Drove my mom 85 yr old mom and her friend up from Burnet for a birthday lunch. Upon entering the restaurant, they were busy. We were approached by a young lady, Emerson B, who let us know our wish would be 15-20 min long. My mother asked "where can we sit to wait?" Emerson B, replied with a big attitude "outside." Outside was never an issue, it was the attitude given. Our wait was longer than 15-20, it was exactly 37 min, yes, I timed it. Several people had exited the restaurant and still not table. I went inside to ask how much longer and saw the girls chatting at the counter. Emerson B. approached myself and another lady who asked how much longer and the reply was "we haven't had time to clean them" Fast forward to finally being seated. Another very swet young lady came over and took out drink order. A few minutes later, Emerson B. approaches and asks to take our drink order, I explained to her that our order was taken and she rudely replies "Well I am your waitress not her so what's your drink order?" "We help each other out here." our drinks finally came and my lemon that I asked for with my water had a hair on it. If we had not been there for a birthday lunch, I would have absolutely asked to speak to manager. Emerson B was extremely rude and unprofessional and has no business being in the customer service industry. This was probably the worst customer service experience I have had in a long time. Stopped in for a lunch at Eve's Cafe. Had some of the best Yelp reviews of restaurants in Lampasas. Seating: quickly seated Food: ordered the schnitzel with mushroom sauce with a salad. Some of the salad was wilted. Mushroom sauce tasted canned. It wasn't edible. The schnitzel was ok but not much more than average. The major disappointment was the mushroom sauce- upcharge for quality not for inedible canned sauce. Also, fries tasted like they were frozen in the past. Every time we are in Lampasas this is a MUST stop place! During COVID their menu is limited, but they still have the top sellers! With my dietary limitations, I always have to modify, and I'm used to that. But our waiter, Patrick, was really superior. When my food came out wrong, he quickly whisked it away, and saw to it that everything came out correctly prepared. Thanks for hiring this young man! I had the German sausage with Yummy grilled onions, and red cabbage. The red cabbage was very good; it had that little bit of sweetness that kept me anticipating the next bite. Well done! And, the tea was delicious, presented appetizingly with both an orange slice and a wedge of lime. My dining companions had schnitzel and the Reuben, and were pretty happy; my sister did remark that the sauerkraut on the Reuben was pretty tart. Then the desserts came -- Cherry Strudel!! Eve's a funny old socialist German... she smokes 100's on the patio and you may catch her drinking some wine. She's got a glowing personality and she's pretty hilarious. In the kitchen though, Eve's a genius. You can get sandwiches, they're known for the burger--I wanna say they do that on Thursdays. I've had them but I stick to the sandwiches... After 2 traumatic days of our little dog being separated from her humans, we needed a dog friendly place to wait for her owners. Eve's was the place! My husband and his buddy hadn't seen each other since they served together in Germany in the 80's. They finally caught up with each other this year so it was only fitting that we end up at Eve's. It's been 5 years since I've been here and it was amazing! AGAIN! They close at 5, we walked in at 4:30 and they were cleaning. We asked if we needed to go somewhere else and they said that they could serve us. Ended up just being us eating and the staff closing up. They were so kind and friendly. We have gone to Eve's Café in Lampasas, Texas about four times. Every time we go we order some form of schnitzel and spaetzle noodles. The food is consistently delicious, and large portions are served even at lunchtime. We don't live in the area but we like it so much that when we are in the area we make a point to stop by Eve's for lunch. As far as the decor, it is an interesting combination of puppets hanging from the ceiling, with signs on the wall and yellow paint. It is eye-catching, and last time we were there this week, we saw little children at another table pointing in wonder repeatedly at the various characters suspended above their heads. Because we are such fans of schnitzel, we have not really tried the other main course itemson the menu to comment on them. The sides that we have had with our schnitzel such as green beans or rolls are flavorful. If you're a fan of German food, and in the area of Lampasas, this is a great restaurant to visit. read more

Eve's is located on the old town square in Lampasas. The space is eclectically ornated with items of somewhat European flavor with furnishings in the spirit of the beer garten. The staff is outstanding in what they do and add very much to a pleasant experience. The young lady helping us today offered a suggestion when asked - and that suggestion was Käse Schnitzel which was fantastic. First, a salad was presented with a house dressing on the side. The salad was perfectly dry with no water on the veggies. The leafy greens are decedant and silky smooth apparently a variety consisting mostly of butter lettuce it seems. A few small tasty tomatoes incorporated that were sliced in order to avoid the spew pop of the cherry tomotoe for instance. Some finely sliced cucumber makes an appearance that I recall. The dressing seemingly dill and cucumber like, not to thick nor thin in order to coat evenly the heavenly greens. The schnitzel is perfeclty cooked with an even coating and coloring of the breading. The meat is moist and flavorful. The ham is thinly sliced and varying in depth layered upon the schnitzel resulting in a variety of sensations progressing from the thinner ham layers to the thicker, accompanying the delicious and satisfying schnitzel portion that is underlying. The swiss cheese atop plays right along in harmony with the meaty duo, perhaps somehow filling the textural gap and enhancing the spectrum of flavor as in a musical major chord. A delightful brown sauce is presented on the side. Rather light in flavor (not salty if you were inclined to presume so), the sauce/gravy adds another dimension to the dish, perhaps the magical 5th voice in a 4 part harmony. If you would be ashamed to refuse the red cabbage for such a traditional dish though you would have your rathers, do not fret at all and confidently opt for the absolutely most fantastic green beans you will ever encounter, that is until you come back and encounter them again. If you don't have room for desert, take some home with you. The pastry case is loaded with 10 types and flavors of cheesecake and 4 different cakes, at least. There seems also to be some tarts available on the counter. If you are late in the day you might find choices limited. The staff is prepared with boxes and paper to get your desert home safely, even if you are traveling an hour back into Austin proper. I have eaten at Eve's on numerous occasions over the past few years when I travel through town, and it only gets better and better. I wish I had more to say, because that would mean that i enjoyed more deliciousness from this place. Just git your ass to Eve's and order the Käse Schnitzel with noodles and green beans. read more

Who in their right mind... while on the way to Fredericksburg... stops at a small German Cafe in a small town. That's like stopping for a snack on the way to Chez Panise... But the real treat is the authentic, delicious German Food. Five different kinds of Schnitzel... I had Jaeger Schnitzel... a great breaded pork tenderloin with brown gravy and mushrooms. This place is in the downtown area. It is cute little restaurant that has lines of people waiting outside to dine. The staff are nice. The place was clean especially due to COVID. There is one shared bathroom and it was okay clean. The prices are good because lunch items includes side salad and two sides. BUT The side salad was not very fresh with wilted greens, mushy old tomatoes and the dressing is off. It is like a watered down attempt at homemade ranch dressing. I ate a few bites and pushed it aside. I ordered schnitzel with red cabbage and French fries. Spatzle was another side option and almost ordered it. The main items comes out and gorgeous plate of schnitzel. It looks really pretty, but the red cabbage side was overly sweet and instead of starting over, they added extra vinegar to compensate ?? But it was inedible. The gravy tasted like can brown gravy, it was too salty and not authentic German gravy for schnitzel. The schnitzel was delicious! Well cooked and crispy. The French fries were frozen and fried.. what is not to like? The lunch price when you only eat 1 item is not worth it. I do not understand the long lines to get into this place.
