I recently hired Chicago Sewer & Drain Professionals, Inc. after reading great reviews on both…read moreGoogle and Yelp, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. My kitchen sink was draining incredibly slowly, and my previous attempts to fix it just weren't working. From the very first phone call, the team was professional and easy to work with. Scheduling the appointment was a breeze, and I was given a courtesy call on the day of service with an estimated arrival time, which ended up being earlier than expected. I really appreciated the heads-up, as it worked out just fine for my schedule. When the plumbers arrived, they were prompt, courteous, and took the time to ask about the issue before assessing the situation. They gave me a reasonable verbal quote and got to work right away, completing the service the same day. I also liked that they accept credit card payments, making the whole process even more convenient. Thanks to Chicago Sewer & Drain, my kitchen sink is back to normal, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. Would I hire them again? Absolutely! Would I recommend them? 100%

I had used them a couple times before but will not be using them going forward, and neither should anyone else. I called them about a leak last year, which they initially struggled to locate. Understandable, but the technicians insisted that we kept needing to cut holes in the drywall to locate it. After 4 separate holes had been cut, we asked if they had a camera they could use to identify the location of the leak in the stack to prevent further unnecessary holes (since we'd have to repair the drywall ourselves or hire another professional). They (nonsensically) took this as us being difficult and wanting to cancel the job. We explained this to both the technicians and to ROC himself before they indicated only one employee had a camera and scheduled a later appointment for that technician to come out. The leak was subsequently identified in the middle of the bathroom wall (there was a crack in the cast iron plumbing stack), resulting in about 3 ft of the stack in the middle of the wall being replaced. We were annoyed about having multiple holes in multiple bathrooms to replace after the fact, but were happy with the plumbing work itself and were happy to have it done. Fast forward to this year, now we are in the midst of a bathroom renovation. After the demo of the floor and shower walls was complete, it became apparent that we would need to replace the shower valve and likely the toilet flange given its age. Though I had not been 100% satisfied with our earlier experience, I decided to give ROC's another chance because we do our best to support local business and because they had knowledge of our home, the plumbing, and had done work in the very same bathroom before (the same bathroom they replaced 3 ft of the stack in last year starting at the middle of the wall up). We call to have a technician come out to replace the shower valve and look at the toilet flange. They schedule us for about 5 days later, but when the technician came out they were unprepared to replace the valve, explaining that someone had called off that day and they would just be giving estimates. Our understanding was that the valve was going to be replaced that day (and that we'd get a quote on the flange), so this was disappointing and set our renovation back. Nevertheless, we asked for quotes to replace the valve, the flange, and an alternative quote to replace the plumbing from the flange to the point in the center of the wall that we had replaced last year. We are told the office will reach out to us with quotes and to schedule the work. This is on a Thursday morning. We don't hear anything and reach out the next day (Friday) given that we are eager to get the work done so the renovation can continue. We're told that the technician had not submitted the paper work yet and that ROC would call us with quotes on Monday. We found this a little inconvenient but agreed to wait for his call Monday. Monday came and went with no call. I don't like feeling like we're chasing someone down to give them our business but given that they had already been out to our house once, we called them again to follow up about the quotes. ROC seemed surprised to hear from us and indicated that the technician had still not submitted their paperwork (technician came out Thursday morning, it's the following Tuesday afternoon). He later calls back with an unprofessional attitude after speaking with the technician stating a couple numbers while stating they cannot give a quote on replacing the pipe from the flange to the center of the wall where they replaced before without us opening the wall. We reiterate that we understand they cannot give an exact number and ask if they could give us a general ball park idea or range of what something like that costs given the length that would be replaced and that they worked in the bathroom on the plumbing behind that wall before. ROC got increasingly agitated and nasty, stating (1) that his technician "was there" (as if we also weren't in our home when we were initially asking for the quote), (2) that he can't give us a quote (which again, we were asking for a general range and repeatedly reiterated it was for our knowledge going into this and not to hold him to a number), (3) that they don't know what it looks like behind the wall (again, see point 2 above, but also, we reminded him that this is false and they actually do know what it looks like because they literally did work behind this very wall last year), and (4) that we should find a different company that can give a quote without opening the wall and go with them instead. Given his attitude, his intentional obtuseness, and unprofessionalism, we thanked him for his time and confirmed we would be going elsewhere for this and future plumbing work. This company is rude, unprofessional, and does not deserve

