My stylist was Lauren Wilkes. She is wonderful at what she does. I tell to cut my hair and not too much because I like some length in my hair and she never takes off too much hair. She works in a very crafty way and I always take her suggestions with what to do with my hair. When I had gone into see her today she washed, blow-dried, cut and style my hair and the prices were so reasonable! I even asked her about coloring my hair which is really dark and her prices were very reasonable! She even had a Instagram page at @colorbylauren with all of her work that she has done! I would say she is a color guru! I dig her styly... Very impressive work Lauren! I will definitely be spending my hair cuts with her from now on! She is my personal hair stylist! I got a haircut from Sergio, huge shout out because he did such a great job and listened to what I wanted and he didn't just cut the way he wanted to cut my hair. I like a scissor cut all the way around and to get cleaned up with the buzzer and he delivered and made my hair look fuller (I got a balding complex because I'm going bald). While I've had cuts here before and all the stylists are competent, their customer service at the front desk is AWFUL. They make a big deal out of walk-ins being welcome, but I can never get a walk in appointment and they make it seem like a headache when you ask. The lady was also really upset that I didn't know exactly what I wanted for hair color (one color or several, because I wanted to consult the stylist). She made it this big thing that they didn't know how long I would take, so how could they possibly schedule me correctly. I was told that they couldn't see me that day, but that maybe they could four hours from now, if the stylist didn't have to pick up her daughter. But they'd put me down for the time slot and hope for the best. If I have to wait four hours for a haircut, you'd better damn well make sure the stylist can see me. I was able to get an appointment in an hour at Urban Renewal just up the street, and they were much more polite. read more

I called Escape Salon after my previous hair stylist moved. I had been so reluctant to find someone new that I hadn't gotten my hair cut in six months. It was terrible. I was lucky enough to see Sergio Santana. Sergio was so wonderful, so knowledgable, so skilled (!!!), and so focused on making sure my hair stays healthy and strong and beautiful. He listened and really wanted to understand what I cared about as far as my hair, what I might be willing to try, what I didn't want to try, etc. In addition to the best cut and dry I've gotten in many years, maybe ever, he gave me a ton of small tips to help my hair stay healthy and to extend (!!!) the time between visits. Not something hair stylists usually do. My hair looked amazing afterwards and I was stupid not to take before and after photos. But trust me. I've been coming to this salon for almost a year and have received various facials from Christy. I was introduced to her via a groupon and received such great service from her that I've seen her once a month since. She is an excellent facialist always keeping me well informed of products being used on my face and discussing with me any changes to my skin needs. I also enjoy the pampering that goes with each facial she provides such a relaxing environment. The pampering almost begins the moment I walk into the salon, I'm offered something to drink and sit in the pretty waiting area. If ZERO stars was an option that would be my choice! My 3 teenage children purchased a facial Groupon for me as my Mother's Day Gift. After 6 days of trying to book an appointment with Christy (she's the only one it can be booked with), she finally got back to me. She stated her first available appt wouldn't be until 9/11, which is beyond the groupon expiration. She said she could not honor the promotion but would honor the amount that was paid for the groupon but I would have to pay for the rest of the service which would be an additional $50! My best friend introduced me to an amazing hair stylist named Fina last year. I was pretty worried about how my hair would turn out, as it was my first time getting my hair dyed. But I must say Fina did such a wonderful job, I was worried about my hair drying out, which it did NOT at all!! I honestly received so many compliments on how gorgeous my hair looked all year long, which I was not expecting, to top it off I felt the look fit me perfectly. I have visited Escape Salon multiple times. Each time has been a wonderful experience. My stylist each time has been Teri. She has many years of experience and always tells me of the classes she takes to be up to date on the latest products and techniques. She also teaches other stylists. The best thing about Teri is that I get a perfect cut and color EVERY time. My hair comes out so perfect and beautiful I feel compelled to go out afterwards to take advantage of my new look. The salon itself is beautiful. I feel pampered as I walk in when the receptionist asks if I would like something to drink. The atmosphere is comfortable and modern. Gary has done my hair for many years and the times that I strayed, I definitely regretted it. I get a full weave that looks natural and lasts. I take longer than most because my hair is thick and it probably takes him twice as long than a typical head. It always comes out beautiful and now I live about an hour away but I will never stray. This review gets 2 stars for the fact that although the experience was pretty terrible, the hair did turn out well. I bought my mother a groupon here for Mother's Day with hair stylist Sara. I will say she did do a good job, but her lack of professionalism was abhorrent, to say the least. My mother was charged another $50 for a service which I feel as though should have been covered through the description of things the groupon provided. So between my mother and myself, we basically paid full price for the service. Groupon is supposed to be a discount site, not a gift certificate for normal pricing. After speaking with the receptionist to make a complaint, I was told that each stylist doesn't have any dues to the salon as far as pricing goes, and can make their own prices, essentially making them independent contractors. This makes her look even worse for charging extra when the entire sum of the price goes to her regardless. I have never felt so cheated and misled by a groupon I've purchased or a "professional" in any business. She hooked the bait and then added a little more and more once she was in. I spoke with her personally and her reasoning was a complete sack of lies and excuses and ended with "I'm sorry you feel that way." Well Sara, we now understand why you are using groupon to cheat more clients. Clearly your lack of professionalism is not attractive to more people than just myself. Which would indeed effect anyone's amount of clientele. read more

