I was told by Justin I would be getting a call from the manager to get some card details regarding a comped Uber as my vehicle was repaired for a thermostat. Upon arrival, my car was still not blowing any hot air. They kept the car an additional day and a lady at the cashiers desk told me herself that she could not order me an Uber, and they could comp me. Never once did I request this on my own and thought it was nice. I had ran my car for 25 minutes (in their parking lot!) upon arrival and the thermostat was still not working to heat my car up. I noticed right after my paper work also only reflected 5 miles added to the car when it was actually well over 50. Not my first time getting a repair on one of my vehicles, and this particular issue did not require 50+ miles to be added. They disguised this additional mileage as "standard" and said they fixed it on their end, but I am yet to receive a copy of that as well. The repair done does not require the car to be driven much after repair as this was not a brake or suspension related issue. I understand running the car for my particular issue, but this whole situation was very odd as I own other vehicles and this issue has never happened to me in regard to mileage. Why make a promise to a customer and then ignore them after, too? Really odd business practices. I did go ahead and file a report to the FTC because although nothing can be done to remediate the mileage, this particular dealership needs to be investigated for incorrect paperwork reflection and shady practices. Push a lot of simple maintenance on you, too. No greeters and no one approached me once when I picked up the vehicle, as well. Took a while for me to realize the cashier was not talking to a customer, but a coworker. I'd recommend visiting another MINI in the Chicagoland area. read more

These guys are always pushing the limits on so-called necessary repairs. Four years ago they said my exhaust system needed replacing, which was weird because it wasn't noisy at all. I declined then and they never brought it up again since -- was it all a scam? Now they claim I caused a chip in the windshield of a loaner car, which I never saw, and tacked another $100 onto my $2800 repair bill. I've now spent upwards of $15,000 with them over the years. This his how they treat their loyal customers? They don't even wash your car after servicing it. Skimming for dollars seems to be their business model. read more

Warning. Do not go inside this building. They have two untrained parrots in the show room. I was there this morning getting my car washed. While I was making a cup of coffee, one of the birds attacked me... flew across the room, landed on my head and shoulders, and dug its claws in. I had my back to the bird and never saw it coming until it was on me. An employee came and removed the bird. I continued and the bird attacked me a second time not 30 sec later. I yelled and they ran over again to remove the bird.I have a torn shirt and scratches on my shoulders as a result. Unsure if bird scratches are dangerous or carry disease. I'm surprised they are allowed to have wild birds indoors. Stay away or at least do not go inside. read more

