When the grill that I had ordered was not available, they upgraded me to a larger and more expensive grill and did not charge me for the additional - they honored their price and stuck to it. Another lie! Updated from after his response 5/7/16 - he states his palapa guy was sick, when he was out of town for vacation. Smh that James continues to weave a web of lies. THIS GUY IS A CROOK!!! Save your money!!! If a zero was an option I would choose this. Unfortunately we took a chance on this local business to have a custom island and palapa built. The money hungry owner James Sr. Is an inconsiderate SOB and needs to work on his communication. He makes it sound like he's giving you a deal but don't be fooled. When it came time for delivery the island was there and no palapa (a$1300 addition). I was never told it wasn't going to be completed on another day. Luckily I held back some of the money. When I asked James when it would be installed his guys no showed the next 2 times. Each time I reached out to James he had another excuse but what did he care? He already got his cash from me for the island. He doesn't take responsibility for the lies he tells and he honesty never even apologized. When I reached out via email regarding payment he responded within 20 mins but when it was something on his end, he was too busy. At the end of the day I cancelled the palapa because of his unprofessional dumb ass. I came into the store to get my refund and he was a coward and sent someone else to help me. He couldn't even repay me back in cash like I paid him. And of course it was too much to for him to make eye contact and apologize for the trouble he put me through. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!! Although I agree with one of the other posters that the prices can be decent, especially if you pay cash, but, the flip side to that is the customer service. It is truly some of the worst I've seen yet from any company. Once they get your money you can look forward to rude and condescending telephone chat if you need to call them for something and they don't deliver on their promises of returning calls and setting up delivery times. And speaking of delivery; a couple young punks delivered my fire table and patio chairs. These kids were in such a hurry to drop the stuff and leave, they wouldn't even remove the stryro and plastic wrapping on my chairs. Also a word of caution; the gal that works there (who is a bonehead from the word go and is the source of the rudeness) is one of the owners daughters so she treats customers however she feels without anyone to answer to. I bought my spa from them as well and they were supposed to come to my home after delivery and set-up to give me a rundown of the system and how to clean and maintain it. Never heard from them or saw them again. This was told to me by the spa manufacture that they are required to give you a orientation on each spa they sell. Their service and reputation is so bad that the owner of "American Hot Tubs" told me personally that he was going to drop Extreme Backyard Designs from his vendor list as he didn't feel they gave any support for his spas and had a hard time dealing with them as a vendor. If you have some cash and know exactly what you want, you can negotiate some decent deals. But if your concerned about warranty and after the sale treatment, I wouldn't touch these guys. I also didn't receive an owners manual for any of the items I purchased, including the spa and BBQ. For over $8000.00 you would think you would get the paperwork that came with the product. Our entire experience with Extreme Backyard Designs has been a pleasantly smooth one! We had been looking around getting quotes when my husband came across EBD. We went in, met with Ed and fell in love with the possibilities. Ed by far was very patient and kind. He took the time to listen to what my husband and I wanted and what our needs were with our new bbq island. Every detail from the bbq grill, to the dimensions of the bbq island, etc... he was there for us explaining everything. He took everything we said we wanted and that's exactly what we got! Besides the amazing designs and quality of their islands, Ed was actually the one who won us over on our decision to go with EBD. The team of men who came to deliver our new beauty were just as great! Hugo, Harley and I forgot the third guy's name (sorry!) were awesome! They installed everything, plugged in all of the electrical to make sure everything was working and cleaned up after themselves. They were informative, kind and funny! We didn't get to test out the bbq, burner or the fire heater because we need to hook up our gas lines (but I am sure they will work properly and if not EBD will be there to correct it). Lastly, we had to have a crane pick up and drop our bbq to our backyard. This was actually a pretty amazing experience for our family. We have two little ones (4 & 5) who were in such aww. My wife and I ended up at Extreme Backyard and met James who was willing to help us design a BBQ Island to fit our needs and price range. He was very reasonable with the extras we wanted and helped us choose a quality BBQ (Delta Heat) that we are very happy with. We made the deal back in July. As with the other reviews, we had some minor issues that needed to be added or repaired after the initial set up, so James had his crew out right away to make everything right! Customer service was great until they got paid and I signed the "all sales are final" invoice. I found this business on Yelp and contacted them to coordinate a last minute BBQ purchase. James, the owner, was quick to respond, gave me his cell number, and asked me to text him pictures of the existing BBQ/island with the dimensions of the opening. I sent him the info and we scheduled to meet at the store. James walked me through the showroom, showing me several options that would supposedly fit the current opening. He started to point out others that wouldn't exactly fit and I said I wasn't interested (then I'd have to modify the island). I didn't take a tape measure and thought he understood exactly what size I needed based on our texts. I decided on one of the BBQs he recommended, paid for it, and scheduled to have it delivered by a contract vendor. The installer arrived on time and, I soon found out, had to widen the opening by removing approx 1 1/2" of countertop. Umm, I thought it was supposed to fit?? When I got home that evening, I looked at it again and realized a 2 3/4"+ horizontal gap along the bottom because the new grill had a much smaller face than the old grill. Now, the edges of the cut tile and unpainted stucco are completely exposed and it looks unfinished. The bbq and the island don't look like they belong together at all. This is exactly what I DIDN'T want to happen. I text the installer and he said he would have closed the gap with a piece of stainless steel trim had that been on the work order, but it wasn't. I then called the store and spoke to a woman, who ask me to text her a picture of the gap and directed me to James. When he picked up, I was appalled at his tone. He was so EXTREMELY condescending, like I'm supposed to be the bbq expert and should have known better. He was talking over me, yelling into the phone, and scolding me like a child. I have never been so disrespected and even had to ask him to lower his voice, which he really didn't do. Just because he kept yelling "ma'am" doesn't mean he wasn't completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I was just trying to voice my disappointment in the final outcome and see how it could be corrected. Sorry my Master's Degree isn't in BBQs! By the end of the call, he said there was nothing he could do and directed me to the manufacturer's website to verify they require a 2" gap under the front of the grill. Umm, yeah, I checked that and there's no such info. The pictures of island BBQs on the Napoleon website don't even show gaps. Nice try. Like another reviewer already stated, what a liar. Prices seemed decent, but I'll never do business here again. Please go somewhere else. read more

I would like to say that this store is the diamond in the sea of patio/BBQ stores. We fell upon Del at the OC Market Place he was not the typical pushy salesman. Instead gave his thoughts and ideas for our situation. Very positive experience after our conversation he informed us of their store and we should check it out. After a couple of weeks we did just that. They had everything we were looking for to put into our backyard. Working with James he allowed my wife to choose without being hounded as most salesmen do. We bought a Spa, Fire Table, and BBQ. He also recommends excellent contractors if you are in need of having work done. On the day of install everything went smoothly. We are very happy with the quality of the barbecue island and it took less time to be completed than originally quoted. The temperature gauge has moisture in it after the rain, but James said he would order a new one for us as it is under warranty. Delivery and set-up was exceptional considering the size of the island and navigating through the gate to my yard!!!
