It had a little scuffle one night as it slept on a city street in Chicago. Some idiot decided to pick a fight with my sweet hybrid and bang it up a bit. I want nothing but the best care for my Hyb, so upon recommendation from a friend, I strolled it into Europa. It was the holiday season, so I was expecting a long wait to see it back. But in about 2-3 weeks, I had my Hyb! Hybie looked brand new, the paint and body work were flawless. I can't be more thankful for the service. I'd like to give a review about the quality of work, but I couldn't even get a quote from them. I personally went to the shop to request a quote and was told I'd get it later that day. When I didn't receive the promised quote, I called late the next day and was told that I would get it the following day or day after. My BMW windshield wiper stopped working in the middle of an ice storm driving back from Michigan after it got a little janky from being knocked out of place at the car wash. Was convinced and told by several colleagues it was a motor issue and would be $3000+ to fix it. Took it to Europa and they fit me in within minutes. , they took one look at it, adjusted the nut with a wrench on the wiper and sent me on my way. Completely fixed. Alleviated all the fear I had. Took my BMW, which was leaking oil, to these people at the recommendation of a friend who owns a number of older Porsches. Spent $2800 to do the seals on the pan, oil filter, and valve cover, a good price. Two years later oil is pouring out on the garage floor. On taking it back to them, I was quoted 1800 some odd dollars to redo the pan and oil filter (10% discount! - out of warranty!). BMW dealer did it for about the same money and gave me a loaner. The dealer found the following:' 1) The pan was not leaking, the oil was coming down from valve cover. 2) The valve cover gasket had not been replaced (a date code is molded in ) but had been just gooed up with sealant. 3) The pan is fastened with aluminum stretch bolts, one of which was missing and one was broken. On top of this, during my negotiations, I was continually addressed by the service coordinator as "young man" (I am in my 70's), sometimes twice in one sentence, as well as being winked at. He also not only misdiagnosed the oil problem, but came up with problems with rear seal and the transmission! Just my two cents. read more

They don't rip you off. I brought my car in to fix the paint the fender and bumper. Quote was reasonable and I compared it with another shop. When i went to pick up my car, the cost was lower because they were able to buffer my fender without painting it. They were honest and didn't charge me for additional work. Perfectly located in downtown Winnetka/Hubbard Woods. It is a 2 min walk from the Hubbard Woods Metra so if you need your car fixed but still need to get to work and you work downtown-it's very convenient. The reason to take your car there-they know what they are doing and they will never lead you astray. They do their best always. They are friendly and get the job done in a timely fashion-but they don't rush to make sure the job is always done correctly and efficiently. I highly recommend it. A shining example of a family-run business with personality that truly takes pride in their work. All the previous reviews have been spot-on. After several weeks trying to get an annoying brake noise issue fixed created by another auto shop, I found Europa nearby and decided to take it in for a second opinion. These guys know german cars and tell it like it is. Very honest - Jr. (owner's son) showed me firsthand what they thought the problem was and told me exactly what they were going to do and what it could possibly cost but didn't overpromise. The next day when they were working on it, they called me and even emailed me a photo of the brakes installed by the other shop compared alongside the OEM brakes they were going to install. I've used Europa twice now for my BMW and both times I've been disappointed in the service. The first time was to replace a front turn signal light. The light wobbles in there. It's not really quality craftsmanship, but it was significantly less money than the dealership. They didn't call to tell me the car was finished, I had to call them. I really hate that. This latest time I took it in, it had a shimmy in the steering wheel. They replaced the control arms (which was fine) but that didn't correct the problem. When I suggested they try to do an alignment the guy on the phone became irritated saying he had a list of things (like change the cabin air filter) that also needed to be done with the car and until those were done, there was no way of knowing what was wrong... so no, alignment wasn't the problem. Truth is, had they been more reasonable and patient on the phone and just said "Why don't you try replacing the tires?" I'd probably have done that (replacing the tires, consequently, fixed the problem), even though it would have cost almost $170 more than Discount Tire. But, no clear explanation. Just a condescending jerk yelling at me that I shouldn't blame him for my car being broken. Whatever. I'm done with them. read more

They help you when you need the help. They don't quit until they get to the bottom of things. I took out the right side-view mirror of my car... Mike Sr. popped it back on and just smiled at me. I have been going to Europa Imports for years. They are a full service shop for any make and model car. Any time that I have issues with my car, I know that I can trust them to do the work as good as at the dealer and at a fraction of the cost. I just recently needed an oil pan replaced and the dealer was quoting me 650.00. The only reason that the car was at the dealer was because it was closer to my house. It's a family business with Mike Sr and Mike Jr always working. They handle primarily imports and love German cars in particular. I would not take my Porsche or BMW anywhere else for body work. These guys are amazing! We brought my husbands '13 135i in for some front end damage caused by a truck tire on I-94. They had the car for 2 weeks but when it came back, it was perfect. The paint color was a perfect match. There were no surface imperfections (orange peel, fisheyes, particles, overspray) nothing. The car was buffed out and looked fantastic. I am very happy with the level of thoroughness when the repair was completed. I will be heading down there today because my X5 was just in a minor fender-bender yesterday. This is my experience with Europa Import after ordering tires from TireRack.com. I called them last week to make sure they received my tires and to setup an appointment to come in and get them installed. I showed up this morning and they made me wait 10 minutes outside because everyone was so busy. Then, when someone finally did "assist" me, I let him know I was there to get my tires installed. You can tell he was reluctant and gave me an excuse that he "had to work on another car that was going to take all day". I don't doubt he had another car to work on but he treated it as if that was my business and that I should have sympathized with him. (I guess tire installations aren't big enough business for them now that they are so successful due to their glowing online reviews). I explained to him I made an appointment last week but he said whoever I talked to over the phone shouldn't have made an appointment for 10:30am because they only took appointments for early mornings (8am appointments only he claims). At that point, I'm a bit peeved and out of options and I ask him what I was supposed to do and whether he would honor the appointment. He gets angry and slams my keys on the table and tells me that I should haul my tires out of there and install them myself! For that, they get this "glowing" review. I hope it was worth it. The insurance adjustor told me that if it was his car, he would bring it to Europa Imports to be fixed (even though Europa is not affiliated with his company). After looking at the reviews online, I brought them my broken Subaru Forester. Both Mike Jr. and Mike Sr. were a pleasure to work with and were more than reasonable with the price they gave me to fix additional issues with the car. I dropped my car in the morning with a check engine light problem and they called 1pm in the afternoon, and it was fixed and ready by the late afternoon. The price is better than dealerships, at the same time, you can tell these guys are pros with European cars (it is Winnetka after all). These are good guys. My first visit was about 18 years ago when I needed some body work. Fast forward to 2012, I no longer live in the area but it's worth the drive because, as I said, these are good guys.
