this is the closest I have had to my mother's cooking in 5 years. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, and a small but comforting place to eat a truly home cooked meal.

I was excited to try this restaurant today. I walked in and was quickly seated. The restaurant was small and cozy. I decided on the chicken schnitzel based on the reviews from other patrons. A warmed roll and butter were brought out, and my meal came out in a reasonable amount of time. There were two schnitzels on the plate, accompanied by super creamy mashed potatoes and garlic zucchini. Everything was piping hot. The chicken was perfect, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The vegetables were super yummy as well. When I was done eating and waiting for my check, I was given a little dessert, which was delicious (not exactly sure what it was, but I'm not one to turn down dessert!). This was easily the best schnitzel I've ever had. The portions are huge and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back.

In my recent visit to European Taste, I had the tyropita, Transylvanian sausage (mici), and a taste of two desserts, and I loved every bite of it all (especially the desserts). Plus, I felt like I got a good portion for what I paid. There isn't a lot of seating, maybe eight-ish tables inside, but the woven placemats, art, and hospitality (the workers were incredibly friendly) makes this a cozy spot to enjoy a meal. I would definitely recommend this place!

I love this mom and pop place. Friendly playful couple run the place. For those not familiar with Romanian cuisine I would stick to the German schnitzel or Italian Parmesans. My mom had the smoked meat platter and found it too non-traditional with the cured meat abs fresh sausage. I tried it and loved it but I've lived in Eastern Europe. Everything that could be was prepared fresh and was exquisite.

The Hungarian Goulash was not beef stew, but meatballs.

I was looking forward to the Hungarian Goulash but was disappointed as it was not beef stew, rather they served it with tasteless meatballs.

Chicken Paprikas (medium spice level) - so delicious!

This restaurant is soo delicious! I had the chicken paprikas which was just as flavorful and amazing as the same dish from my favorite restaurant in Budapest, Hungary! They really know what they are doing and I highly recommend you give this dish a try if you've never had it before. Also my husband got the chicken schnitzel which was also cooked perfectly. The food is comforting and the portions are filling. The cremesh cake for dessert was also so fresh, flakey and delicious! It is clear this place is family owned and operated and I can't wait to go back.

Tried this place while in town for vacation. Small spot in a strip next to an Irish pub and a few other restaurants. We came mid-afternoon, so nearly nobody was there. Started off with the spanakopita - very tasty, but very hot! My wife ordered the chicken paprikas and I ordered the Goulash. Both were excellent.

Ask the Community - European Taste Restaurant

Did they recently change their hours? I thought they used to be open for lunch?

    Can you do take out?

We dined in the restaurant but got our desert to go. I'm pretty sure they'll do takeout.

The restaurant is a open area, well lit, cozy, clean and styled simply. The restaurant has a simple Happy Hour menu for during the weekdays starting at 4:30pm. Inside seating are a few booths, stand alone & bar top tables, bar seating and a small shaded outdoor patio seating area. If you have a large party with more than 6 people calling ahead would be wise. The hostess was friendly and the manager was more than helpful. The food server was pleasant and understood my dietary restrictions and very helpful to ask the chef if it would be possible to accommodate a few menu options for me which they kindly agreed. We had an appetizer order of fried calamari which was very tender, lightly flour coated crispy rings and tentacles served with a delicious red sauce. Our entree order of 3 shrimp tacos was very tasty, tender and filling as was my special made order of mixed vegetables from the chef. We look forward to returning to try additional items off their menu as well as desserts which were reasonably priced and portions were very nice.

The food was great and I had a great experience. This is definitely a versatile place since you could come to hang out with the boys watching sports together, grab a quick bite to go, or have a nice dinner. The Bosnian coffee was a great way to start while waiting for the food. I ordered the lamb chops and sarma. Both of my friends enjoyed philly cheesesteak sandwiches. All of the dishes were flavorfully seasoned and cooked well. For dessert I had the tufahija apple dessert since it was the only gluten free dessert option. For how simple that dessert was it was surprisingly good. It was cooked apple stuffed with walnuts and garnished with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and the syrup that it was cooked in as well. The apple still had a bit of crisp texture which I enjoyed. Throughout our meal the staff checked on us to make sure everything was going well. I'll 100% come here again since I'd like my friends to try some of the grilled meats next time.

I tried one of the specials that I now see pictured in every restaurant review - butterflied trout. I admit it was phenomenal and I'm shocked how anyone can get a trout to take up so much space on a plate! My only regret is that I did not ask for the price before ordering. I'm glad I didn't inquire, otherwise I would not have ordered it. It was fantastic.- I think $70 for a trout entree is a reach. Even though it was a special, at that price point I think the servers should tell you the price regardless of whether you asked. I truly appreciate great food; both cooking it and it and eating it. We are fortunate to have so many great restaurants in Richmond. Adarra is not in my price range for very frequent visits in spite of them doing everything exceptionally well. I will go back, but I can't justify it being part of my regular rotation.

I came here for my 30th birthday and had the best time! I was looking for a spot open on Monday…read moreevenings and Adarra had an opening. I booked a table for four. The green building is unmarked so it took us a second to feel confident about going inside. It's located in Oregon Hill so there is some street parking around. We live nearby so walked to it. I had the best culinary experience with my favorite people. It's a very dark and moody restaurant, great for intimate or romantic moments. They recommend you do family style. We ordered five dishes for our four person group. Someone in our party was gluten free and it was not hard to accommodate that. I believe they cook almost all the meals on a open fire. The menu changes with the seasons and I wish I took a picture to share the proper names of what we had, but here is what we tried: Cocktails: We each got one and they are very creative cocktails. I love how experimental they get with them. I tried a clarified strawberry mojito which wasn't too sweet and easy to drink. A friend of mine got a mojito old fashioned that was strong and had nice bitters. I'm blanking on my fiancé's drink, but it was my favorite for its sweetness and carbonation. My best friend got a unique martini-like drink with onion and salt she loved. Asparagus Salad: This was refreshing and perfect for the spring day we had. I loved the cream and strawberry components. Scallops: These were so tasty. I loved the bed of salt they were on, it really brought out the flavors. Octopus: This was my favorite dish of the evening. The flavors were GREAT. I started with the potatoes and spinach part and was already in love with the dish. I was so happy that they cooked the octopus to perfection. Drum: This was at the bottom of the list of what we had for me, but still really yummy. The silky fish was a bit plain without it's very tasty crunchy skin, but if you combined the two it was good. Trout: We devoured this. This was the star of the show for my fiancé. It was huge and great for four people (considering we ate a bunch of other plates before). The oil it came is was so yummy. It was a good fish y'all, good fish is good fish. Basque cheesecake with olive oil drizzle: My birthday cake choice for the evening. The olive oil was a little overpowering for me, but the cheesecake was still yummy. We loved our experience here. It seems like a lot of recent reviews have some issues with the timing, but it worked lovely for our group. We got there at 5:30pm and left around 7:30pm. We wanted a more relaxed experience and loved our conversation so it did not feel this long. But it is worth being mindful about timing. We did take a while to order drinks. Overall, it was a tasty and lovely time here. It's a pricier restaurant, but totally worth it. This has been on my want to try list for a long time and I am beyond happy I finally tried it.
