Luke is a dream service provider. I called and left a message, he returned the call in less than 5 minutes, he was out here in less than 15 minutes, and did I mention it is New Year's Eve?? Our gas fireplace has been non-functioning for over a year, and we had someone else out here then and what a mistake he was (if they charge just to come look at it and diagnose it, run). Luke is just awesome. He went above and beyond to help me with my outdoor fireplace!! My outdoor fireplace died on me about 6 months ago. At that time I had a handyman working on some other things at my home so I had him look at it. He took it apart and cleaned it and got to work. He advised me that it would not surprise him if it broke again as it is old and at the end of it's life. I found that odd since my home is only 9 years old. Ever since that happened I have been nervous and praying that it would not act up again. Well, just before Thanksgiving (perfect timing) it decided to die. I decided to call a professional fireplace expert this time. I called around to several places no one bothered to call back except Luke. He came out on time :) and when he took the fireplace apart it was just a dead battery on the starter. Who knew??? He informed me that the fireplace is working fine. It really was just a dead battery. The starter was not hard wired. For some reason the builder decided it was a good idea to only run starter off a battery (lazy and cheap workmanship on the builders part if you ask me). I was so relieved and so thankful to Luke. I went to pay him but Luke would not have it. He said he couldn't charge me for something so minor. I was just speechless. Luke is prompt, knows his fireplaces inside and out and very professional. If my fireplace needs to be replaced I will definitely call Luke. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family. He is honest and trustworthy! read more

I called them and they seemed nice. He came out within a week or so of me calling and I was rather impressed at first. He claimed my light switch was bad, I had a replacement that we installed (even though I was skeptical, as it was a brand new switch already). After installing the new switch, the fireplace turned on and I thought maybe I was wrong. Later that night, again the fireplace doesn't work. I had to pay ~$180 for the diagnosis, so I called them back and said it was again not working. When he came back he took two minutes to look at it and then claimed I needed a "module." He said he would order the parts and I never heard from him again, no refund and no word. I followed up TWICE with them, and each time I got the response "I'll check on the parts." So I'm out $180, a $75 switch (the original one was obviously not bad) and I still have a broken fireplace. I gave them two months and two follow ups and still nothing. I do NOT recommend. read more

I called Luke's company to inquire about updating my fireplace. I got a call back from Mike and we spoke and texted and i emailed pics of the current fireplace and a pic of what i would like the new design to look like. That's when everything went weird. The communication between Mike and I went south. I got a strange email saying 'This is going to be hard to achieve, your existing fireplace has a corner post which has to stay in place.' He had said he'd have to check with Luke and he'd get back to me. First of all, what the hell is Mike talking about? What corner post? who said anything about removing a post? it went downhill from there. I replied immediately via email inquiring what he was talking about. That i just wanted to upgrade the look inside with a light porcelain tile or something other than the brick and make a slit in the bottom for the gas to come up through. Something sleek and contemporary. Never heard a word again. A week later i replied to Mike again inquiring the same questions but also asked why i never heard back from him. His simple reply was 'Based on the pictures, i gave you a response'. nice customer service dick head. So i replied again saying 'this is no explanation at all and that i never said anything about removing a post.' Then i got an email from Luke the next day apologizing for Mike not getting back to me in a timely manner and that based on the pics Mike showed him, he basically reiterated the same stupid comment. These two weirdos are pulling imaginary information out of the sky. Removing ANYTHING was never ever discussed in texts, on the phone or in an email. I had already spoken with another fireplace guy who said what i wanted to do could be achieved and he also gave me two other design ideas too. The communication with Luke and Mike is so absurd, it's staggering. Good riddance, who needs this shit read more

They did a fantastic job and we are so happy with the result. He's a little hard to find, and works by appointment usually, but once we were ready to go, he was at our house ready to measure and order. He is very knowledgeable and professional. The first time I hired Luke, a few months ago, he was prompt and professional. I then hired him for a second fireplace and didn't hear from him until one day he knocked on my door and said he lost my number. Again, a good job performance once here. I then asked for a quote for a new grill. It took a few weeks to finally get a quote. He said he was having e-mail issues. I made phone contact and accepted his proposal to have him install the grill. That was two weeks ago. I have now called on three different days and left messages. NO return calls. Our fireplace starting acting up so we scheduled a service call with Cool Hand Luke. Scheduling was very easy and they worked with our very convoluted work schedule and fit us into an earlier slot when one opened up. We were notified when Luke was on his way and he showed up on time. Our fireplace didn't end up needing a real repair job so Luke insisted that it wouldn't be fair of him to charge us even though we tried paying him for his time. The wholesale supplier sent an updated version of the part so once we discovered the distributor's mistake Luke found and ordered a "New Old Stock" part.
