Husband came here for some coffee, i spotted a beauty of a gluten free muffin. It was delicious. The muffin was buttery which was a pleasant surprise. I personally don't like any fruit in my muffin so i took the blueberries out. However if you do like blueberries in, you will probably like these. When I am in Escondido I crave fresh gelato from this spot. While it might be a small spot their gelato is fresh and tasty and bursting with flavor. Their flavors are always fresh and seasonally which I love, my family has even donated some lemons for their fresh lemon gelato. On top of gelato they always have delicious paninis, the grilled cheese with pesto is my favorite and I will get it with some soup as well when I go. If you find a flavor of gelato that you are loving you can always take home a pint or a kelo to enjoy at home. read more

Yum! The gelato here is amazing! Parking was easy to find on the street. There was a line but it went fast. Service was friendly. Super cute aesthetic inside. It's not a huge place but they have plenty of seating outside and a couple tables inside. I got hazelnut gelato, my favorite and it was amazing. We'll be back! read more

A longtime place of joy and warmth where service is friendly and the sweet treats are always served with a smile. It's a place where you can bring your family to have a refreshing dessert in Escondido. Lots of parking on the street as well as the City Parking Lot across the street. You feel quite at home when enjoying the best gelato in Escondido!!! Always a great selection. You feel comfortable enjoying the gelato indoors or outdoors. Can't believe I've never tried this spot!! Amazing quality. Helpful staff. The pistachio is bomb! I paired it with the hazelnut cookie which tastes like Ferraro Rocher. The place was packed which was a good sign that it would be good. My only "complaint" would be that they were kind of melted. Not sure if gelato is supposed to be that way. read more

What a great way to end lunch with friends, with some gooooood gelato. EscoGelato is a cute shop that offer delicious flavors, pastries, specialty drinks, panini's and more! There is indoor and outdoor seating. There's a tree that provides some shade as well as the table with umbrellas. I ordered a scoop of espresso and honeycomb. You will not believe the flavors they offer! They also offer vegan and dairy options. The service was friendly and quick. We choose to sit outside and enjoy the weather and the creamy and tasty gelato. I look forward to returning many times to try the many flavors of gelato and all the menu has to offer. read more

I've been coming here for years. I love that the menu includes locally sourced or organic options, sometimes there's even crazy gelato options like lavender basil As for the food, I'm definitely a fan of their paninis. They also offer gluten-free bread! If you do get a gluten free sandwich, the bread pieces are about half the size of a regular one, so they offer adding on a salad or soup for free, or if you just want the panini, i think they give you a good discount, but i normally take the salad option as it pairs great. I would recommend dining in instead of taking the food to-go, as I've had multiple incorrect orders. That being said, I still highly rate the little shop because of its options, freshness, and location. If you can't find street parking (because you can never find street parking in DT Escondido), there's a parking lot across the street that normally has plenty of parking. read more

EscoGelato continues to be such a chill and beautiful place with good food, drinks, people and (of course) gelato. The staff are always so friendly and start conversation from time to time. They deliver food orders to you. The flavors of their gelato can vary but they have consistently offered two or three vegan options. This time I tried their Avocado toast and my friend ordered one of their salads and they are both so delicious. Their Avo toast is vegan and has a light essence of rosemary which I am totally living for! I really appreciate how EscoGelato consistently has vegan options (thank you!!). I also had a maple flavored iced coffee with oat milk (which I recommend if they still have it) and their vegan chocolate chip cookie- #peferctpair! They have plenty of outdoor seating. Great people, good vibes... if I can give you all ten stars I would! Thank you for being such a beautiful place that truly makes Grand Ave, grand! read more