The plumber arrived late for appointment. He did not seem very knowledgeable. He kept muttering to…read morehimself and also kept repeating everything he said to me. I had a leaky shower faucet. He looked at the leak and went to Association office of my condo building to request a water shut off to change a cartridge. He was told the shut off would have to be scheduled. He came back to remove cover to see if I had a shut off by the cartridge. I did not. Even though I did not have a shut off he decided to remove the cartridge anyway, but was unable to turn it. Then he said if he was able to remove the cartridge everything would get quite wet because the water wasn't able to be shut off. Then he said he didn't want to get wet and would not try to remove the cartridge. He told me that he would have to return in 3-5 days when the water shut off to my tier could be scheduled. Since he could not remove the cartridge he decided that it was on too tight. He told me I would have to soak rags in vinegar and wrap them around the cartridge and keep rags wet until he returned. He told me if I didn't do this that he might have to go into the wall in the hallway to get to the cartridge. I told them that he would have to get permission from the Association to do something so drastic. The Association told him no. Then before he left he told me to keep the bathroom door closed and leave the ceiling fan on until he returned in 3-5 days. He closed the door. I told him that I had the fan on but wasn't sure it was even working. He did not check the fan and closed the door. When he left, he left muddy boot prints from my bathroom all the way to my front door. When I responded to the ad on Yelp the price to come out was quoted as $69.99 to come out. When he replied to my email he changed the price and said it would be $39.99, but before he left he changed the price again to $69.99. I am a disabled senior citizen dealing with a stranger in my unit and was afraid to question him. I notified his company about the mess he made and they said they had no one to clean it up except him. I told them I did not want him coming back at all because I didn't trust him. I also talked to Association office and we decided he was not competent and that he should not return. I hired a different plumber to come and look at the faucet. They came and found the bathroom door closed and asked me why it was closed. I told them that Preferred Plumbing closed the door. When the door was opened my entire bathroom was dripping water - from the ceiling, down the walls, dripping from the light fixtures and my medicine cabinet. All of the knobs on both my medicine cabinet and my vanity were corroded from the dripping water. The paint was pealing off some of the walls and bubbling up on others. The stain on my medicine cabinet was also peeling off. The floor was so wet I had to put towels down so this plumber could have access to the leaky faucet. Even though I had told Grant that I didn't believe the fan was working, he never checked it before he closed the door. The light fixture was blinking off and on. The new plumber told me that the water probably got into the walls and may have shorted out the wires. Even the floor tiles were coming up. The bathroom door was so distorted from the excessive water it had absorbed it had to be forced to open it all the way. I have been back and forth with Preferred Plumbing explaining the discrepancy in the pricing and the amount of damages Grant caused by closing the door, but they decided that Grant was not at fault. They also refused to adjust the pricing even though I sent them a copy of the email that Grant sent to me quoting the price as $39.99. When the new plumber came he had no problems removing the cartridge even though I had been unable to apply the vinegar soaked rags that Grant insisted were necessary. I would not recomend Grant or Preferred Plumbing to anyone. They changed the pricing and caused a lot of damage to my bathroom. They accepted no responsibility for the price changes Grant made and refused to take responsibility for any of the damages that Grant caused by closing the bathroom door without checking to see if the fan was working even though I told Grant that I did not believe it was working.

My experience with them started off as a non-emergency consultation. Enrique came out right on schedule, we walked thru the issues, and I got a text with the official estimate. He was very clear about what needed to be done and how. He didn't try to scare me into a remodel (yes someone else tried that). I also got estimates from 2 others, but SR was the best. Their estimate wa comfortably within my budget. NOTHING WAS LEAKING AT THAT TIME so I planned to schedule work early January. Then I came home to leaking ceiling. Since they're available 24/7, i called their office. Maria was able to schedule Jimmy to come out within a couple hours. He made sure the pipes were OK, then found the bad seal on my tub. Four hours after coming home my ceiling was no longer leaking, my tub was sealed, and we had plans to fix the rest before the end of the week. Finally, the day of the planned project arrived. Jimmy came out early because I had an afternoon commitment. Everything went exactly as he said it would. Time and cost matched my estimate/ consultation EXACTLY. (Luckily no surprises midway thru the project). He wrapped up, checked his work, and cleaned up. Will 100% be saving this business to my favorites.
