This is where I have been going for my eye exams for most of the last ten years (minus the one year I was told I had to go elsewhere due to my insurance). Although the eye doctors here have a high turnover rate, it hasn't affected the quality of care I receive. I feel confident that the three doctors who I saw most regularly cared for my eye health and still feel good that they all knew what they were doing. I have seen more than three due to appointments and such, but I always ask to be seen by the same as my last appointment (when possible). The office itself is very clean and well kept. Over the years, they have renovated and expanded. So, as of 2017, the interior is practically brand new and very inviting and comfortable. Today, I appreciated all the patience and help from the techs, front desk, and doctor since I had my one-year old with me. He was so good, but they all helped also. Minimal waiting and pleasant attitudes! If you have to wait for your appointment (like I had to once due to going in on a heavy walk-in day), the waiting area has very nice upholstered chairs and benches. The optical store is also open, so you can look at (and try on) eyeglasses. That's always fun! I usually end up buying my glasses elsewhere because I have expensive tastes in frames and a very high index lenses, but I can figure out my style and size here. Sometimes, I just get contact lenses! Last few years, I've been getting new (updated) lenses in my old (favorite) designer frames. These Prada frames are 12 years old, but still sell for over $300 in a different color! Well, if you're looking for an optometrist or optician, check out this place. Or, if you just want to try on their latest frames, go inside. It's nice and almost never crowded. The only thing that could be an issue is parking. It's a small lot for one business and there is another office next door. So, look left for more parking spaces as you enter their business parking. That is why I didn't give 5 stars. Parking. Plus, their eyeglass prices and just out of my price range. Maybe I'm too old school, but I end up ordering online. I've been coming to eyecare plus for over 8 years for eyeglasses and contacts - between the Antioch and Clarksville location. Recently the deceptive practices in the Clarksville location have me frustrated with not providing full disclosure of costs and what's covered under the insurance to where I've ended up paying for prescriptions for both glasses and contacts when only one is needed to fulfill the insurance obligations. I've purchased the insurance to cover lost or stolen glasses only to discover it doesn't cover lost or stolen! PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE! These people gave me a price for glasses with an added "Tricare discount" that THEY OFFERED ME, I paid the price they gave me thinking everything was fine. When I come to pick up my glasses their manager tells me that their discount didn't work and that THEIR EMPLOYEE priced my frames incorrectly from the start and because of that I would have to pay an extra $70 or I couldn't take the glasses. The UNPROFESSIONAL manager also told me the woman who sold me the glasses no longer was employed by them AS IF that was supposed to soften the blow of them pricing me incorrectly. I refused to pay for their employees mistake and walked out without the glasses. It is the PRINCIPLE, own up to your mistake and HONOR the original price you gave. My wife "WAS" a customer for over 10 years. This year when she went in to order a new pair of glasses she told the employee she wanted the same style as last time (Bifocals). She selected the frames and they ordered the lens, single vision and not bifocals. We paid the copay and extra insurance did not cover. When they came in and she could not see with them she had them check them they were not the bifocals she needed. They reordered the correct lens and charged us again for their mistake and refused to credit or refund us for the first lens they messed up stating it was a communication error and not the employees. They do not give you a copy of what they order or confirm anything before they order them and take you money unless you ask. read more

Made an appt a week in advance. Filled out all paperwork online at time of making appt. Wake up at 6am. Get in car 6:45am for 7:30am. Get to eyecare plus and they tell me NOW that they realized my insurance had something special or whatever about it and they couldn't get in touch with anybody. Why wasn't this all verified before my Saturday appt?. Obviously, I found another place to go - Pearl vision just down the street had same day afternoon appt. I would not recommend a place this incompetent from the start. Also my friend had appt before me and waited 20 minutes. Shouldn't be behind in schedule this early in the morning. read more

