Loads of fun! My family and I went to Escapology on Christmas Eve and found that the staff was really nice and thorough in explaining how the game would work. We did the Murder on the Orient Express and found that once the game began, we were challenged!! It took us a while to move forward, but we had a great time working through all the clues. In the end, we didn't escape BUT we had a wonderful time working together to figure out the escape puzzle. Given 5 more minutes, we may have actually escaped and saved the train. Escapology was a lot of fun the place alone was pretty cool, it really blends in well with the their theme!!!. We did the murder mansion room and we weren't able to escape. The whole room is well prepared, and you can tell that whomever designed it really put a lot of thought into because it very clever. I would give them five stars, but the staff that came to get us didn't seem the friendliest and the guy who watched the room while we were there we were having a hard time hearing him, and we didn't under them because they spoke very soft. there were some cons about this is that they threw in some items that did not give us any clue. I get that you wanna through us off but, that's just waiting our time because now we're thinking that we have to do something with that certain item. So it can get very confusing and its a waste of time. hence, that we're already have limited time. If i go back to vegas again, i would definitely try the other rooms. read more

While I had friends in town we opted to give it a try. The staff gives the impression that they like their jobs and they are very thorough with instructions, which was a bonus because it was our first time. We did Murder Mansion at Escapology and I have to say this one is probably in my top five of the rooms that I have done. Starting with the location itself it is a very neat atmosphere from the moment that you walk into it. There is a steam punk mural that wallpapers the waiting room and they have various wooden logic puzzles filling the room to entertain yourself while you are waiting on your turn to go. The staff was very friendly, they were welcoming and friendly from the moment that we came in, if a bit rough around the edges (for example failing to introduce themselves, texting while speaking to you, etc) absolutely nothing major and pretty common behavior for younger people. The location is also clean, well organized, and the rubber bracelets you get when you complete a room is a neat way to set themselves up for repeat business. Murder Manson was a lot of fun and the decorum and atmosphere were among the best that I have seen, you genuinely do feel like you are in an English Mansions sitting room while you are in there. The story line is clear and adds to the whole experience (you are wrongfully accused of murder and have to find out who really dun it before the police show up). The one complaint that I have about the story line itself is the solution, we got right to the end of the room and still had really no idea who the actual murderer was until the game master explained it to us. Basically you can figure out who the person is but it is pretty vague and convoluted and doesn't really add anything to the story; I would like to see them amend one clue to have a smoking gun pointing to the actual murderer. The puzzles themselves are a great mix of logic puzzles, critical thinking, seek and find, and there is even a maze at the beginning to free a key. They were all challenging but very doable and most importantly the solutions and how you get to it make sense (there isn't any moon logic that can be common in some rooms). The hint system is also very good, they provide hints that point you in the correct direction while still allowing you for solve the puzzles for yourself. Were I to make one complaint it would be that they tend to give the hints too quickly, I like to struggle a bit in escape rooms without very quickly asking for a hint. All in all great escape room and would be one that I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of them. read more

I officially consider myself an Escape Room nerd and my friends and I are constantly looking for new escape rooms to do. Found Escapology on Groupon and after seeing the reviews on Yelp, we were super excited to try it out. I had a group of 10 and we split up into 2 groups of 5 and both groups did Under Pressure and Budapest Express. Part of the experience and the excitement with escape rooms is the Game Master and the introduction and this place lacked with both. Immediately upon arrival we were greeted by the staff- a younger girl and boy- who were far from friendly. You could tell they weren't there because they were passionate about the games but it was for a paycheck. It definitely started things off on the wrong foot and killed the excitement. They lead us into our room and briefly explained a couple of rules in a very monotone voice, and instructed us to listen to the video. Overall- the rooms were 'good' but not great. All 10 of us agreed there was just nothing that stood out about them. Given the experience, I wouldn't recommend them or go back to try the other rooms. I loved everything about Escapology! We had so much fun here last night with friends and I'll be planning a return visit very soon. The online booking system was easy to use. There are six different games offered and the site has a nice description of each to help select one. From there it was easy to pick a day, a time, and complete the booking. I received an email confirmation that helped as a reminder for me as well. Upon arrival we were greeted and directed to the first set of computers to sign our waivers. Our game host arrived soon after and directed us to our room. Our game for the night was Antidote. Our game host ran through the rules with us and then a screen came on with the scenario for our escape room that night. Once that video was completed the 60 minute clock started. We all had so much fun. The game was hard enough to challenge us, but not so hard that we weren't able to escape. Everything in the room was functional and we were able to ask for clues. There are three included clues and anything beyond that is a time penalty. Once we escaped we took photos and great pride in having escaped! The prices here are comparable to other escape room experiences in town. The actual experience was great and definitely worth a return visit. read more

