Had a delicious lunch at Greek from Greece in university city. Popular restaurant close to Drexel. Spacious dinning area with outdoor seating. Went for hot bar. Many menu options. Salmon was delicious! Added fresh vegetables, rice, tzaziki, hummus and peta bread. Sat outside on a beautiful summer day. Spoke with the owner, who is very easy to talk to and passionate about his restaurant. He is a Greek American and Philly native. Visit GFG regularly to meet up with people who go to Drexel or to do some work on campus when I need a change of scenery. Recently, I was having a quick afternoon meet-up with some friends. Coffee is pretty OK, but the selection of Greek pastries and food is pretty wide. I've had the food before, which I found to be just OK, but the pastries (esp. the spanakopita) was spot on and delicious. I had some non-coffee drinks recently, and they were good enough to feel refreshed, but nothing to phone home about. Lots of seating here, but usually a lot of it is taken by Drexel student groups working. Back room has a lot more but is also strangely dim, so I'd honestly have a hard time if I was found to be working back there. Front seating though is nice with the natural lighting! For some reason they were blasting music today at a level that made it difficult to work even through AirPods. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something about Greek cafes in particular, but it wasn't the greatest environment. Service is always prompt. I've found it to not always be the friendliest but they get the job done. Late hours are a plus amongst cafes in U-City, so I'll still stop by. read more

Was my first time here since the transition from Drexel Pizza to Greek from Greece. They changed the inside layout a little bit as well. Staff behind counter was so nice!!! Make sure to avoid at the :50 and :20 of the hour since that's when classes get out and there will be a line of students waiting! Really liked the coffee and also had great looking selection of pastries and sandwiches. read more

Great lunch place for pastries/bowls/etc.! Went and got a lunch special bowl, where I got to pick each component. The worker helping me was super friendly and gave me great recs. My favorite parts of the bowl were the salmon and the zucchini! Salmon was rich and lots of flavor and the zucchini was a little smoky. In combination with the carbs and other veggies, it was a great meal- super filling for about $15. The mocha was not that good though, so I'd probably stay away from the coffee. Watered down and not a strong espresso back. read more

Their pastries were the hit of our family reunion. We took their treats to a group of thirty people and they were gone in minutes. Got up this morning and decided I would grab the kids and head downtown for coffee. I found our new spot! We had homemade traditional Greek pastries along with real Greek coffee. Everything was phenomenal! Full of flavor, fresh, delicious and priced very reasonably! They also sell products imported from Greece. The vibe of this cafe is chill and relaxing, with plenty of seating available to chat or study. They serve plenty of hot beverages and coffee, and also food options. I don't think I've ever felt compelled to write a review before, but this place is GREAT! Walked over here with some friends around 9am and was greeted very warmly by the front of house staff, and then again by the owners working as bakers in the back. There was a very homey and welcoming vibe. The freddo (something like an iced americano topped with cold milk foam) was delightful. The espresso was bright without being too acidic. The foam had tight enough bubbles that it didn't just collapse on drinking, but was sturdy to meet the task. If you get this (which I definitely recommend), ditch the straw and lid and just drink it. This way, as you tilt the cup back to drink, the espresso gets pulled through the milk foam and it mixes just as it hits your mouth. I also got a pastry. I don't know if this is the regular schedule, but right when we got here at like 9:30, there were some sweet pastries coming literally fresh off the tray. Like steaming hot fresh. I have never seen that happen in any college town cafe I've been to before... EVER. That's amazing. (Well, there are some other cafes that do this, but they definitely feel quite a bit more pretentious and far less down to earth.) This place apparently used to be a pizza joint, so they have all the equipment necessary to bake everything in house. Every other hip, good-vibes, college-town cafe I've been to gets their pastries shipped in via some truck. The hostess running the front of house was very helpful and accommodating. They just opened, so they're still figuring things out (e.g. having everything stocked, having all the machines ready, etc.), but she was very good with directing us toward other options, that, to be honest, might actually have been better than what I thought I wanted in the first place. All in all, would definitely recommend. Plus they got good wifi and a reasonable outlet situation, with good lighting that's neither too harsh nor too moody. read more

