As an ex New Yorker surfing is a fantasy unfortunately for me it's too late but my son started learning how to surf and needed to get him a wetsuit the suit ripped the second day he surfed in it and after speaking to the owner named Sonny he went above and beyond what I would expect to be good service. He did not have an exact replacement suit so he upgraded it to a more expensive model at no extra cost. Great Vibe, Fast and knowledgable customer service. When I came in to check out the boards they had, I was amazed at how many selections their were at the start. I was greeted by Tommy and basically told him, "I'm brand new and starting out with skating" and he automatically knew which board for me to get. He picked out this awesome long board and it was like... Harry Potter finding his wand in the first movie, I pretty much knew that the board he picked out was the one. Reasonably priced, I purchased the board and was on my way out. Honestly, was expecting to sit down and talk out what my needs for being a beginner was but taking the long board out on the strand and riding it was a breeze and rolled over edges and such with ease. I used to be loyal to Surf Concepts, but now I have to find another local shop to give my business to. ET Surf has super friendly staff, and they are always attentive and helpful when I walk in. I think the only thing that would make this place better is posting pics of their boards, even the used ones, on their website. Rider Shack does it. ET staff was so incredibly good that I'm taking time to recognize three young guys . I know one was Anthony and another was River . I didn't get the other fellas name . I told the manager that " I don't know who's in charge for hiring but these three kids were as cool As it gets. " These guys put together two skate decks sized my kids for wetsuits . This place is a great one to buy a board as a gift. I don't surf but my significant other does. Check in and see Mikey, he's loads of fun. guy that you can tell has spent lots of time in the water and loves boards. they've got a bunch to choose from and a good trade in policy. they sell some girl clothes and shoes. there's a bathroom with the toilet up on this big slab so you feel like you're tiny cause you can't really put your feet on the floor. i"d go there just for the bathroom experience if you're not into surfing. and as a perk there's a dog that hangs out there, his name is "buddy' and he chases this little ball. _____________________________________ updates: My husband and I have been back a few times ...including a trip that got us a board, sold back a board, got me a wetsuit, him a thicker wetsuit , me a cute little skirt , him 4 pairs of board shorts and then down the line got his wetsuit fixed due to some stitching coming out. Best surf shop in the South Bay for selection of surf boards and wet suits. The Just Longboards part of the store has the best selection of long boards around. cons: parking sucks. It's dangerous getting in and out of the parking lot. They almost never have sales (they will price match). The store is old and disorganized. read more

A friend recommended ET Surf after talking about my desire to get my own gear this second season of snowboarding. I showed up today with a board I bought to get it tuned/waxed. One guy (the receipt says Trevor so I'll call him that for now :) showed up as I was approaching the back end of the store. He carried the board to the back and told me that I didn't even need the "full tune up" for the board (just one level down at around $25 This might be simple but I really appreciated the fact that I wasn't sold on spending more money i.e. "you need to get this thing overhauled". Honesty goes a long way. After going over some snowboard info/tips, I asked him if I could try on some boots. Trevor made some recommendations and gave me tips on sizing and such. I brought my snowboarding socks to make sure I could find something that fit. While I was trying them on, another staffer noticed and mentioned that there were some older boots (from the past season) that fit me on sale. I tried those on and was sold. The shop wasn't too busy (just before lunch on a Sunday), but I don't think that'd make a difference. There are two stores separated by a tiny parking lot. The skate/surf/snow side has decent snowboard/clothing/gear stock. I didn't look around at the clothes this time around but there were racks of clothes at discounted rates. I'd say the pricing is pretty decent - but I'm a snowboarding noob :) So.... I saved money and I was provided with really awesome service. The staff is really knowledgeable. Since I'm new to the world of snowboarding still, I'm easily intimidated but I really liked going into ET Surf. I bought my Burton boots at 40% off and have all my gear this season! This is a great place. Very good selection, prices and nice staff. We bought my wetsuit elsewhere though. I would come back since its close to us. I was getting a wetsuit for a present and wanted a pink detailed suit instead of blue to match my board. They said if they could order it they would and would give us a call. They did call within 1-2 days but couldn't get what I wanted with an explanation that they weren't able to order it so we went elsewhere where they did get it for us. read more