MY FAVORITE LIL PLACE!!! BEST GELATO north county slash anywhere near here!! I truly cannot say enough good things about this place!! (Please Read!!) - Pretty much everything is made in house! Yes from the delicious rosemary olive oil bread (used for paninis and hot tip can be bought by loaf to bring home) - to the pastries (including vegan and gluten free options) - to ALLL the gelato and gelato cakes! - The Gelato is life changing - they usually have about a dozen flavors every day and frequently changing. They ALWAYS have at least 1-3 nondairy/vegan sorbet options. They have flavors from chocolate/vanilla/strawberry (freshest strawberry you'll get) - to something fun like earl grey/fruity cereal/caramel shortbread. Their fruit flavors are insanely good/fresh/real - like smoothie bowl good. They also make Gelato Cakes (going on 3 years in a row of that being my birthday cake)!!!! - The Coffee - fantastic!! They make a great latte - and have mugs for here drinks. Their house-made syrups are great. Recommend trying an Affogato to get best of both worlds with espresso and gelato. - The Food - I love their paninis - fresh high quality ingredients - made to order each time. You can get a half panini/sandwich combo with soup/salad too. - The Patio - feels like you're not in Escondido but a lil European cafe. We've been coming here for years now. EscoGelato is still one of the best coffee shop/gelato places in the area, and is definitely worth stopping in. The staff, service and food are still top notch after all these year., I'd say it's gotten better... They've extended their patio into the street a couple years ago during the whole "distancing". Which is Awesome! If I ever had a complaint, it would have been that the place is too small, but now there is double the seating. The patio has some umbrellas for shade on those really sunny days, and there's a nice sized tree that helps with shade too. The inside has had a few changes too. Sadly the kids nook was replaced by a cooler and a new book case runs along one wall to showcase local wines from the area, cups/mugs, and other specialty items. Kids still seem to love coming here. Instead of adventures in the kids nook, they explore the patio. The tables inside all have access to power outlets. They play some contemporary/jazzy music low and the noise is about average to quiet depending on how many people are coming in. All in all, EscoGelato is a great place to come as a family, meet up with friends or come on your own. read more

I'm going to upgrade them to 5 stars. I've been coming here for years, and this is truly the best Gelato anywhere around! I even prefer them to the fancier places in La Jolla or Little Italy (you know who you are...). The best thing has to be the rotating list of seasonal flavors. Cool combinations, and lots of crunchy or fruity inclusions into the gelato make this a winning choice. And super high quality ingredients! I try not to come too often, lol. But I'm always excited to see what new choices they have. Some people don't get anything unless their favorite flavor (like Tiramisu) is there, but I can always find a couple of flavors that I like. Most recently Almond Speculoos, Lemon Cookie, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Hazelnut Cookie (Oreo) were my choices. My all-time favorite is the Strawberry Basil, but it's summertime only, and hard to find. But i still keep trying! read more

What a great find! They were pretty busy for an evening desert option. The gelato consistency was perfect. All the flavors we tried were great. Coffee, mango sorbet, and pistachio. The flavors were pronounced without being overpowering. There's a couple tables and chairs inside and outside. The employees were friendly. EscoGelato is located in downtown Escondido with plenty of options for street parking. There is also a patio outside that is spacious, perfect for if you want to grab a bite inside and sit outside! They also also dogs in store! The gelato itself was delicious. We ordered the Malt Chip and the Chocolate split with Tiramisu. It was around $9 for two smalls and a small size is more than enough. The service was great, the server gave me plenty of recommendations and a few samples to best pick my flavors. I didn't get to try too many but I liked what I tried! read more

Got dinner in the area, needed something sweet after, and a Yelp search brought us here! This cute and quaint shop is right off of Grand Ave with plenty of street parking. The inside gives off such a warm and cozy vibe. There is not a lot of indoor seating but there are plenty of tables outside. I immediately had my eyes set on the ricotta and fig gelato. I was with my partner and he asked for a couple of samples before settling on spiced caramel. For both of our small-sized cups of gelato, I paid around $9 which I think is decently priced. My order was delicious! However, the fig flavor was sometimes overwhelming with the big chunks of fig. When the fig wasn't dominating the flavor of the creamy ricotta gelato, it was super tasty. The spice caramel didn't have too strong of a flavor but it was still pretty good and not too sweet! Overall, we were both pleased with our dessert choice for the night! read more

We love this spot. Summer. Fall. Winter. Spring. ALL!! The flavors are always amazing. I'm only sad when they sell out. The staff has consistently been friendly, even when the line is out the door. Tonight, on a cool wintery night, they still had fresh flowers on the tables. There is limited seating inside, maybe 4-6 seats. Most seating is outside, but, we live in the most amazing place, so grab a chair outside! I have tastes all the local ice creams, either at the shops or scoop fest, and this shop is consistently topping the others when it comes to infused flavors, inventive creations. Stop here. Spend $10 on a date for two, you'll be super happy!! read more

I am so sad to post this review- but my experience today June 20th, was not pleasant. I walked into the coffee shop at 855pm.. there was a huge line for people to get gelato, when it was finally my turn it was 903pm.. I was not there to order gelato but instead a latte. I was told the barista had closed down and weren't able to make me the latte.. no way! I went home super sad about the customer service over all, nothing like in the past with the previous employees. This kiddos are so lazy to even provide a positive customer service. Bye! read more

