My sushi chef name Mins is the best--his skill, attention to detail, and consistency keep me coming back every time. The sashimi is absolutely amazing and one of the best dishes on the menu. As a sushi lover, I'm always on the look out for new sushi restaurants near me. This restaurant isn't new, they've actually been here for 10 years but they just introduced a new all you can eat menu which is what intrigued me and my boyfriend to come try it out! The price for AYCE is $37.95 which is pretty fair, it included limited special items such as sashimi, sweet shrimp, jumbo scallop, amberjack, salmon belly, and more. Although the special items were limited, having one of each is enough given the large variety on the menu. (Pro tip, come with a big group of friends so you can have the pieces from those who don't want their portion) Everything was super fresh and the presentation was beautiful. You can tell the chef puts a lot of effort into every plate. My favorite items were the salmon belly, sweet shrimp sushi, and baked green mussels. So buttery and delicious! We ended our meal with the fried banana ice cream. I thought the fried banana would be heavy after a big meal, but it didn't feel that way at all. It was yummy, creamy and refreshing. It's hard not to feel heavy after having ayce but luckily we ordered just the right amount of everything! The restaurant is small but offers a good amount of seating from tables to a sushi bar and even a small patio. The parking lot is small since it shares a parking lot with a few other businesses, but i've never had a problem finding parking here. The place is under new ownership with new management and menu. The menu is very big with good choices of regular cut rolls, hand rolls or speciality cut rolls. My partner & I opted for the regular menu instead of Ayce. We got the mango cut rolls, the dragon roll & the crunch rolls, which was all good with fresh fish. My personal favorite was the mango roll, which we choose salmon as the choice of fish to go with the roll. I like how you're allow to choose which fish option you can get. The fresh wasabi is highly recommended if you like its strong flavor and aftertaste. I was not very impressed with the remaining dishes. The sashimi were ok but the texture was a little cold and chewy (to me) like it was not defrosted enough for sashimi. But you can't beat 99 cents beer. This little place is surrounded by other busy businesses, so parking can be a bit of an issue. When you walk inside this place just feels comforting. Fairly sizeable, the art is great. I came in during soft opening, so there were some great deals. 99 cent Sapporo on draft and they're actually a decent size for the price tag. Each sushi roll have 5 pieces instead of the usual 8, so that it's a good, "just enough" of a roll. They do have some rolls under 10 dollars. We did order the Sensual Pleasure roll, which was actually still a decent size for a 5 piece roll. It was actually really good. We ordered both the yellowtail and the salmon collar, those were basically melt in your mouth and the skin were nice and crispy. Baked Mussels are a must for me, they're and these ones don't disappoint. The bento box was $20, but it came with so much. I got the Chicken Karaage, beef teriyaki, and the donkatsu. The salad on it had that amazing dressing on it, and of course it had rice. It's very much worth the price, and great for those who don't like fish! We also wanted to try the tonkatsu ramen. The broth was rich and creamy, the noodles had that perfect bounce. The chashu was tender and complemented the ramen. Last we ordered the sashimi plate. The fish was fresh and delicious. Now they offered their spicy sauce, which I tried. I love me some hot sauce, this was actually a bit warm. It was really good with the sashimi though! The service was great, the waiter was very helpful throughout the entire service. And everything was amazing. We had dinner here the other night. Parking can be an issue since it is small and there are several businesses that share the same parking lot. The restaurant is simple and charming. They are in a soft opening phase and offering some great deals that will be part of their grand opening. The grand opening date has not been announced as of this review. They have 99 cent Sapporo on draft. They also have rolls under $10. The rolls are 5 pieces instead of the usual 8 pieces at other locations but the rolls are just as large. We got both the salmon and yellowtail collar. Both were large with crispy skin. The fish itself was fatty and moist. Just delicious fish collars. Came here on a Wednesday night around 7pm in a party of 4 and it was not crowded at all, we got seated immediately. We