I can't get enough of this place. This shop is so down to earth that I can hang out there all day if I wanted and just talk surf. The sales associates there must be interviewed to be the most chillest guys in the south bay. They have awesome gear and a good buddy of mine got his board shaped here and he couldn't ask for better. Not knowing much about surfboards, I brought my tween in with her new "USED" board in hopes for some guidance. The moment we walked in, Daniel was the first friendly and very helpful face walking in. After asking her a few questions, he gently suggested a few needed items she already had in mind. Daniel went on to teach her how to wax the board, what to look for and how to care for it. I watched their entire exchange with great joy while seeing her proud of her new board, and he was the perfect person to teach her about it. It was very clear he loves his job.I actually thought he was the owner as clients greeted him with great acknowledgement, and he knew the store as if it was his own. This shop has the goods. It's been around forever. They have a great selection for surf, skate and snow. The staff is super helpful if you need some advice or you are buying a gift. They also carry clothing (men's women's and kids), shoes, watches, sunglasses, gloves, socks and logo gear. The prices are reasonable without the huge mark up most stores have. They prefer cash, but also take debit/credit. There is a parking lot on the side and street parking. If you're in the South Bay stop in. read more

Finally, after a long time, I decided to get back on the board and try out a longboard. I walked in and instantly I was helped by the owner(?). He was an older gentleman and said he's been working here for as long as it's been open. He was super patient with me while I searched for the right board for me and he was even willing to get me riding ready with bearings and getting them looser. I freaking love this place! They have a great selection of boards (tons of both new and used), wetsuits, and surfing gear. The folks that work there have always been very helpful and really know what they're talking about. The knowledge of their staff, by the way, is bar none; which is really important when selecting boards and gear. You never want a lemon and they'll have no problem steering you away from something that's had issues. This is unlike most bog-box chains that would like nothing more than to dump bad inventory on each unsuspecting shopper. Once you pee in a wetsuit, you can't take it back! So, you want something that fits, is warm, and is going to hold up for the next couple of seasons. read more

As a recent transplant to the South Bay, I have heard from many of my friends about the local surf shop tucked away in Hermosa Beach that surfers, skaters and snowboarders swear by. The unassuming vibe you get when you walk into the store is one that any first timer wants to feel, welcomed and not shunned for being a newbie. The storefront is littered with gear, accessories, skateboards hanging from the ceilings, clothing racks but in a manageable, semi-organized fashion. It might not be tidy but you'll be able to find what you're looking for. As you make your way through the store you'll be surprised to find a an entire second level dedicated to surfboards, used, blanks, wetsuits, etc. There is also a whole back section for snow apparel, boots, bindings, etc. Basically, if you're in the South Bay and need to stock up on some gear or grab a new board, head to ET! read more

Eat surf is the best place you can go to, to purchase a skateboard/longboard/penny board. I just went there recently to find a longboard for me and the person there was right on track. They also gave me stickers for my longboard. They had great service and was really nice. If I wanted another skateboard or longboard, I would definitely go there to purchase one. read more

Getting a wetsuit is one of those things where customer service is essential, and this is the place. I am weirdly shaped and was not optimistic showing up. A really friendly, efficient young guy was quick to help and the first suit he picked out was perfect and I love it. I would have been totally lost without the help. E.T. is not only a Hermosa staple, it is a damn fine shop. Most of the reviews I have read are on the surf side of the shop, however the skate side is where my experience lies. I have been a skater for going on 30 years and seen hundreds of skate shops around the country. E.T. is one of the best. The selection is better than most (with the exception of trucks, need a bit of improvement in that department), but the staff is what sets E.T. apart. Even if you go in saying that you are just looking they will show you every deck on the wall and go through every set of wheels with you. If you are in the Hermosa Beach area and a skater, do yourself a favor and stop in. read more

Despite it being snow season, I was able to get an amazing deal in an arbor board. Similar boards were selling online for nearly 30 percent more than the Board I purchased at ET. They also offered a free mounting for bindings (REI costs around $35). Shout out to Chris who was super nice and helpful. I'm new to the sport and he was super patient and answered all my questions.
