Food has always been consistently good. A place the locals go for good sushi, rolls, and also grilled plates! Definitely a cozy vibe. Also great for casual family dinner. Excellent service.

Food and service was amazing first time and speeches on how good the food was best sushi I've had so far the 911 and King Kong rolls were hands down delicious the garlic edamame's and squid was so yummy coming back most definitely

VERY good sushi! We came after spending the day at Disneyland, we were starving and this was perfect! The fish was fresh and tasted amazing, portions were just right, and price was great. The crispy rice + spicy tuna appetizer was our favorite :)

Love this place! I was there for a late lunch, rush hour was over so we had the place to our selves. Simple set up with a beautiful mural covering the wall makes for a fun and practical atmosphere. The food: I chose a lunch special very well priced. Miso soup, light salad and California roll! Very light flavors and fresh but watch out for the wasabi... hot, hot! Definitely going back to try more dishes :) -Eva

BD and I decided to have dinner here on our one free night before we hit Downtown Disney. Just 10 min away, the location was easily accessible in a strip mall. We were the only people dining in but we did see a few orders being picked up to go. They have a pretty basic sushi menu and specials listed on the wall. I saw beef curry was a special item so I made sure to order this, in addition to the Sunrise and Dancing Albacore roll. We also had the spicy tuna tacos and gyoza from the apps list. Beef Curry - Big tender chunks of beef, and plenty of it to go around. Carrots and potatoes were cooked perfectly and the curry sauce thick, just how I like. This was served with rice and a side salad, and honestly very filling. I think it must have come with a miso soup too as she put one on the table for us. I only wish the curry could have been made spicier. Sunrise roll and Dancing Albacore roll - Honestly, they're okay. The rolls are cut into bite size pieces which is my preference over huge rolls that require you to unhinge your jaw. For the cost, I guess the quality makes sense. I'm used to bay area prices and the rolls here were only about $12 each so you get what you get. The fish on top did not look or taste very fresh. They were edible sure but the fish a bit rubbery. Gyoza - Okay this actually exceeded our expectations. The gyoza were juicy inside, and crispy on the outside. The dipping sauce had a light sweetness that paired perfectly with the gyoza filling and was a great starter. Spicy tuna tacos - Honestly, kinda mid. The shell of the tacos was delicious and crunchy so I loved the texture but the flavor of the spicy tuna was just eh. It was too tangy and I did not like the addition of cherry tomatoes in this. All in all, I think the place is decent for a quick bite as the food does come out really quickly yet piping hot (for the hot items). The menu isn't the most toddler friendly, but I think that's subjective. If you're from the Bay, the pricing is great but temper expectations for quality.

Came in earlier today. Been here a handful of times by now, and is consistent with food and service. Service was quick and friendly. Ambiance is pretty spacious, with average seats for 2-4 people, and can accommodate bigger parties. Food was nicely presented and good. We ordered: Ocean Sour Roll, 911 Roll, and Ninja Roll. All had Spicy Tuna / Salmon, and was pretty saucey, so not much need for soy sauce.

We needed a sushi fix after a morning at the local House of Mouse. This place popped on our radar, and we were so happy that it did! Everything was delicious. The fish was fresh and tender. Everything was well balanced in terms of texture and flavors. It was a great protein bump and I would definitely go back. Staff was friendly and service was fast. It was a bit of a slow time when we got there, but the ambiance was chill and relaxed.

Sunrise Roll! Ughhh so good and I love the sauce they provide on the side on to-go orders.

    What's the happy hour menu?

Not sure if they have a happy hour menu, but they do have a lunch menu which has some mixed promo deals.

    Do you guys take reservations?

Not usually but you can still call to ask. I've done it once or twice.

    Do they have AYCE?

No, however, their rolls are very filling.

Right across from Disneyland, our night ended with an up close view of the Disneyland fireworks. Everything tasted amazing. We ordered the Nori and Cheese Fries, Tofu Seafood Salad, 2 Double Shrimp Tempura Rolls, Rainbow Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll. My mouth is watering from writing this review... The rolls were large, flavorful, and had good amounts of fish. High quality fish here. My personal favorites were the salmon and tuna rolls. The salmon was rich and fatty. The spicy tuna had a mild kick of spice, making it enjoyable for almost any spice tolerance. I noticed the wasabi and soy sauce were milder than what I'm used to. This restaurant was moderately busy during dinner on a Friday night. Service was timely and staff were attentive. Our waters were regularly refilled and they checked on our table throughout our meal. It ended up being much more casual than we expected, with an atmosphere that felt like stepping into a restaurant from the '90s inside an older hotel. Not necessarily a bad thing--just different from what we had in mind for a birthday dinner. That said, the food was excellent and definitely the reason we'd come back. I also really enjoyed their selection of Japanese-inspired beers, which paired perfectly with the meal and were a fun addition to the experience. We started with the spicy edamame, which was good, though not a showstopper. The Chef's 10-piece nigiri was the highlight of the meal. Every piece was fresh and delicious, but the yellowtail and unagi were absolute standouts. We also ordered the spicy salmon roll, which was really good, and the double shrimp tempura roll, which was exactly what you want from a tempura roll--you really can't go wrong with it. Our server was very kind and friendly, but service wasn't especially attentive. It seemed like they may have been understaffed, so there were longer waits between check-ins than we would have liked. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the food and drinks. If you're looking for high-quality sushi and don't mind a nostalgic, old-school atmosphere, Hanagi is worth checking out. Just go in expecting excellent food rather than a luxurious dining experience.

I actually attempted to call twice before writing this review because I wanted to give the restaurant an opportunity to address my concerns directly. We dined in on Sunday evening, and I completely understand that it was busy. In fact, we love seeing small businesses thrive and attract support from the local community. We waited patiently, and after about 15 minutes, we were seated. Once seated, we understood the tablet ordering system and were able to place our orders without an issue. Unfortunately, the service began to break down from there. Our server forgot our beer order, which by itself was not a big deal. However, we were also not informed that Salmon belly Sushi was unavailable until 15 minutes after. More importantly, our first two rounds of sushi never arrived. The main waiter was not around, so we weren't able to communicate that we were getting to the point where we were considering leaving. Fortunately, Patty, who I believe was the lead on shift, noticed that we had no food in front of us and stepped in. She brought out a round of sushi and continued checking on us throughout the remainder of our visit. Unfortunately, we experienced the same issue again--our additional sushi orders never arrived. At that point, it was simply too late. We canceled the remainder of our orders and just wanted to pay and leave. I do want to give Patty credit because she genuinely tried to recover the experience. She was attentive, checked on us repeatedly, and clearly recognized that something had gone wrong. She even offered a dessert as a gesture, but by that point, we were more interested in leaving than continuing the meal. Overall, this would have been a one-star experience based on the service and execution alone. The only reason I couldn't bring myself to give one star was because of Patty and the effort she made to take ownership of the situation. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. When a restaurant is busy, I completely understand that things can take longer. What matters is communication, awareness, and making sure guests aren't left wondering what happened to their orders. I truly hope this was just an off night because I have had many wonderful experiences here in the past and would love to see the restaurant get back to the level of hospitality I've come to expect. Also, please tell your sushi chefs to not chew gum while preparing Guests' sushi.
