Chicken pad Thai, only $13!
Cam A.

My favorite Pad Thai in Toronto, hands down. Came here for lunch and for only $13 got a massive plate of Chicken Pad Thai. It was SO YUMMY and just what I was craving. As a student, I'm always looking for cost-efficient places with big portions - I think Evergreen Thai is one of the best kept secrets on Dundas St.

Not really sure what to make of this place. Out of all the places on the street we chose this one. And we chose wrong. The washrooms were out of order for the first 10 minutes we got there; sounded like a homeless guy was loitering down there, not really sure. Then service was slow, and food really just unenjoyable. Didn't feel the cleanest of places either. Unfortunately won't be back

This is my favorite cheap Thai restaurant. It's not authentic but it's quite good! They have raised the prices over the past year probably to accommodate the increase to minimum wage. The food is made to order and quite tasty. Most of their dishes are under $12. A good bargain if you need a quick bite to eat.

Cheap, inauthentic Thai food with annoying background noises... Came here on a sunday evening, and the place was empty, most likely due to it being Canada day long weekend. We ordered the Beef Pad Sew and Shrimp Basil Fried Rice. For the pad sew, the noodles were not the authentic wide flat noodles nor were they fresh because they clumped up together. The flavors were boring and the beef was dry. Meanwhile, the fried rice was burned and overseasoned with soy sauce, pepper, and too much oil. The only saving grace was the shrimp. There was also very loud and annoying rumbling noises that came from the AC and refrigerator every few minutes that just ruined the ambiance of the place. I couldn't wait to just leave after my meal. Next, I couldn't comment much on the service since there was hardly any customers that night. Nothing but ordinary. Overall, quite a disappointing experience. I wouldn't go back here unless to order cheap take out.

This place looks a bit shabby compared to the other more popular restaurants along Dundas but I'd consider coming back here for a quick bite. Early 5PM dinner, place was basically empty. It's a rather big space with large tables. Food came out fast and hot. Chicken pad thai was nicely plated and quite a large portion. I liked the peanuts on top, there was a good amount of chicken and what I appreciated most was that I could smell the tamarind. Tastewise, I liked it, it didn't taste like ketchup sauce you get at other Thai restaurants which is far from authethic. Getting a noodle/rice dish will set you back around 12-13 dollars after tax and tip.

Stopped by for lunch during a business trip and was not disappointed. This was a great little place for a cheap lunch special that was also tasty and filling. I was a little sad that they couldn't make a vegetarian version of Massaman curry but not many people can. I had the golden tofu lunch special which also came with spring rolls, soup and salad. Yes, it comes with 3 appetizers! There was so much food, neither me nor my colleague could finish our meals. The thai iced tea was also good. As was the service, very friendly and timely.

It just okay. The prices were great. Great fast serves. We had beef and chicken dishes not a lot meat on the plate. Also had a thai soup also okay. I would not go back.

Pad sew

Extremely amateur food... Pad sew noodle was undercooked and rubbery... Not enough veggies and meat... Even after asking for spicy. . Everything in the dish just tasted boiled... One of the rare situations where I had to not eat the food and get out... Staff were not bothered to even enquire about the situation and bad attitude

I highly recommend their Seafood Fried Rice! Absolutely delicious and huge portions for 11.50. Service was quick.

Red curry was good. Service was fast. Not much in the way of decor or atmosphere but it's a good spot for a mid week lunch.

The restaurant has a lot of smaller tables, making it feel cozy, and the service was super friendly. I ordered the dry boat noodles with egg noodles and they were so good. The side of broth was absolutely amazing and honestly one of the best parts of the meal. Rich, flavorful, and so comforting. I kept alternating between bites of noodles and sips of broth. There was chili oil on the table, and I definitely got a little carried away. It was seriously spicy, but somehow I couldn't stop eating. My mouth was on fire, but every bite made me want another. Even after leaving, I kept thinking about those noodles. I also liked that there are several noodle options to choose from depending on what texture you're craving. Between the delicious food, great broth, and kind service, this is definitely a spot I'd come back to again.

I went during the summer, and there was no air conditioning so it was pretty hot inside. However, the food was amazing. For the beef noodles, the meat was tender. The soup is rich and authentic, with the perfect balance of spice; however the portion was a bit small. I also tried the fried dumplings, it's flavorful, but the skin was a bit thick. The Thai tea was average, a little bit too sweet for me. Overall, I still like this restaurant, and will definitely come back again.

Unfortunately, the day took an unexpected turn when I had to go to the hospital, and for a while I thought I wouldn't make it at all. As a testament to both the kindness of my friends and the exceptional staff at Lao Lao, they were able to accommodate us even though I arrived nearly two hours late on a busy Saturday evening. Originally, our table was only reserved until 8:00 p.m.--the exact time I finally arrived. Thankfully, with the help of our incredible server, Savanna N., everything worked out. Her professionalism, warmth, and willingness to help truly made the evening possible. More than anything, I hoped the wait would be worthwhile for my friends, who were visiting for the first time. I'm happy to say they absolutely loved it--especially the outstanding hospitality and customer service. A huge thank you to Savanna and the entire team for making us feel so welcome. As for the food, every dish was delicious. Nothing disappointed. The papaya salad was such a hit that we ordered it twice. The Beef Massaman Curry, Crispy Lao Spiced Chips, Banana Leaf Steamed Fish, and the seasonal Vermicelli Noodle in Chicken Coconut Red Curry were all exceptional. Service personnel, many with genuine Thai heritage, execute their roles with palpable passion for the menu's cultural context. The kitchen approaches classical Thai flavor constructions with respect, evident in the balance of fundamental taste components--the interplay of spice, acid, and umami articulation. Signature preparations achieve notable authenticity, with ingredients selected for both quality and cultural accuracy. The soft shell crab pad Thai exemplifies the kitchen's willingness to honor tradition while exploring thoughtful variation. The dining environment presents an aesthetically refined space, though observations regarding atmospheric density suggest opportunities for enhanced comfort optimization. The pricing structure reflects aspirational positioning within Toronto's Thai dining landscape--a consideration worth acknowledging when evaluating value proposition relative to alternative establishments. The establishment's restrictive approach to dietary accommodation--particularly regarding plant-based protein substitution in curry preparations--represents a notable limitation for certain guest profiles, warranting consideration in advance planning. Si Lom Thai Bistro offers a competent, earnest interpretation of Thai cuisine, executed by personnel who understand and respect the tradition. The experience appeals to those seeking sophisticated Thai dining executed with cultural literacy, though contextual factors merit thoughtful consideration.

The only issue I had which made me knock off a star is that the glass and silverware had an odd scent, like the smell your glasses have if there's food stuck in your dishwasher filter -- if you know that scent you know what I mean. Just smelled funky and honestly the smell was ruining the taste (smell and taste are so closely linked) so I drank out of my own water bottle I had brought and grabbed a plastic fork to eat with which did solve the issue but still...less than ideal
