I really enjoy the location at the Hawthorn Airport, and having found this location, I was interested in checking it out, so I met a friend for a cocktail. Much of the place is very familiar, same cocktails, same menu, same happy hour, expanded beer list, but there is something that is lost in the transition from the smaller venue with the picture window looking out onto the runway to just another corporate entity in Irvine. I guess this is just the old man in me griping about a place that gets successful, because it certainly was crowded. The bar was packed (though I did luck into a recently vacated table), as was the rest of the restaurant, easily 4 times the size of the spot in the South Bay. We had a couple of happy hour apps, the Brussels Sprouts and the Mac& Cheese balls (the two best items on the menu) and I had a cocktail while my friend had a beer. The service in the are was tag teamed, which is good in one respect (less wait time), but I forgot to remind the other server who brought the check about the happy hour discount we were supposed to get for ordering moments after the cut off. A few bucks does not make a huge difference, but the guy who originally served us didn't catch it until I had already paid the bill. I suppose this sits between 3 and 4 stars for me, and I will round up because it is the grumpy old man in me that knocks the place down, longing for the quieter location to which I am accustomed. read more

Eureka is an excellent place to hit up during happy hour because each day of the week is something special. The restaurant is located at the University Town Center just right next to Mendocino Farms. There is ample parking in the center but because UTC is technically considered "on campus" you'll find that it is very busy during the lunch and dinner hours. On the day of my visit, their special happy hour deal was this take-home glass if you ordered the Pizza Port beer. The beer was alright but I liked the idea of taking home my special glass so it was still a great deal for me. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating here and though it's usually pretty dead from 2-5pm, this is definitely a popular location in the evening. Their appetizers are delicious, to be quite honest I can't remember everything I tried since our table had shared a couple plates, but I would certainly return for another opportunity. Went here last night for dinner. The food to be honest is mediocre at best and they really honed down their menu. Even removed the best item (riblets) for some reason. But because we had a bigger group and everyone is short staffed, to be honest, they did their best. 4/5 for the effort and for Alek, our server who did everything he could for multiple tables. Came here for Hoppy Hour 9PM - closing on a Sunday and the place was very mellow. This review is just for their Hoppy Hour menu since we didn't really order from the main menu. This is located at the University Center right next to Mendocino Farms. I dig the vibes of this place, very young, hip, and fun. The Brussels sprouts & truffle cheese fries were my favorites. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly roasted and tossed in some kind of olive oil and seasoning. The truffle cheese fries servings are huge... but so good, we had to order a second plate. It came with this aioli like dipping sauce, mild but does the work. We tried their chicken nachos ($9) and it was plenty to share. The mac and cheese balls were good, it came in a bed of arugula and parmesan cheese with this ranch like dip. Everything you see behind the bar (except Tequila) are all made in America. They source their beers from local brewers and distillers. You can request to sample what they have on tap before deciding on what beer to order. Overall, this place is chill, appetizers were good, the price was decent because of Hoppy Hour. Hoppy Hour appetizers are for dine in only. Our server, Lauren, made sure we were well taken cared of. my brother always talks about eureka and we were trying to figure out what place to eat at for dinner, and i suggested we go to eureka! so we made our way to the irvine location close to UCI and got seated quickly & had such a nice and personable server! i didn't get his name but he was so nice and sweet! the food came out promptly and the presentation just made the food look so tasty already so i was excited to eat! my brother ordered the jalapeño egg burger, my sister ordered the chicken tenders, and i ordered the american burger. my siblings both really enjoyed their food, and so did i! the burger was very tasty and the fries were so good! the food lived up to the hype so i understand why now my brother enjoys this place so much! i'll be coming back! read more