Went in to get my lenses replaced and asked for them to be tightened in the process. Realized after they closed that the spring on the left side was broken. I was given back my glasses opened and automatically put them on my face thinking they were all good so I didn't think much of it till I tried to close them and the left side wouldn't close. I went back the next morning to see if they could be fixed and the same lady who did it (she had leaf tattoo) basically told me there was nothing she could do and I would have to buy a new frame outta pocket for her mistake. I've had my glasses for 3 years and have always taken great care of them and they were perfectly fine until after getting them back when I brought them in that day to get the new lenses. The optometrist is very kind and patient. That's the only positive thing I have to say. I waited 45 minutes to an hour to be seen after arriving on time for my scheduled appointment. Be wary of ordering anything from them. Their staff is notorious for not following through on their orders, from putting them in incorrectly or for following up with you when they have arrived. Make sure that you verify your prescription with them and don't expect them to actually call when your order is in. read more

My office visit was amazing as usual, it wasn't until after my visit that I decided I wasn't going back. The people that fit you for the glasses/lenses try to upsale you for your glasses/lenses. I arrived at 2:15pm and I did not leave until 4:17pm, a 2 hour appointment is not what I signed up for by any means. They took my glasses and then the lady that was helping me made it seem like I had to pay for my new lenses before I could get my old glasses back. I'll not be returning to this office for anything other than for my eye exam, I'll not be buying anything else for these sales people. read more

Firstly, let me say that the staff and doctors here are all so nice and informative! The office is very nicely set up. The only complaint I have is the ability to get through to someone who can take medical and insurance questions. I'm sure there are many other people, especially in times like these, that have to triple-check their expenses and plan for allocation of funds if needed. Something about their phone system made it extremely difficult to get in touch with the actual front desk at this location. I could get through to someone who could schedule an appointment for me, but they couldn't answer any questions about my possible expenses because of the nature of my visit. They would transfer me to the front desk and I would either be on hold forever or I could hear everyone in the office talking and moving around but it seemed like no one could hear me or even knew i was on the phone. Literally everything else was great once I was able to get through to someone who could help me. read more

I recently visited EyecarePlus in Clarksville to be fitted and order my glasses. Kimberly was very professional and friendly and helped me through my process. Changing frames got me is quite stressful for me since I've worn glasses all my life and it's the first thing people notice so I want them to be the right ones. Kimberly helped me make a stress free transition and I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. All the staff I encountered there were very attentive and friendly and I highly recommend them. read more

i fly EMS helicopters and good vision is a job requirement. My vision has been great up till a few years ago so I got a full eye exam at the request of my doctor. I explained the unique needs I had for my glasses. I need to be able to wear a flight helmet with night vision goggles and also need to be able to focus on near and far objects easily. I also look at computer screens a lot both in and out of the helicopter. I got progressive lenses with multiple coatings that help keep the lenses clean and help with computer glare. I LOVE THESE GLASSES! I didn't realize how much eyestrain I had been living with. I will admit I had copays that insurance didn't cover but the cost was worth it in my case. read more

I mean the atmosphere alone is breath taking, not like COVID-19 breath taking because then it would be the root of this pandemic but breath taking in the sense that the friendly staff makes you want to stop what you're doing because they're about to ruin the image and the style that you're used to. They greet you with a friendly face and great attitude. Dr. Henderson is seriously one of the best optometrists I have ever seen. Went in to get my daughters examination a week ago and the staff were kind and polite. However, as soon as we got to the back, the technician was very pushy about my daughter receiving eye dilation ( not particularly necessary) and got flustered when I declined it.. repeatedly. After the " eye puff" part of the exam we saw the ophthalmologist and she was professional. Afterwards, we went to the lobby to check out and set up my daughters new prescription lenses. The lady at the desk to get the new lenses started was kind but disorganized, she didn't have the prescription in hand or anything. Though she did feel comfortable and confident to tell me that in order to start the order for the new prescription I would need to pay $45 then the remaining balance at pick up. I thought it was odd but asked about the possibility of getting new frames with the lenses. She went to the desk to check and informed me that the insurance company won't cover new frames til January. I left there not ordering anything til I spoke with my daughters stepmom ( she's the insurance holder). I called the office, (when I finally got ahold of someone)...got told they were too busy and they would call me back. Didn't get called back... so I called again the next evening... finally got the ophthalmologist on the phone and she told me that the insurance company won't cover everything and I'll have a lengthy wait (4-6 weeks if not longer) but if I go through their company I can get everything that's needed sooner but it'll cost me $361.00 ( pay half then the rest at pick up). I got off the phone with her and contacted the stepmom to let her know, we both agreed to get the prescription to her eye physicians office to see about a better deal. Come to find out... my daughter wasn't even suppose to have an exam til next year in January which would cover everything she needed plus new frames for only $90 total. Which all this would have popped up in the computer system for them to see and tell me before the exam occurred. Also, several people had to of seen this ( the front desk personnel who checked us in , the technician who saw that the frames were not eligible til January, and the ophthalmologist who gave me the pricing as well as what the insurance was going to cover and why) and yet said nothing. I will never take my daughter or any of my family back there again, such a scam. Also I want to note that when I received a reminder about the appointment.. I was not notified that there was an issue or anything about the insurance not covering the frames and/or new lenses til January and asked if I would like to reschedule the appointment. They tried to bypass the insurance to get me to pay full price for the lenses that my child needed. read more