LOVE this place! This spot used to be a pizza joint, so I'm glad it changed to healthy, Greek food. The workers were so nice in helping me decide what I wanted. The food is so fresh. I went with the bowl. Base, meat, two sides, and a side salad for a super good price. I also got an iced black tea that was super good and not bitter at all. The place is also decorated so nice and everything is so clean-- even the bathrooms were spotless. I finished the meal and was greeted by who I assume is the owner. He asked me if I enjoyed the food and I definitely did and finished everything. He even took my trash for me! Overall, I love this place and cannot wait to try their sandwiches, coffees, and their pastries. They have good hours too so if you want to study, you definitely can. The server warned me it would be spicy, but it arrived almost completely bland. I had to ask for extra black pepper just to get some flavor. The mussels and shrimp were very good, but the pasta / sauce ratio was off. There wasn't nearly enough sauce to coat the pasta, which left the dish lacking flavor. From the photo, it looks like the sauce would cover everything, but once you start mixing it, you realize it doesn't go far at all. Then I ordered the warm apple cobbler for dessert. I was expecting something baked and comforting. Instead I received uncooked oats mixed with cooked apples and a scoop of ice cream on top. Why is this called warm apple cobbler on the menu? And why didn't they explain in the description that this contains uncooked oats in every bite? I was so disappointed because I don't eat oats and certainly would not have ordered this if I would have known. It resembles a breakfast granola bar rather than a cobbler. It felt lazy and misleading. I paid for my meal using my phone. After I left a tip and completed the transaction, the server told me, "We usually don't accept anything less than 18%," and pointed out that what I left was much lower than what they expect. Then she walked away without another word. Even though the menu clearly states that only applies to parties of six or more. I was dining alone. Tips are earned, and honestly, the food wasn't that good, especially not after being served a trail mix dessert pretending to be cobbler. I was surprised she questioned the amount I chose to leave for a solo meal, especially after everything was already processed. I shouldn't have left anything at all. Tipping is optional, and the experience just didn't earn more. Still decent though! They've got a nice selection of seasonal drinks, serve Verve, and also have fun Capital One branded giveaways every once in a while. There's tons of seating, BUT it tends to all get taken up quite quickly. Sometimes there's some unhoused around the building, including in the bathrooms despite needing a code to get in, but it's not too much of a detraction of it being a good working and gathering space.

A lot of places advertise matcha, but this one actually delivers. I ordered one of their matcha desserts with ice cream, and it was creamy, refreshing, and let the matcha flavor shine instead of burying it under sugar. My only complaint is that it was pretty warm inside. It was a hot summer day, and I honestly couldn't tell if the air conditioning was running or if it was just fans. Either way, it wasn't very cool inside. Thankfully I had ice cream, so it didn't bother me too much, but it's something to keep in mind if you're stopping by on a really hot day. Overall, another great visit. Friendly staff, consistently high-quality matcha, and a fun atmosphere. If you're a matcha lover, this is still one of my favorite spots in Chinatown.

It had the perfect filling-to-bread ratio, and as someone who loves anything Biscoff, this was super satisfying. Both of these donuts were incredibly soft and had the perfect texture. The apple fritter ranked third for us, but it was still really good. It wasn't as sweet as the other two, which was actually nice and helped balance everything out. I do wish it had been a little crispier and had more pieces of apple throughout, but I still enjoyed it. I'd absolutely come back to try more of their donuts, and I definitely want to check out some of their other bakery items too!

That location used to be a pawn shop and they turned that sad corner into a vivid nice atmosphere. It sweats creativity and technology. As soon as you get it you can make your order using a self-service tablet, very easy to use, next to it you will find that mercy which is very nice and high quality items. You can order and pay right away. The walls are decorated with really tasteful street art. Tha food is fresh and delicious, please try the cafe con leche with evaporated milk. Despite the good experience the people behind the bar aren't too welcoming, not sure why they don't smile more or give you a warm experience but it is ok, you don't need to interact with them that much. read more