I came with a group of 4 and we had a good time. We chose antidote (??) the one with bacteria and escaping the poison.. the staff will know. The setting and puzzles weren't too complicated. However a major complaint was Chanel not informing us how the locks work. We had the correct code the first time, but didn't know how to operate the lock. We pulled the lock and it wouldn't open so we figured we missed a hint or the code was for something else. We fiddled with the clue and changed the numbers assuming we misread it, even used a clue! But the clue didn't reveal new information. They finally realized we had the right clue but wasn't operating the lock correctly. We were suppose to PUSH THEN PULL the lock. The rest of the game was smooth after we passed this part of the game. A gentleman asked if there were further remarks about the game. We explained that it would've been nice to know if it as a PUSH THEN PULL. Apparently Chanel was suppose to inform us in the beginning, but missed it. =/ read more

My group and I just completed the Scooby Doo room! First things first, the game master! I felt like I was interacting with my best friend!!! I ADORED her to pieces! She was INCREDIBLE. She HYPED. US. UP. The room itself is a licensed game, so it costs a little extra to complete. BOY WAS IT WORTH EVERY PENNY. It was riddled with... dare I say... RIDDLES. Absolutely entertaining and enjoyable through every step of the way. This experience was 1000/10. Highly recommend to any newcomers, avid escapists, occasional escapists. Escapology rooms are themed so well, you really can't beat them in that respect. I also love that they do private rooms. We have been to the Town Square location several times and love it. We probably won't go back to the Maryland location. We did the Under Pressure room today and there was one puzzle that we had right, but didn't trigger a sound for a few minutes, so that slowed us down. At the end we were on what was obviously the last step but were missing one thing. When the host came in, she didn't even ask if we had questions or offer to show us the missing piece. We kept having hints sent to us without asking. Like 10 total throughout the game. I thought that meant we were lagging but then we finished with 15 minutes to spare. We should've stopped reading the hints off the screen and ignored the game person but I thought they were giving them because we were struggling. So much fun! For cousins day outing we came here and did the Shanghaied room. Check in was pretty easy. The waiting area is pretty cool. They having living room couch set ups with little puzzle games where you can sit and wait for your escape room to be ready. When we arrived our group of six checked in and waited less than five minutes before we were taken to our room. We were explained the rules and how everything worked. Everything was setup well and we escaped before our hour was up. The only down side was that the room was super hot! We did mention it to one of the staff members after and they apologized saying they were having issues with the air in that escape room. Not a big deal for us because we all had fun but it was just uncomfortable. After completing the room, they took our picture and emailed us a copy. I came here with a couple of friends for a fun night out. It was our first time trying out escape rooms so we were excited to give Escapology a chance since we had heard a lot about their rooms. Being that we had no previous experience, we started out with level 6 which was the saloon room. Right of the bat the staff was very welcoming and clear on their instructions. Because of COVID, they are taking extra steps to sanitize the rooms and respect social distancing guidelines which made all of us feel comfortable! The room itself was really clean and fun! We ended up being better at it than we initially thought but we still asked for clues from the staff to help us out. My brothers, sister in law, and mother did the Mansion Murder escape room. It was a first escape room for three in the group and my mom and I had experience at other escape rooms. This was so much fun! There was a scheduling snafu as we had a reservation for 3:00 (or so we thought) and they had us at 9:00. The girl at the front desk was pleasant and able to reschedule us for 6:00. She even gave a credit for a future trip by taking by brother's military discount into account. So when we come back, there will be a decent credit towards that visit. We showed up about 20 minutes early and they let us start a few minutes after we arrived. The room itself was well constructed and the mystery was HARD! We did not escape, LOL. The people were professional and super nice. They let us know we could remove our masks once they left the room. Edit: I was contacted by the upper management of Escapology and they seemed eager to see why I was in such disagreement with their puzzles and the experience I had at their escape rooms. They seemed genuine but obviously passionately upset at my review. I appreciated this response and I hope whatever "criticism" I was able to give was taken well. I changed my review to a 2/5 stars because I feel they remedied my secondary complaint. However, the puzzles in the rooms we have been in aren't what my wife and I enjoy. I know that's totally subjective but it's important to me, it's the only reason we do rooms. My wife and I would be willing to try another room at some point and I will adjust my review accordingly. Thank you for reading. My wife and I have been doing escape rooms since about 2015 and have done about 110 rooms in San Diego, LA, San Francisco, and about 20 in Las Vegas. Escapology does not live up to expectations. Here's why... We did the Cuban Crisis on July 28th. They had us start the room with pretty clear instructions and soon we started solving puzzles. When trying to solve some of the puzzles we noticed that they didn't have any indication or a reason as to how they are involved in the theme. It was simply, "that's how you solve it" when asked after. These are not the types of puzzles that I enjoy. The difficulty in solving a puzzle shouldn't lie with where to enter the result. I notice the chain type franchise escape rooms are notorious for this. It's as if they designed the room backwards, with the answer and solution in mind without the question first. That makes these puzzles unreasonably confusing. The joy in this game we play is solving the problem not where to put the variable in the equation if you get my meaning. In addition to having unclear puzzles the workers there seemed unhappy and un-enthused. I understand that it could be problems with Covid-19 but I've