I called Mark at Excelsior Roofing and the very next day they came to have a look. I was primed for the same verdict. But no, still some life in it... Excellent company, their quote was lower than another accomplished Roofing company, even though Excelsior was doing additional work on my roof. Mark answered all my numerous questions and emails promptly. Received an estimate the day after reviewing my problematic roof and they did the work within a week. (Never received an estimate from the other company even though it has been almost a week.). They were honest and went over the problem areas that needed to be repaired (the other company tried to get me to put on a new roof). They arrived on time and worked thoroughly and professionally. Excelsior did a remove/replace of our existing roof and gutters/downspouts, as well as a repair/seal of our exposed balcony. The process and workmanship was very professional. We were not on-site during the work, but Excelsior provided daily updates by phone and sending pictures of the work. Our neighbors indicated Excelsior was very courteous, cleaned up daily, and quickly arranged for a repair when a fallen item accidentally damaged our neighbors' steps. (Our neighbors have also used Excelsior for a new roof and recommended them, as well.) Excelsior was not the low bidder, but the quality and professionalism was worth it. read more

My boyfriend and I contacted multiple roofing contractors to get quotes for getting our roof repaired. After meeting with several companies and reviewing the different contracts, we decided to go with Excelsior Roofing, and we are both glad we did. They spelled out precisely what they were going to do in our contract, and they did it. We are very happy with the quality of the work that was done and with how professional they were, but the cleanup was the best--quick and complete. Since 1986, Excelsior has installed four new flat roofs on my house, cottage and garage/apartment. They've also done several maintanance jobs, including quick emergency trouble-shooting and repair of an obscure leak (caused by someone else's installation of a skylight). The first tar-and-gravel roof lasted 19 years with minor maintenance. They recently resealed the perimeters and plumbing vents of two roofs, one now 16 years old and still in good shape. Quick response and great service. The problem was a lightwell which had standing water - wasn't sure if was a roofing issue or drain was clogged. After surveying and climbing up the roof with another 10' ladder on shoulder it was determined it was not the roof, but pluming. He graciously resolved the problem by opening the drain and eliminating another service call to a problem. I highly recommend this small family owned operation as they are professional, courteous and more importantly extremely knowledgeable. read more

Fantastic work on a roof back in April in inner sunset. He also did a roof terrace. Great with follow up and also a great explanation of the issues.
