I was in the area after a run and found this restaurant on Google. When we walked in, it looked a little empty at the moment, but honestly that worked in our favor--we were seated right away. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food itself was decent. Nothing extraordinary, but not bad either pretty much what you'd expect from a casual spot. Someone came up to take our drink order with just one word "Drinks" in a bothered tone. The menu is huge so we were looking through it when he came by again, maybe a minute after we had sat down & just one word again said "Ready?" in an uninterested tone. We said sorry still looking and then he threw his hands up in the air & walked away like we were an inconvenience. It had been many years since I had been here and thought it would be great to stop in since I was passing by and hungry. I ordered a straightforward Turkey BLT on toasted rye and a bowl of lentil soup. The place was empty and the food was fine. In fairness, it was early afternoon on a Saturday. Service was moderately friendly. I felt like I was taking away from their break time and they were disappointed they had to work during this slow time. The food came out in a decent timeframe. I can only comment on the pancakes and waffles which were, to my surprise, very good. We came on a super quiet Tuesday morning. There were only 3 other customers and 2 servers in the whole place. The server didn't speak much English and was oblivious to the fact that he was there to take our order or bring us our check. Each time we had to flag him down, pulling him away from talking with the other server, and even then there was a lot of confusion about what we wanted. It's a diner. A basic New York diner. As we sat there, I found that she only looked and acknowledged my friend and not myself as if I didn't exist. She forgot our french fries and brought our omelettes first. The food the french fries were given on plates. My friend's plate was loaded with fries and I had the children's portion. she asked is everything all right looking at my friend only and not me, she offered water to my friend and not me. I had to ask her for a second glass of water. when we received the water, It tasted funny and had an after taste so we left it . The omelettes which were bland and fries the overall quality of food was not good. I the margarine placed on the toast was rancid. At this point, I was thinking was it's the fact that she just caters to men or was she racist? This waitress never addressed me at all, didn't even look my way. So I wanted to take this opportunity to let people know that I did take notice the flag on the wall that stated we support America. I also noticed that this was not a place that I felt comfortable at anymore, The only time she was server was responsive was when I was paying the check because as I was treating my buddy, and I told her that the tip was on the table and of course she brightened up then that was the warm and of course she placed my card on the table and I asked her to kindly pick up the card me . I wanted to let people know that actions have consequences and the only way that you can fight is to have your voice heard. This type of behavior will not be tolerated. is to Let people know this behavior and let my voice be heard. I'm unclear on all the bad reviews for this place and glad I didn't look before I leaped when needing a quick place to stop for breakfast. This is a classic diner with an insanely large menu who do things well (at least the two dishes my husband and I got). I had the eggs Benedict- perfectly poached eggs with some really tasty home fries on the side. My husband got a patty melt that was also really good. We were seated promptly and the staff was attentive, and courteous, if not West coast nice. All was well. Bevs showed up promptly and were refreshed when needed. Than the food arrived! One of the group ordered the deluxe egg salad sandwich on rye. He reported that it was delicious and more like a chopped egg salad, with lots of lettuce, just perfect for him. I had the Greek salad with Gyro and it was huge, fresh and delicious. Included a couple of Dolmas, a favorite of mine. The last guy in our group ordered the chef salad. Oy my! Oddly, they don't have a website to check out the menu. They do have a Facebook page, but the "menu" link to a take-out delivery service is broken. But trust me, their menu is about as impressive as anything you'll see at a mega New Jersey or Long Island diner. They have breakfast all day plus an embarrassment of riches running the full gamut of sandwiches and burgers to salads and full blown dinner entrees. The diner is massive, with two humongous dining rooms, and I thought our service was pretty good. The server was friendly and personable, the drink refills were automatic, and the food came out pretty fast. I had zero complaints with my Western omelet. It was served piping hot, tasted great, and was a decent portion. My friends ordered a cheeseburger (a massive platter with fries and rings) and an open faced hot turkey platter that came with so many side dishes, we barely had room at our booth for everything to fit. The baked goods behind the counter and at the check-out station are very impressive, and I picked up half a dozen huge raspberry Rugelach for just eighty-eight cents apiece. As far as diners go, we had a solidly average experience here, so I'm surprised to see all of the negative posts that created a 2-star average across 66 reviews. Used to eat there all the time in the 90s with my