We came back to check in the girl then proceeded to sit us next to a bunch of kids that were drinking and partying it up( there was plenty of other open tables) We sat for 15 minutes and nobody helped us so we left. We came here for a birthday dinner. 8pm on a week night we assumed it wouldn't be too busy, and we were correct. 5 minute wait to sit down while they got tables cleared off, no big deal. A server came to our table after a few minutes. In trying to get a drink, they first 3 items we wanted to order were out of stock including one of their signature cocktails and some of the bourbon from their whiskey list. But we eventually found something, placed our order for a drink and said we'd need a minute to order food. 15 minutes passed and only one drink arrived. The runner asked "did your server let you know we're out of the drink you ordered?" Nope. Another signature cocktail out of stock. Ordered another drink from the menu, still hadn't seen our server. We sat for another 20 minutes before the server returned to check on us, and mentioned we hadn't gotten the replacement drink. He disappeared the "check on it" and didn't come back for yet another 20 minutes. We sat for nearly an hour without even being offered a water, and never had the chance to put in a food order. Finally decided to get the check for the drinks and move on. By this point all the surrounding restaurants were closed, so birthday dinner was an overpriced cocktail neither of us actually wanted and a drive thru on the way home. Restaurant has a nice outside seating area. Service was excellent. My cobb salad was excellent. I was there for lunch when UCI was not in school. This area can be very congested and parking can be hard to find when school is in. I enjoyed the restaurant a lot. Came here for happy hour. Parked at 5:39 on a Saturday, our server was explaining how to order with our phones at 5:42. Happy hour menu is very limited, not at all what we were expecting based on Yelp photos, so I took a screenshot of the current offerings. We got all three food items and they were all good! The Wild Child is the only cocktail on the happy hour menu but it's so good, and a great deal at $7! Manager rushed over to the host and tells him to hold us off for 15 minutes as waiters were too busy. We asked the host if we could at least sit down while we wait we could just order drinks and not order food because he already told us there's no wait and one of the guest were elderly needs to sit. The host asked the manager and they refused to seat us. Never will be back. Been there a few times - poorly managed restaurant. This is a review for two different experiences at Eureka! 1) A fun night out! The server recommended great beers for me and my girlfriend, as well as a few appetizers. We managed to get there during happy hour - the value was good (not great). "Hoppy" hour is 2-6PM and 9pm to closing...EVERYDAY! Within steps from UCI, expect the crowd to be of that generation. Lots of them. We came for their late night HH and availed of their discounted appetizers, namely the Corn Dogs ($5) and Osso Bucco Riblets ($6) which you probably should skip because honestly, they're nothing special. The Bone Marrow Burger ($16.50-not part of HH) was excellent in taste but before you get overly excited, might I add that it's also oozing with so much grease? Now that I've been a good citizen and warned you about that bit, I'm sure it's the bone marrow causing all that awesomeness which is exactly why I don't mind. Their burgers come with fries so I opted for sweet potato fries for an extra $1.50, with most of them being soggy. Does this burger meal warrant the $18 price tag? Probably not. Thank God for their extensive list of craft beers. Beer lovers will definitely enjoy trying a variety of their offerings with $2 off during HH. Aside from the classic Sculpin IPA that I always find myself getting, the Mission Shipwrecked double IPA was another poison I thoroughly enjoyed that evening. Flights are not discounted but is always a good way to try different beers. Service was spotty and there seemed to be a delay consistency with our drink orders. Granted it was a busy Friday night and we were with a big group, I guess I should cut our server some slack. I'm just glad he allowed different tabs for our table. The last thing you want to deal with is calculating drinks and dishes at the end of the night when everyone's inebriated. read more

Fine for a bar. Great choice if you are going to watch a game as there are plenty of TVs and a large bar area. There was just a little wait for a table on Memorial day weekend and had a table with a good view of the TVs. The menu was okay. Not many healthy choices. I was between the Mahi mahi tacos for $10.50 or the salmon which was $18. I figured the salmon wouldn't fill me up and neither would the tacos but I'd rather only spend 10 and a little extra for a starter if I was still hungry. The tacos were a little larger than those tiny street tacos but definitely not large. I substituted a side of veggies instead of the rice the tacos came with so I was moderately filled. We also started with shishito peppers so that satisfied more of my hunger. Caution about the peppers...some can be extremely spicy!! We each had a super spicy one and it burned until our main meals came. Don't think I will be ordering those again. We stayed until the end of the basketball game so we ordered the apple crisp dessert to share. It was a little on the smaller side, I'd recommend not sharing it between more than 2 people. It's easy to finish on your own. But it was still tasty and probably better the 3 of us shared it anyway. We were pretty stuffed afterall. read more