seen this behavior at other Escapology locations previously. When we asked for a hint for example, I don't believe they were paying attention to what portion of the room we were in, let alone the right puzzle (not a big deal). After informing them of our progress they typed out a hint that only confused us more, because the hint was referencing the wrong lock with the puzzle we were on. Instead of queuing us to try our correct answer on the correct lock (which we said out loud) they just repeated the hint in a different way, which further confused us. I enjoy it much more when the people helping us through our adventure are involved in it. The most enjoyable escape rooms are often designed by the owner of the business. When third party people are the ones designing the puzzle there is a disconnect between the problem, the solution, and the story. As of right now the quality of Escapology and its franchise is not appealing to us and we won't be spending money there. However, we are considering trying it one more time but we have done all the rooms at the location in San Diego and it was just as disappointing. I was visiting Family in Las Vegas and we wanted to do something to get out of this 110 degrees weather! After going over our options we decided trying a escape room would be great. No one has done it before and we loved the idea of experiencing something as an group! The first thing I noticed about this location is the excellent customer service and how good the place looks! We were a party of 11 so sadly we could not be completely together (some of the elders in our group decided to op out of it) so keep in mind if you have a large party you might have to split into different rooms. Also another thing to keep in mind it's $35 a person. You DO NOT have to pay that if you just look around! (We found a great deal on Groupon and they were able to honor it without forcing us to purchase through the site). We decided on the train room and it was amazing how much detail was put into it. It was difficult at first and we literally though we wouldn't make it. (Spent nearly 30mins in the 1 of 3 rooms) but we pulled through and escaped! We love doing escape rooms back in Hawaii so we knew we had to check out a few in Vegas. We really enjoyed this location and company. Due to Covid and everything when you first walk in they have masks, hand sanitizer and gloves available for you. After checking in at the front we were told to wait for an employee to bring us into our room. Before going into the room, they take you're temperatures and ask if you need to go bathroom. Rooms are sanitized and cleaned after each use. There are signs on the door stating if a room and clean and sanitized. The first time we came we did the Narco room. We enjoyed it. The puzzles in the room were good and little bit difficult and it really makes you think. We were able to get out with 7 seconds left. The next day we knew we wanted to do another room and originally we wanted to do the under pressure room it wasn't available till later so we ended up doing the Budapest Express. I really like this room. When you first enter the room, the way it was set up and built, it really feels like you're there. We enjoyed this location and the rooms so much that we wanted to do another room before heading home. So we waited for about an hour and did the Cuban crisis. First off, Shoutout to my friend Aaron for hooking me up with this awesome experience here at Escapology! The game rooms cost $30 per person and you only get 1 hour to escape When you make your purchase, they make you sign a waiver/ agreement form that's usually on their touch screen displays but the WiFi was down so we did paperwork lol. We chose to do the Shanghai room which is one of the harder rooms they have. I'm not going to spoil the fun but they have awesome employees/techs who guide you throughout the game. Before you start, they set ground rules for you to follow; so don't destroy their property and be mindful of others. They start the game off by showing a storyline video in the room to make it feel more like an adventure related to the room/game you're in. Afterwards it displays a countdown in the screen so you can keep track of the time. If you get stuck on a clue too long, they can also display hints on the screen too. I had a blast trying to solve clues in the Shanghai room. And yes, it took us 50 minutes to escape... the best score for that room is 22 minutes tops!! These people are very clever to have finished that fast! Escapology has over 8 different rooms to try from. I recommend you try one of them out of all, if you're an addicted escape artist. don't be overwhelmed if you think it's not possible to escape because they have easy to hard level rooms too choose from. First impressions are super important and set the mood for the entire experience and the first impression was horrible. Our friend called to make sure a Groupon was going to be honored and the guy that answered (think his name is Michael) sounded like he was done for the day - not a good attitude and wasn't helpful at all. Then we arrived and I'm assuming the guy at the front desk is the same guy from the phone. I open the Groupon voucher and he doesn't scan the bar code but instead makes us write down the code. There's 2 codes on the voucher as you can see from my photo. I asked which one he wants me to write down and he said "the code on the screen" and I said that there's 2 and show him my phone. He spends a good 15 seconds looking at my phone before saying "uh I'm guessing the redemption code so it can be redeemed" with so much attitude BUT OBVIOUSLY YOU DIDNT KNOW EITHER SO??? Also during the game, there was a key out out in the open and "it unlocked a different box from the one it was supposed to since we get a lot of locks from the same manufacturer so multiple locks tend to work with the same key" - I tried using the lock in the one it was "supposed" to unlock and it didn't unlock... so not sure what you're trying to say??? This is coming from the same guy from earlier and he kept saying that this is considered cheating. It's not our fault the game ended early. I'm frustrated that they were trying to put the blame on us by calling us cheaters when the key was in an obvious place and it unlocked a box that it wasn't supposed to due to their manufacturer settings. How is that our fault??? Anyway.... The production of the escape room was actually fantastic and well put together with the various puzzles but the service and how we were treated was horrible. read more