For the record- I have never had to purchase eye glass. I am self admittedly ignorant of how much a pair of glasses cost or what normally needs for person who do wear glasses. I don't wear glasses. I kind of let the Dr's be the experts and I feel a bit burned by this place. So, with that in mind. 1. Arrived 10 min before our appointment 4PM ( I am a retired/disabled Vet, so it's even a rule in my retired life too now) We left at 5:40 PM. Seemed a bit too long of an appointment. 2. You could clearly hear in the lobby other customers issues/business, one such was a guy who apparently was dissatisfied with his transition lenses. Honestly, felt there was little privacy even behind closed doors as you can still hear what was going on outside the doors and clearly hear conversations. Though not all that worried about HIPPA, but felt they open themselves up for HIPPA violations. 3. The technician was pleasant, did explain what she was doing and what to expect. She mentioned and did try to "up-sale" in lieu the eye dilation(eye drops) you can get pictures of the eye for $49. Nurse took BP, went into pre exam. Dr was pleasant. 4. It felt a bit disorganized during most of the appointment, not a very good flow. Comparing this to other regular DR appt's here. 5. NEVER received eye prescription after seeing the optometrist, had to get it next day!!! Violation of the FTC Rule BTW- yea this is a real rule. I reported it via website to FTC "The Federal Trade Commission's Eyeglass Rule requires that patients receive a copy of their new prescription after an exam -- even if the patient doesn't request it. Nor can the eye doctor charge a fee for releasing the prescription." 6. Sales: After my 17 year old found a set of glasses that fit and he liked, we sat down with the sales lady and she wrote out the cost, we got a 25% discount due to being a Tricare patient. The sales lady kept stating we will take the "Dr's recommendations" and she broke down the cost for all his recommendations. I have a fairly good trust of Dr's, so I took the recommendations. The Sales lady never stated, nor did I ask, to be fair, that they were not necessary items. She basically presented me the costs and stated how they take payments, half now and half on delivery or full payment. (full price would have been over $700,without discounts. I paid ~$570). So, got home, wife asked me some questions; I told her it was expensive and she basically told me I was completely ripped off and to go back and get a refund. They are cheaper at Walmart and those "DR recommendations" were complete mark ups, completely unnecessary, to take advantage of people who don't have the medical background or experience to know it's very unnecessary. I called 10 am the next day, was told that they have a policy(not posted anywhere nor was I ever told this ever) of a 30% restock fee. Having lived in other states, MOST states have a policy, law that says refund policies must be posted or customer must be aware. I double check, Tennessee has no laws for " rights of rescission". I still couldn't help but feel their approach seemed a bit underhanded and misleading by using the words "DR recommendations" and never stating it was not necessary to begin with. I asked for a refund, I had 30% deducted and the purchase was literally not even 16 hours ago and it was a Friday appt and Saturday morning that I called. I am absolutely sure the restock fee for the frames cost them nothing ( that was a $399 pair, and even if they are so efficient, that they probably didn't even start the lenses first thing Saturday morning. I was told by sale lady when i purchased, it would be a week....again, I felt ripped off, horribly misled and lied to. I am out $160 (30% restock fee, which, again, is bogus) for probably something they never started- it was a freaking Saturday. Simply put, NO i am not going back here and YES, I am telling everyone to steer clear of this place. I am not done with my complaint and will take it further. read more