The waiting area for service is the best mini service waiting area I have seen. During non Covid times there was a complimentary omelette station. There are complimentary snacks and coffee/tea/ice cream. They also have a separate room with a children's size table. There are also electrical plugins and space to work from a laptop. Not necessary but recommended and the friendly sales associated welcomed me with exactly the car I described on the phone. The entire transaction was smooth, friendly and very professional. After going to 3 VW dealers looking at a Golf, 2 Honda Dealers looking at a Fit, I was exhausted and decided to put out ONE more call into Glencoe Mini (they had GREAT Google reviews!) I live in the city, so getting up to Glencoe wasn't easy without a car, so I called and was put through to Michael McGuire, fast. I gave him all of the details, communicated mostly through efficient texts and got the starting numbers I needed to keep moving to a baseline. I drove up to the dealer after getting a couple quotes from competitors and met Michael. We definitely vibed quickly, and he was certain he could meet me in my budget and get me into a Mini I loved. I had a smaller budget, and they only had a few cars that fit.. they didn't end up being the right one for me. After my test drive, I pulled back into the lot and I saw one out of the corner of my eye that I WISH I had, but knew I couldn't afford. Kevin, the service manager, was so professional and kind! I love having the "video"- voiced by the actual service provider- showing and explaining exactly what needs to be done on the car etc. I initially came in for a typical "service check" and after finding several things that I chose to have fixed immediately, my appointment was a changed from 1.5 hours visit to approximately 4-5 hours. Of course I could do this myself, but I like to buy the specific oil and have a professional deal with it. The free coffee and muffins and nice waiting area are an added perk. I wouldn't normally review a dealership, but Fields has met my expectations since they took over Mini in the North Shore. I had gone to Knauz many times and they took care of me so well that I was actually devastated when I heard of the change two weeks before it happened. WARNING: Took my car in to get an oil change and fix a couple other engine problems. Got the car back after a few days because a part needed to be ordered in. When I picked up the car there was a scratch on the side of the car and a MASSIVE crack across the top of the windshield, left to right. I immediately brought it to their attention and this was the response I received: "Well it probably happened in the car wash and you're going to have to pay an extra $471 to fix it." Are you kidding me?!?!? Furthermore, I never even received a courtesy call from them telling me what to expect or even an apology. They didn't have the common sense or courage to do so. I expected so much more from a Mini Dealership when working on my Mini. Take your car elsewhere! Since they are set up in Glencoe, they couldn't care less because they think everyone there is rich as can be and so will charge you left and right and not give a damn if damage was caused by them. I did not have a good experience with the service department. Communication was lacking and they kept my car for four days. At first, they were very good about telling me what was wrong with my car and how much it would cost, but actually fixing it was a whole different story. I called, they would promise it the next day. After another 36 hours I called again. Still not ready. Finally, we said we'd just pick it up done or not. Then, "magically" it was finished! When I did pick it up and paid my $4,000 bill, the check out person was very rude. She gave me my receipt and turned her back to me. I had to ask, "Where is my car?" She answered, "Through that door behind you." Mind you, that door was small and was across the showroom. How was I to know where to go? I will never go to this dealership again. I will never buy a MINI again which says a lot because we owned four MINIs at one time!! Clearly we WERE big fans! read more

Ok you all, so you know I like to give you the low low on the real deal. So, I was assisting a friend in finding her retirement toy, a Mazda Miata. If you know me at all you know I like shopping cars, negotiating and making a good deal. So we've been at this thing for awhile now starting online and local. We expanded our search and ended our search at Fields Mini of Glencoe North Shore. I spoke to Michael while my friend was test driving at another location. He confirmed the vehicle advertised on Car Gurus was available and he stated he would be present at the time of our arrival. We arrived and he was immediately there to greet us. He quickly, took our ID and information and invited us to drive. At every step he gave us room to look, talk and review. We sat and talked business, personal, socially and patiently. This was really a no pressure purchase. Michael is sociable and professional and his supervisor Alex Skouras is equally as professional as the staffer he works aside. Their team approach was clear and there were no obvious indicators of power and authority, in fact, throughout, the shift of power was always with us, the shopper/buyer. We drove over an hour to get to this location to prospect this vehicle. We stayed over night to complete the transaction, and we did so because of our own oversight. Who leaves without a check book??? But the Mini staff was super patient with us. We got a room at a local hotel and stopped at a local bank in the morning to get certified funds. When we arrived in the morning we finished our deal out working with Molly Barasa who too was professional, knowledgeable and gracious. a week ago I just purchased my Mini S 2 door hardtop from Mini of Glencoe North Shore. This is my second time owning a Mini Cooper. My first purchase in Madison got me hooked on Mini's. This time I had dwindled it down to two different Mini's at two different dealerships..and..the Reason I purchased from Mini of Glenco instead of the other Mini at the other dealership..wasn't due to pricing..It was Absolutely based on the salesperson. The other dealership did Not provide the "Mini" customer service that I had been accustomed to. Ric Tryce at Mini of Glencoe did!! He was amazing..made me feel welcomed back to being a Mini customer..and provided extremely fair pricing!! We communicated by phone and email due to coronavirus circumstances..when I arrived today to pay and sign for my Mini it was Flawless..all the paperwork ready do to their awesome financial advisory as he was off today and prepared everything in advance yesterday for me. Not a great experience. I was trying to lease my second Mini, and I'm not saying that they were trying to pull one over on me, but they did gave me three different lease payments for the same car, same specs, in 3 days. When I asked them to explain why these monthly payments are all different, I really didn't get a straight answer. Something like, "It's real complicated how the taxes are in Illinois." They are totally calculating the taxes wrong and I showed them on the Edmunds lease calculator website. I showed them another example on another website and any web search you do will show that a $34K pre-tax car should not have $3880 in taxes. You are only paying sales tax on the leased portion of the car. Then you pay a monthly lease tax. The taxes should have been $1550 and about $45/month in lease tax. Again, I asked them to explain. No real answer. The math doesn't lie. I would be very careful and check the math before leasing or buying. I was disappointed and eventually, when I called them on it, they just ignored me. read more

