my appointment for May 24 at 10:30 AM. When I arrived I was informed that I did not have an appointment. Who ever booked the appointment with me by phone failed to enter it into the computer. They offered to rebook it for me again, but for only 60 minutes. Since I paid for a 90 minute Groupon: I decided to ask Groupon for a refund, which they provided. Two tries and two disappointments. I've been going to Jenn for 2 years now, and I've yet to write a review on how great she's been these past 2 years!!!! I found her amazing work on Instagram, as I was browsing through and I'm so so glad I did! I started my journey with her when I first wanted to color my hair purple. She was so informative and super patient with how picky I am. This was the summer of 2015. I would come to her for advice on how to keep the color of my hair, and how to maintain the dryness. She always helped me with what products to purchase and how to keep the color so that it will last. Then I came to her after another 6 months because I wanted to go light. I mean...not just light...like light blonde gray! I sent her pictures and she communicated how much of a process it will take for me to get that light. And knowing me...I just had to get there! (Pictures will prove this, I promise!) I was so impatient I even went to a different hair stylist who messed up on my hair....and I came running back to jenn to fix it. Yes I was so nervous because I had cheated on her and I was just so embarrassed about it! But jenn was so understanding and took me in and fixed my hair from the tragic mess the random hair stylist had done! 2 years later....here I am still sitting on her chair and every time I come in, I know I'm going to leave super happy and brand new again! I even referred my mom to her, and my mom probably sees her more than I do now! Thank you for being such a great and patient hair stylist, although I should be the patient one since I'm your customer (LOL). My worst customer experience in recent history. I've purchased several massage packages from Escape but this time was my last time! The worst customer service by three different receptionists. I was hoping one of the three would get it right, wrong! 3 massages, all shorted by at least 15 minutes and nobody would agree to make it right. Aromatherapy was purchased and never offered and when I asked, I was treated as though I was asking for a free massage. This establishment has completely gone down hill, not to mention that the custodial staff seems to have been furloughed! I was referred to Monica by a friend of a friend and I can't tell you how happy I am with the results. Monica is a great person to talk to while you're sitting in your chair for hours and hours, and she is also a great hair stylist because my end result was so perfect, I was smitten with it for weeks. Needless to say, I will definitely be going back again when I need my hair retouched or cut. Monica bleached my hair, dyed it, and also provided a haircut for a great and reasonable price and she did a great job with all of it! She's also very knowledgeable about hair and is very transparent with what products you should be using for minimal damage for my hair. I don't feel like she ever 'oversells' or 'upsells' like I have experienced in other salons (i.e.; she recommended Olaplex in my next bleach job and although it is an extra cost, I know that Olaplex is a bond builder specifically designed to help bleached hair). She's very open with what you should have, not what you need, and is very open to answering any questions or doubts you may have. In addition to that, I have Asian hair, which if you have dealt with (or have Asian hair yourself), you know that it is incredibly stubborn, thick, there's *a lot of it*, and naturally is black and has so much pigment that lifting it to a blonde is literally a long-winded journey. Monica has dealtwith it herself so it's great to know I'm in trusted and experienced hands with my hair. Also, she's very open and answers all my questions! I bought a package from them for six massages. I called on a Thursday and scheduled a massage for the next day at 4 PM. I woke up very sick so I called them around 10 and told him I didn't feel good and asked if I could reschedule. They said no they have a 24 hour cancellation policy. I told him I didn't know I was sick 24 hours ago. They told me I would still be charged. I called back and talked to the manager and she told me they do that to protect the Employee. I told her I was sick and didn't want to take a chance of making the employees sick. She said that didn't matter I could not reschedule and would still lose the massage. Sam was very gentle with my skin, gave an extremely relaxing facial and a hand massage while I had on a chemical mask. She educated me on my skin and even sent me home with free product. I have been going to Escape for several years for massages, facials and hair services. While the therapists and hair stylists have all been good the management is horrible. It has gone downhill this last year and is not customer centered. Very poor communication. I have been told conflicting messages about packages on more than one occasion. Appointments were scheduled but when I arrived I was told I am not on the schedule. I ask to speak to the owner but apparently that is not an option. I have left my phone number but never received a call. Very poor customer service. I will not be a customer an longer once my package expires. The groupon I purchased stated 3 LIMIT PER person but it did not say a limitation on time frame..so after using 3 in 2 months, i purchased another set of 3 and groupon allowed me to purchase the other 3. escape salon and spa manager said I could only use 3 in a calendar year. I showed her the groupon which clearly never mentioned in writing " PER calendar year." I was not allowed to use the other purchases I made. This client was turned away by Escape Salon and Spa, through no fault of my own, but due to its inadequacy in its advertisement.