sisters and father. Went there on Saturday, and nothing has changed. Dated to say the least. Waited 20 minutes and no server came to greet us or say "just be a minute," even though it really wasn't busy. So I gave this place 2 stars because the food was okay. The French toast weren't presentable. They also weren't cooked all the way through. As you can see they are crispy but still not cooked all the way. The eggs were also okay. There were areas that were wet like they weren't cooked all the way through. The sausages I had were the best thing I had, and oh! The bananas on top of my French toast. My bf has gotten sprite and it was so sugary. Today between appointments at an adjacent medical complex I ventured into the Executive Diner because "it's got to be better than apple bees " The Diner is a true Diner old fashioned decor, the waitress was very nice and didn't bother me too much ( which I like because who wants to be bothered while they chew) the table was clean and there was enough room for me to wheel my best friend in his stroller. The Menu is vast, I noted they serve alcohol, offer tons of varieties of salads, wraps, breakfast and burgers, as well as Greek fare. Why not get a burger... The Cowboy was food to get down but unsatisfactory. I would not complain because while the burger was cooked exactly as requested it just over all wasn't a great burger. The fries meh. It came with a few big onion rings that made me smile. The cheese was barely there and did nothing to add taste, the bacon made it good, the patty was dense and lacked seasoning, even salt...yes it was charbroiled but it was very plain, even the sauce was non existent practically. I didn't expect much and that was accurate. Waitress was nice so she deserves her tip. Please always try to tip servers in cash if you may it's nice. I wanted to give this place 2 stars and bumped it back to 3. The bathroom was horrible just lacking. The baby changing table has clearly not been cleaned and shows. I had no choice and put my coat down so the baby never touched the changing table. There's always room for improvement. On Wednesday April 12th, I had the unfortunate experience of stopping for lunch at the Executive Diner on Saw Mill River Road in Hawthorne. When we walked into the restaurant it looked clean and neat. The wait staff was very attentive. This is where the experience takes a detour. We ordered two breakfast meals consisting of an American cheese omelet, home fries, and toast. The omelet was fine. The home fries looked as if they had been sitting on the grill for a week in oil. The potatoes were so tiny that it was hard to tell the difference between the onions and potatoes. On top of that mess, the appearance left a lot to be desired. They were a dark brown. I have never seen home fries that color. We also had toast. Appearance wise...no problem. That said, the taste??? We were not sure if it was the bread, the butter, or the jelly. Something tasted quite funky and inedible. We left the food on the table basically untouched. AND to add salt to the wound, the cost of this basically inedible meal was very expensive. When I told my daughter that we had lunch there, she exclaimed, "Oh no!" She said she and a friend ordered fries for pick up and it took 1 and half hours to get their order and to make matters worse, there were 4 people in this very large restaurant so being busy was not the issue. And unfortunately, they did not taste very good! So the moral of this story is NEVER AGAIN and I would tell future customers, "You have been warned!" And to the owners of the diner, please, for the sake of future customers and the health of your business...PLEASE ACCEPT THIS NARRATIVE AS A CAUTIONARY TALE TO MAKE CHANGES FOR THE BETTER! read more

Wow, what a nose dive this diner has taken. I went there today after eating there for years and it's a noticeable difference. It used to be a solid burger place but no more. I had a root beer which tasted watery. I asked for a coke- same thing. Started with a French onion soup that I had to send back- tasted like vinegar and sauerkraut soup. I ordered a Greek salad with a scoop of chicken salad. Hard to screw that up, I thought. It wasn't inedible, like the food some other reviewers have experienced. But the chicken salad was so heavy on the mayo, and the tuna was of such low quality, that the result was a blob of smooth gray paste, without any real texture. The rest of the salad was OK, but definitely minimal, low-budget ingredients. Ordered the lunch special #3. Waitress repeated back #3 which was a Ceasar salad with grilled chicken. The dish she brought me had iceberg lettuce, olives, corn, chick peas and onions. Definitely not a Ceasar salad. When I brought it to her attention she assured me that the salad I got was what I ordered...a #3. So we're straight I left a picture of the menu I ordered from, where it clearly states the dish I should have received. This place deserves the 2 star rating it already had before I got. Doordash order. A simple Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken. Got the order, no grilled chicken. Called the Diner. Person who answered the phone said No grilled Chicken was ordered. I referred him to the Doordash menu online. The person on phone said the Manager did not want to talk to me. Called back again and did get the Manager who simple said I was wrong. I explained the price difference between the Regular Salad, and the added chicken. He said again, I was wrong and hung up. Luckily Doordash refunded more then half the cost.
