Back in town after a few years, and I was so excited to hear that the owners of Fanoos Grill in Torrance had opened a Mediterranean/Mexican fusion restaurant. And it did not disappoint! The inside is so charming and the menu catches you by surprise! There is Persian style kabobs, different types of sandwiches/wraps, and pasta options! One of the things that caught my eye was the breakfast menu and I was so pleasantly surprised by the chilaquiles on the menu. I wish I had time to stop by for breakfast, but next time for sure! We recently moved to South Torrance and discovered Fabi's Grill. Food was delicious so we decided to ordere catering for my husband's birthday. I was able to connect directly with the owner Amir and we discussed the menu items and prices. He is very friendly and was able to give me a good price for order. We ordered Beef Koobideh, Chicken Kabob, Falafel, Rice, Salad and all the sides (Hummus, Tzatziki, Pita Bread, Tabouli and French Fries). Everyone loved the food and asked us where we had our meal catered from. I forgot to take pictures but everything was packaged nicely and looked delicious. First time here. I was still trying to figure out what to order when another customer came in and said he didn't like his food. "It tasted off". That's all the customer could say to the guy working the cashier. Eventually, they refunded the money back while the customer continued to tell them that the food isn't good. I ordered online about 5 o'clock on Sunday evening. When I got to the store 20 minutes later, no one had even looked at the order. Of the four things I ordered, they were out of three of them. They didn't have lamb, hummus, or baba ghanoush. I changed the order to get what they had, but the food was terrible. . The chicken was overcooked and dry the onions for the kebab were not cooked at all. The tabouli was mushy. The only thing that was OK was the salad. Very disappointed. Ordered one gyro plate combo with fries and hummus, and one chicken kebab plate with rice and hummus. Both plates come with mixed vegetables. The gyro was little strips of meat, dripping in oil, and seemed to be pre-shaped like chicken McNuggets and not carved fresh off a rotisserie. The chicken was very dry and tasted like nothing. The vegetables were slightly cooked but still kinda crunchy and dripping in oil. The fries were pretty good but definitely on the oily side. Rice was rather plain and the pita was unremarkable. The hummus is the worst part. I don't know why it has a weird gelatinous consistency and it sticks together like paste. It's also extremely bitter and leaves a bad aftertaste which stuck in my mouth for an hour. Although we ordered food for dine-in, it was still served in disposable plastic to-go containers with plastic utensils. Pay at the counter and preset tip option starts at 15%. There's also a 4% credit card fee for those of us who do not live in the 1800s. They do not have fountain drinks, only tap water from a countertop dispenser. The dining room was clean and nice in the front. In the back by the street there are a few more tables but the air is very stale back there. At least the service was friendly and prompt. read more

I realize that it's mediterranean fusion restaurant, but the best thing were the fries. They were super crispy and perfectly seasoned. Falafel Pita Wrap - the fries came with the wrap. The falafel were crispy and cooked well, but it was the feta that really made the wrap come alive - the feta added a great punch of flavor. Beef Shish Kabab Tortilla Wrap - overall, it was kind of plain. There was plenty of meat, lettuce, etc, but it was just okay flavor wise. Beek Koobideh a la parilla - the meat was kinda plain. Comes with 2 sides. Baba ganoush - got this as a side. Good size portion, but a very strange texture. Very thick, not like a dip at all. Kinda dry. Hummus - the other side. Good texture, had a slight bitter taste. Fabi's Fries - super decadent. Their very good fries topped with seasoned beef, loaded with caramelized onions, and drizzled with their dressing. It was completely empty on a weekend when we went which should have been our hint to leave. Most likely the owner who helped us. He was very sweet and willing to answer questions. We ordered the chicken kabob combo with hummus and rice and a lamb chop kabob meal with rice and fries. We got the simple sides in hopes our son would have some too. The hummus was absolutely disgusting, so bitter and nothing I added made it remotely better. Chicken was charred, but literally had black cancer char pieces on my rice and chicken. I dont want to feed that crap to a child. Lamb was okay, nothing great. Overpriced for the nasty taste of most of the meal. Service was the only redeeming quality. It was so looking forward to a good Mediterranean meal tonite with my family. We ordered four different plates pricing in range from $12-$18 a plate. Pretty pricey, but we decided it might be worth it. I should have gone to ralphs and gotten Uncle Ben's microwave rice, a Birds Eye steak bag of veggies (small bag) and steak ummms because that would have been better than this. The grilled veggies are loaded with onions and maybe 2 zucchini slices and a mushroom (see pics). The sauce is basically flavorless. The rice is microwaved and tasteless. The gyro sandwich is in a TORTILLA. I'm what planet is that a thing? Only 2 triangles of pita for each meal? Tzatziki is considered a side?? It's integral to a greek meal! Wtf? The gyro meat was preformed and not off a spit. Not what I'd pay $16 a plate for. And only 3 small slices, barely the size of a slice of spam. Inwill NEVER go here again. We spent almost $80 and it wasn't worth $20 of food collectively. Huge thumbs down. Huge no. And here are the responses the owner sent in messages to me. Pretty hostile. And to respond to their response- stop shaming me for being upset over 4 bad meals. You messaged me to bully me and instead got called out.
