I've had a bit of a mixed experience here. In four years the rates were already 50% higher than move in, and the insurance feels questionable. That said, Kim checked me in and has been exceptionally attentive to my needs and questions! Storage can feel sketchy at times, but this facility has been clean, and the staff great. I recently was helping an unemployed veteran that had fallen behind in his payments and his unit contents were up for auction. Fortunately we were able to prevent due to the help of Dora and Kim. They made some exceptions in the payment process and the problem was corrected. Dora was a pleasure to work with and was extremely helpful in the resolution of the problem. This is the worse customer service I have experienced ever. I used to lived in CA for a long time then I moved to WV since the year 2011. So much exciting to move back to California even though moving is hard enough to deal with but this is a state to state moving even harder. Because we have not found the home we like yet so we decided to rent the storage while we looking for a new home. Therefore, went online and found the EXTRA SPACE STORAGE since they was rated at 4 stars and has an offer for the first month free. Not just that, we even made a trip back to CA and came in in person to confirm our reservation. At first, Christie Bedard, the assistant store manager said that no 1st month free rent since we made the reservation online??? We were still okay with that and asked Christie to show us the space. It was space R212 and it was a rolling door. We even asked Christie the price, insurance, the lock and if we need to put down deposit to keep the space. Christie said we do not put deposit down right at the time and wait until we are back for the exactly day. We made sure to her if she can keep the space for us then Christie firmly said we do not have to worry because she already put the note on the system then whoever assist us on the date has Scheduled will know. While we were back in West Virginia for final packing, one of the rep from EXTRA STORAGE SPACE Called us to confirm a reservation we answered yes. On the August 1 while we were still on the way with a big Uhaul struck, we called Christie again to make sure the space is still available, she said YES . And on the August 2nd when we're just about 2 hours away we called Christie again and Once again, CHRISTIE BEDARD said "yes, we still keep the space for you". But when we got to there With the Uhaul truck Christie said" I'm sorry the space were sold out because some other staff does not know you have the reservation so the rented out to other customer"?????. So tired with the long way from WEst Virginia to Cali we were upset and frustrated when Christie said that. We asked to talk to a manager and Christie showed us one lady in the short her name is Kimberly Buchanan Coleman, she introduced herself as a store manager. Not to mention the way Kimberly dressed ( she were wearing shorts) unprofessionally but the way she talked to us even worse, so ghetto and rude. Kimberly said" somebody gave the space for someone else and we can not do anything with that" we told her we have the reservations then she just shakes her shoulder then said" I don't know" when we asked her so what she here for as a store manager? Then Kimberly just gave us an attitude but can not explained anything. So we have to called around for an hour to look for a new storage. We called PUBLIC STORAGE, the one next door of EXTRA STORAGE SPACE, they gave us a quote so much higher and finally we found out that they are, Extra storage space and public space are the same company/ onwer My recommendation is big NO on this place. The service very bad and so dishonest. They never give you one 1st month rent free as they advertised and the price is different with a lot of add on. Sorry for a long review but hopefully when we share our experience will help the other customers to avoid the frustration they should not have when they try to give this place a business. read more

Came by to store some office equipment and furniture, very pleasant front desk, and their prices seemed below what others in the area were charging. Facilities are well maintained, and can not find any fault with the support staff. All in all a great experience. You can be comfortable going to them. read more

Was going to rent from them due to their extremely convenient location to my situation, but the hard sales tactics used at their call center were not only absurd, but so annoying and pushy that I decided to look elsewhere. When I call a business it's usually because I'm looking for answers that weren't available online, not a half hour scripted phone conversation. Just quick, convenient answers, that's customer service, and don't push me or argue with me. read more

On customer service: Kim and Edwardo were extremely friendly. I've only met Edwardo once on move-in. Kim really goes out of her way to make renting from them a good experience. I needed to move to a larger unit and Kim made the process smooth and we shared some witty banter throughout. On the facilities: if your unit is outside there may be risk of dampness. I suggest putting your stuff on some boxes, bed raisers, planks of wood, etc. I don't think the units flood but this winter's storms did leave one of my boxes wet (contents undamaged) on one side. Perhaps water seeped a bit under the door. Kim offered boxes for me to stack stuff on but I had brought unused shelf pieces for that purpose when I discovered the water issue. That said, the facility itself appears very clean and there are security cameras monitoring each pathway. read more

I have rented here since I moved out of state a few years ago and they constantly raise the rent! With no notice at all either - I notice it on my bank statement when they process my automatic payment. When I moved in it was $55 monthly now it is $120! Ridiculous! I'm planning a trip just to switch companies so I don't have to deal with their constant increases. When I call and email to her more info about the increases they ignore me. Warning - find another storage space and avoid these people like the plague. read more

Clean, efficient, fairly priced storage in OC. Located just off 22 Freeway and only a few minutes from the 405. Fast check in with almost fully automated system. Manager on site, Kim, is polite and friendly. Also, the storage rates at OTHER places are raised on a regular basis during your contract. My storage prices here did not change for the 18 months I was a tenant. Big advantage. Call here first for your storage needs. read more

Facility Elevator was broken, and lights not working in my hallway - doesn't give me a very secure feeling. The gentleman with her showed me to my unit - and was friendly and helpful, although the above-mentioned problems with the lighting and elevator. When I went back to the office to sign the papers, I was told that I would be charged an additional $10/month over the online quoted rate for required insurance. Since I had read online that this was optional, I mentioned that to Kim, which seemed to piss her off. When I asked if theft happened regularly at this location, she said that it was a normal occurance in all the storage units in the area. WHAT?!? Assuming that she as just trying to get me to increase my monthly payment, I declined the insurance. I asked her if the lock that I was purchasing from her is the type to normally get picked. She replied, "Yup, sure is!" seeming pleased to stick it to me for not buying her insurance. Like she'll show me when my unit gets broken into - great lady thanks. This would have been an excellent opportunity for her to upsell me on the more expensive lock, which I would've bought, but she had already opened the package on my lock and I knew she didn't care. Finishing up this wonderful experience, I was told to fill out my contract online, twice being told I could read the details at home, apparently because they didn't want to wait the few minutes it took me to skim through it. I said "Yes, I know, but I like to read contracts before I sign them. I was then told to fill out their online survey, and was then thanked for taking the time to do so - as if I was given a choice. The staff are EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating. I have dealt with Kim and Eduardo. They have been very helpful. The introductory offer for the first month rent is great. The location feels secure. The other tenants are very friendly as well. This is the first time I have rented a storage unit, but I have helped a friend elsewhere and the staff, gate hours, security, and friendliness of Extra Space far surpasses my friend's storage company. Was moving to California and needed a storage space. Found Extra Space Storage on line. Compared prices and found them to be the most reasonable. Filled out the quick reservation form and submitted. As it came close to my move in date I found that more space was needed at the storage location. Checked and found a different location had the larger space I needed for a good price. Called and canceled the reservation and they transferred it to the new location. Walked in, viewed the space and rented within a few minutes.