I went to Demitri there for years and he always did a fantastic job. My hair color always looked natural and my hair always looked super healthy when I would leave. I'm very happy that they accept credit cards now... it was tough having to save up the cash to get in there! However, even though Demitri is talented, sometimes I would feel like he was rushed to get to his next client or not really listening to what I wanted. I'm a girl who likes to change things up a bit, but when I go to Demitri, I get the same cut every single time, regardless of what I tell him. So if you're someone that's looking for a great cut, great color, but not a whole lot of variety to your look, then you should definitely try him out. read more

I went in with the thickest Afro, thinking that styling and trimming my hair was going to be impossible. NOT at all. My first time visiting the Salon in Claremont. As i entered the salon i was greeted by the staff and they were nice and friendly and the Salon itself was clean and very nicely decorated. My stylist was Zendra. She's very kind and patient and goes over everything with you in detail making sure you get the desired look you came in for. Her professionalism is beyond compare, I highly recommended her. She told me not to be afraid to ask questions in regards to my hair, as I am of mixed race and have naturally curly hair and would like to maintain a naturally curly style and keep my hair happy and healthy and grow it out longer :) I chose to go with a Chocolate brown color with some caramel/honey color soft highlights. Zendra was very gentle and able to detangle my very unruly hair. She deep conditioned my hair, then twisted it and i sat under the dryer. Once dryed, she untwisted it and styled it and had my curls soft and bouncy! I'm in love with my color, and curls and will definitely be going back to see Zendra for all my hair needs. read more

This is an excellent salon! My stylist is Sarah Lewis and she does a great job. She has highlighted/cut my hair 2X and I love the color. I'm very picky about my hair not being brassy or the highlights being too stripy which is never a concern here. The salon itself is relaxing and they always has yummy little snacks and infused water. I do recommend parking in their lot (east of the bank) otherwise you will be running out in a drape with foils in to re-park your car after 2 hours. (lesson learned) read more

It's all about TERI JOHNSON! She is literally the best hairstylist I have ever been too! I suck at almost all things girly, I can't curl my own hair, or braids it, or style it in another way than straightening it. I have had side swiped bangs since I was 14 and realized my face looks weird without them. haha I am extremely picky about how they are cut. With most stylist I will even insist on combing them about for them before they cut or have them cut them dry so they don't go the wrong way or turn out two short, or god help me in the case of straight bangs in the shape of a Mickey Mouse widows peak. With Teri, that is never the case. I can count on her and trust her completely!! I even go see her between dyes and cuts for just a bang trim and they come out perfectly! Because, I can't style my hair like most girls, I tend to get bored with my color often. I'm not adventurous enough to try crazy cuts, even though I must admit my confidence in Teri's skills and her care and consideration for her clients, has made me eager to try something a little more wild lately. But when it comes to Teri I can bring a picture of a color from Pinterest or Instagram and show her and she will bring it to life FLAWLESSLY. (I have had issues with many stylist before her with this. One time an auburn hair style ended in a strawberry blonde disaster and a violet ended as maroon ) Most recently, I have taken the habit of just telling Teri, to chose what she would like to try next and letting her make her own magic. The last thing she did for me was baby lights. She chose colors and cut and I just got to sit back and get pampered by her until I came out beautiful (and humble ) haha. Lastly, every time I see her, at the end of the appointment she tells me about what products would be best for my hair. When she is styling my hair, she always stops to explain the technique she is using and will hand me the tool and do a curl or two or show me how to use the wand correctly, and part my hair. She could just do it herself and send me on my way, but Teri's service is above and beyond.