ordered: the 911 roll, two california rolls, baked salmon roll, triple s roll, rainbow roll, dragon roll, crunchy roll, white truffle salmon, and sashimi salad. Went to Hana Maru for the first time during my lunch break. I ordered the Philadelphia Roll, Sensual Pleasure Roll, Aloha Roll, and the Salmon Collar since they did not have the yellowtail collar available. Overall, the sushi itself was average. Nothing really stood out flavor-wise, but the Salmon Collar was definitely the highlight of the meal. I would come back just for that. One thing that caught me off guard was the portion pricing. The menu lists rolls as 6 pieces, but the server asked if I wanted 6 or 8 pieces and I chose the larger portion. When the bill came, I realized the price was essentially doubled. If I had known that beforehand, I probably would have just ordered two rolls for the same price and gotten more variety. Service was a little slow. I was the only person in the restaurant at the time, but it still took a while for the server to initially come over, and there was a long gap before I saw her again. She seemed like she might be new, so that could have played a role. The ambiance itself was nice though. The restaurant was clean, organized, and had a pleasant atmosphere for a casual lunch. I was seated at the sushi bar and the chef did not acknowledge me at all until the food was handed over, which made the experience feel a little impersonal. Overall, the place was okay. Just sad... Like most of the recently reviews, this used to be my favorite sushi spot. I would recommend to my friends and begged them to try it with me one day because their inside seating was always nice and the younger man at behind the counter was always welcoming, hard working and always there. Today I ordered my usual 2 bento boxes for my mom and I. Only to be very disappointed and actually pissed. They got (what seemed like) Jacks Links beef jerky and tossed it in teriyaki sauce to call it "Beef Teriyaki". - It was literally the driest beef I've ever had. Store bought beef jerky isn't even this dry and this is NOT an exaggeration. How does "fresh" beef FROM A RESTAURANT snap like a popsicle stick?!?! The chicken katsu was also just very flavorless and this truthfully comes from a guy who eats about anything :/ Then, the rice and miso soup come completely on the side of the bento boxes which isn't necessarily a big deal, but it just feels extremely wasteful when my meal is coming out of 5 different plastic containers like a Russian doll. (Ginger and wasabi also in a tiny plastic container too...) All in all, the new management is sacrificing quality for profitability. And this is extremely sad to see happen to my local and favorite sushi spot. Ive always enjoyed coming here as a kid, and came back a couple days ago after many years with my family. The new management has brought a decline in both service and food quality. The server, (probably new), didn't know the bento box came with up to 3 options to choose from. When we tried to clarify, she kept getting confused and couldn't really remember what we ordered. At one point during our meal, she came to check on us, and saw that we had 1 piece of sushi left. Seeing this, she told us she'd take the plate back when I finished the roll. She proceeded to stand there and wait, which made me have to rush and scoop it up. I've never ever had a server wait and watch me eat so they could clean up?!? Speaking of the roll, the Philadelphia roll came all messed up. The salmon was sliced extremely unevenly, and the rice was messy and falling off. The sushi chefs mustve been new too The shrimp in the Crunch Roll was extremely bland and almost tasted and felt old. The Bento Boxes changed a lot since Ive came but the quality of the salmon and chicken definitely declined. Throughout all this, the employees were talking awfully loud at the front counter. I assumed they had 2-3 rolls at their under $10 special price, but it's ALL of their rolls that are under $10! As soon as I walked in service was great, thank you Jessi and crew! They have a relaxed indoor and patio area to enjoy. I started with the Tiger Roll and Baked Salmon Roll, I paired them with their 99cent ice cold 12oz Sapporo and a Ozeki Cup Sake! Avocado rolls seem very basic, but it is hard to nail imo. We have a person who does not eat any fish, shell fish, or seafood, for that matter, and they always get avocado rolls, and it was just ok here. The shrimp tempura 10/10 is the best I've ever had. It wasn't a skimpy little shrimp that curled. This was a fat succulent shrimp with a delicate light coating of panko, and when you bit into it, it was light and perfectly cooked without any chew.