My first visit was obviously very forgettable as I didn't even write a review. But, I stopped in again and let me tell you- it exceeded my expectations! I tried the browned butter pecan, and it was way too sweet for me. I did enjoy their waffle cone, even though they don't make them in-house. I ordered the sour cream brown sugar gelato for my affogato- and wow! It was huge, and priced right! It was decadent and rich but not too sweet. We loved the Pear Spice, Blueberry Crumble, Passion sorbet, German/chocolate. Btw, they offer a kid's sized cup (not on the menu) but I opted for the small size so I could share it w my kid. The girl who helped me with my order let me try all the samples I wanted to try with no question! I ended up getting the strawberry and noccioline (tastes like nutella) gelato. The gelato & sorbets are wonderful. The strawberry sorbet has actual fruit in it. A large gelato allows you to have 3 flavors. Cookies & cream, vanilla & chocolate seems basic but all were delicious. Friendly service too. Cute shop with some gift items to purchase. A few tables inside & more outside. They serve paninis, salads & soup as well so we will be back to try those for sure. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Kayla S.

Kayla started working at EscoGelato in 2012 when Suzanne, the founder of EscoGelato, gave Kayla a chance on exploring her culinary interests. After a year of working at EscoGelato exploring culinary arts, Kayla became very close with Suzanne. Working in the food industry was something Kayla wanted to pursue. It has always been a dream of Kayla's to visit Italy where her family originated from. In 2018 that dream came true when Suzanne asked Kayla to join her in going to a gelato convention in Rimini, Italy. Kayla realized EscoGelato was no longer just a job but a passion. Kayla fell in love with the food and culture in Italy finally understanding exactly why her Italian nana was so passionate about cooking. Kayla's desire with EscoGelato is to spread the same joy of great cuisine & culture while using quality fresh ingredients to deliver a unique Italian atmosphere. For service they're all very friendly since it's primarily the family owners who serve you. You go up to the front and place your order and they'll bring the food you order to your table, they do close early since this is a breakfast spot first and foremost, so expect to arrive early if you want to eat here. I usually order The Works in a half since a full size sandwich is well over $20, excluding any additions or substitutions you may make. The sandwich does taste really good, but it does come at a steep price. They've grown in popularity over the years, which may have influenced their pricing (by a lot) which in my opinion does outweigh it's value. While I do enjoy my infrequent visits, I can say this location is more of an occasional treat, as opposed to a constant meal to be had often.

The layout of the restaurant, the outdoor gardens, the stonework, landscaping, and overall atmosphere make it one of the most unique brewery destinations in Southern California. Every detail of the property feels thoughtfully designed and creates an experience that goes beyond just food and drinks. We recently attended a baby shower in one of the outdoor event spaces, and it was perfect. The service was outstanding, the food was excellent, the drinks were great, and the staff was incredibly accommodating to our group's needs. They helped make the event memorable for both the parents-to-be and all of the guests. Places like this are hard to replace. Stone Brewing Escondido has always been more than just a brewery it's a destination. It would be incredibly sad to see such a beautiful and iconic location close its doors.

My own issue deals solely with the cost. Came here with my son, all we did was eat two entrees and an appetizer between us, and did nothing else. With drink and after tax and tip, the cost was well over $90. No games, no play, just burgers (plus fries and poke tacos) for two, costs as much as many Californian's net after a full day of work. When you're used to feeding the whole family for about half as much when going out (or a little more when eating sushi), that price was a bit rough. Still, the food is very good. My son and I each ate The Draft Republic Burger. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, very flavorful, and the toppings were high quality. The fries were crisp and salted well. And the side salad wasn't too bad. Both of us ate our entrees and gave it high marks. We had started with the Tres Poke Tacos, where the Tuna was very tasty, steeped in a flavorful marinade, and felt nice and fresh. Definitely a good starter. And the restaurant itself is gorgeous. A lot of space, beautifully furnished, kind of industrial meets art deco with some new age greenery architecture thrown in. I like it a lot. But, as an aging Gen-X'er, who used to go to arcades back in the day, and hates what new arcades have become, the amenities are under appreciated by me. All of that pads the price tag a bit out of what I am willing to pay just for dinner. Which may not be fair to Draft Republic, but that's where it left me.