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon with a friend at 11AM First impression when I got inside was that it looked very..pale and kinda dark, but looking outside you can kinda see that Eureka has the gray background. We were then taken to a table and given menus quickly. I saw something that caught my eye. Bone Marrow Burger Wha. Wha. Does that... omg that would sound so good. BUT SHOULD I No :( Since it was my first time there, and that burger was $16, I didn't think it was worth my while to actually try and get something like that. I went for the next best thing, the Cowboy burger, which was "only" $12. I thought it'd be a big burger b/c at that price, it would match Red Robin's. Or maybe Umami. I was kinda disappointed when I saw how small the burger actually looked :( I did however enjoy the burger (not enough BBQ sauce though), but I was still kinda surprised that it was $12 for something of that size. I don't know, felt like there'd be something....more. The fries in itself were good, and ketchup was also on the side for that. The burger is "good" but not "great", at the price that you're paying for it, you're expecting a little bit something better than what they give you. Service was nice, as they continually came back and asked how we were doing, and they also enjoyed the Pug Christmas sweater that I was wearing hehehe. :D It's a more "modern-y" experience and a very nice welcome to UTC, but paying for something more...higher class here. I'm a huge Eureka fan and have always ventured out to Redlands and Claremont just to get my burger cravings, but when I heard that this place opened right in my backyard, I was super excited to try this place. We came here on a Friday night and there was about a 45 minute wait. Their waiting system is pretty efficient because they get your cell number so when your table is ready, you will get a text. By the time we were seated, we were super hungry! So what did we order? 1. Mac n Cheese Alfredo ($6): I was disappointed by how small this appetizer was. It was creamy and decadent for any mac n cheese lover. However, I was just disappointed with the portion size. You're definitely overpaying for it. (4/5) 2. Fresno Fig Burger ($12): They changed the name of this burger. It used to be called Fig Marmalade Burger. It comes with melted goat cheese, fig marmalade, bacon, arugula, red onion, tomatoes, and spicy porter mustard. Overall, it's my favorite burger at Eureka. One thing that I was disappointed about this place is that they have substantially cut down on the fries that they give you compared to the other locations. (5/5) 3. Bone Marrow Burger ($16.50): When you're seated, immediately ask for it. They only have a limited number daily, and we were lucky enough to get the last one for the night! The burger comes with mustard aioli, oven-roasted tomato, onion, and bone marrow porcini butter. Delicious! Definitely worth a try! (5/5) Overall, service was great. I recommend coming here for happy hour because their appetizers are cheaper. One thing that I noted is that their portion of fries are different than the other Eureka locations I've been to. But that won't stop me from coming because I care more about the burger itself. However, it's just something good for Eureka fans to know. read more

Given that I was just in a wedding this past weekend where I had to starve myself to fit into the bridesmaid dress, I was pretty excited to be able to eat a burger again. And drink beer! Hello, calories, I miss you: do you miss me? This is a prime location for students, though I didn't see many when I went. They have lots of communal style seating, which is good for large groups and friends, though it definitely won't be good for anything intimate. I like that they have lots of outdoor seating though: California weather is perfect for this. The truffle fries were excellent, and so is the bone marrow burger. You can upgrade your side fries with onion rings, which I don't think is worth it because you only get three (although they are giant), but they weren't that good. They lacked flavor and was a bit overcooked. I wish they had an option to upgrade the side fries with truffle fries, because I would do that in a heartbeat! Kudos for having a nice craft beer menu with some Belgians and offerings from local breweries. They have a decent selection to choose from, which is pretty awesome. They also have a nice selection of wine to choose from. Which means, they have something for everyone. Well unless...you hate beer and wine. Then sorry, you're out of luck. In all, a great place to hang with some buddies for a casual lunch or drinks. Look out for the daily specials. On Tuesdays, they have 1/2 off wine by the glass. Pour it up! Just one con...slow service! VERY slow! I get that food may take awhile, but it takes forever to get your drink too. I mean, how long does it take to pour a beer? Since my first visit, I've been back 5 or so times (both for meals and happy hours), and they definitely deserve an upgraded review. Admittedly, I have never tried their burgers again, but I have been consistently pleased by their Watermelon/Arugula salad. Flavors are fantastic and portion isn't too small for the price. Definitely recommend if you're not craving a burger. I also recommend checking out their happy hour. They have a decent selection of food items, such as Truffle fries, fried chicken sliders (a bit dry when I tried it), steamers (clams), and more. One thing I've consistently noticed is the quality of their service. The waitstaff are very personable, polite, and patient. New verdict: still not rave-worthy, but it has transitioned into a somewhat regular part of my food outings.