I'm on my 4th Mini. Needless to say I love the car and have a lot of experience getting it serviced. I was going to Mini Chicago until it closed. Now I get my car serviced here at the Glencoe dealership. I can't say enough about Jimmy and Justin. To say that they go above and beyond for me is an understatement. I work 12-14 hours a day. Trying to schedule my car to get serviced or picked up for service isn't an easy task. However, Jimmy and Justin do everything they can to accommodate me. They treat me with the utmost respect. I acknowledge that getting your car serviced at a dealer is much more expensive than going somewhere else. But the fact that I choose to come back here says it all. I'm always contacted and informed of what repairs need to be done right away or what can wait until later. I'm given options. All my questions are answered. I've waited there while my car was being taken care of. I see how busy the people in the service dept are every day. The flow of customers and phone calls are endless. I know that if my call isn't returned right away it's because they're busy. But despite that, they always get back to me within 24 hours. All of that is what exceptional customer service is. My job is stressful and everyday life is more stressful these days. Justin and Jimmy take the time and make the effort to make things easier and I truly appreciate that! read more

Took my car here for an oil change and received a call back that the latch to the hood broke while they were opening it and it would take $700 in new parts and labor to repair. I asked why they thought the fact that they broke the car was my responsibility, but they didn't see it the same way (part was worn, etc.) Had a mechanic buddy of mine then take a look at the hood and he was able to fix it without any new parts. Definitely won't be bringing my car back to this dealership for repair. read more

Previous experience with them was great. They recently converted to a MINI dealership but they still advertised saying that they serviced INFINITI cars. I made an appointment online and came in only to find out that you had to call to make an appointment and that they didn't have any INFINITI tecs available. Wasted my morning and time off of work just to come here. Seems like common sense to leave a message on your website to call to make an appointment for INFINITI cars rather than allowing people to book appointments. read more

Most, if not all of us dread the idea of having to deal with pushy salespeople. However, my salesperson at Mini of Glencoe, Michael McGuire, was an exception and exceptional. Michael was courteous, kind and nothing less than a first rate professional. Even before I met him in person we spoke on the phone and he couldn't have been easier to talk to. When I got to the dealership the next day and met Michael in person we took a test drive where he took the time to inform me about all the cool features in my Mini. Michael knows Mini's inside and out like no one else. When we returned to the dealership we walked around the car to inspect it for damage, scratches, etc and the car was immaculate with the exception of scratches on the plastic wheel well trim which Michael immediately offered to see if he could have repaired. He had the piece replaced with a new piece of trim. The entire experience from my initial conversation to test drive to delivery was a truly pleasant experience. So, if you are in the market for a Mini Cooper (they are great cars) then I suggest you head straight to Mini of Glencoe and ask for Michael McGuire. read more

And the "Service" Manager's vain attempts at justifying excessive charges for simple tasks that should instead be a free dealer courtesy, was presented as unapologetic hubris which borders on a lack of integrity. (example: charging me $150 to tell me my key fob does not work because the receiver in the mirror is not picking up the transmission from the fob, ...and then telling me it will cost $800 to fix/replace it).