My sons glasses turned out ok but my 2 pair, so far, have been a different story. I haven't received them yet because when I went to pick them up I could not see out of either pair! Super blurry. They had put reader lenses in my sunglasses! My prescription calls for multifocal. So both pair had to be redone and I haven't gotten them yet. They are also charging me an additional $105.50 on top of the $918.07 I have already paid to make the lenses progressives. Hopefully they will be correct when I go back. This is our first time here so my review is based off of this one experience. Everyone there was friendly. We were walk ins but I had called beforehand with my info. We were called back right away. I probably would've given them 5 stars if the tech had walked my daughter through the process. She's 11 and hasn't ever needed glasses before. With that said, she was very startled when the machine shot out a puff of air into her eye. The optomitrist was very kind and patient. We were able to get her glasses the same day because the lab tech was there. Very happy with today's visit. read more

I spent three hours at this clinic to be sent home with contacts that I can't even wear because they got the prescription wrong for my right eye. What's worse is that I could hear the conversation between the tech and the optometrist about it and the optometrist said it was fine and that I could go home--probably because they had gotten the script wrong on my left and eye already and had to replace that contact 20 minutes prior. This is the first review that I have ever written... For anything. I was very disappointed in my experience wth eyecare plus. First, their selection of glasses is very poor, but that is where my insurance sent me. I was told that I must get my eyes dilated or pay extra to have pictures taken of my retina. I had no one to pick me up, so I could not have my eyes dilated; I had to pay extra for the pictures. While they were cool to look at, I think it was an unnecessary cost. I have had glasses/contacts for over 15 years and have never had to do either of these procedures. I was not able to get the contacts that I requested. (Contacts that I had worn before without a problem) Instead, I was told that I would be given a Cooperflex brand of contacts because they were the same as what I wanted. (I felt very pressured) NOT TRUE! They were uncomfortable and dry by lunch. I asked about getting the contacts that I originally asked for and I was told that They could order them but it would be weeks before they came in. Lastly, when my glasses finally came in, the lady that fitted me went on to tell me how difficult the glasses I ordered were to put together. (frameless drill-ins) She then stated that because it was difficult for her, she superglued the prongs into the drilled out holes. Within a month the prongs were pushed out and unable to be placed back in the holes because of the amount of superglue that filled the holes that were meant for the prongs. $400 glasses ruined within a month. Please, I hope that none of you waste your time or money at this establishment. read more

Unorganized and unprofessional. I had an eye exam back in early January. The person who did the exam messed up. When I picked them up I could not see out of the right eye. Another person re-examined and told me the other had written the wrong prescription down so she rewrote it. When they came back (they were in and they didn't bother to let me know until I called questioning multiple times) they were the wrong shape and not the updated prescription still. This has gone on for months and they constantly refused to take ownership of any of their mistakes in all of this and keep blaming the insurance company. I have constantly had to call them, they swear they will return calls and don't, forget to even contact the insurance company or mail things to them or follow up in anyway. My old glasses are literally falling apart and I will never go back after/if I ever get these glasses. I paid over 300 and insurance covered even more and I still don't have glasses I can use. read more

I will never go to this place again, my husband went in on January for a routine eye exam to get new glasses, we paid our part which was 273.00 VSP paid there part, I did call VSP to confirm they paid, 5 months later they also billed the medical insurance for 15 other services which he did not receive for a total 500.00 dollars, I also received a statement of account for no balance due from us, smells fishy. read more

The staff are extremely helpful and willing to answer every question. I did feel like I had to be on guard when in back due to the extra procedures they want to do that insurance doesn't cover. I was informed if it would be extra. The glasses that my insurance would cover was such a small selection and too small for my head all others were priced at least twice my insurance limit and the lenses without insurance were twice the cost as the place we typically go to.
