We had the Brooklyn pizza and it was delicious and the leftovers were still good a few days later. Also have dined in twice and very pleased with the quality of the ingredients, the taste and quantity. I had a special "chicken sambuca" which was so unusual and yet simple and very pleasing. We also had the "alfredo" that was average and good. Both dishes were large and leftovers were great. Pleasant staff that try hard to please. This is a local bistro with a big heart. Try it. So rude!! Went in to book party of 10 girls, and the guy acted as if my business was a bother to him and refused to take the reservation and acted like it was too much stress to have more than one reservation per day. Stated that he could not tie up the restaurant as they had a reservation for 8 (different time) and just walked away from me. The girl at the counter was a little nicer and apologetic. I didn't realize that it was good business to turn away customers. Will never go back again. Crazy!! read more

Live in town so the place is convenient. It's spotlessly clean but the small dining area really needs some type of separation from the pick up counter. The food (without all the garlic) would be quite good. I find myself periodically ordering something and then once eaten, I regret it. If they would halt or at least ease up on the heavy hand of garlic, the food would be much better. read more

First let me say the place was neat and clean. The service and the food however was terrible. 1)We showed the waitress our coupon 1st which had multiple offers. The one we wanted to use said 20% off entrees. 2) We ordered fried calamari appetizer and two small salads. The waitress asked if we wanted the salad with the calamari, we said yes. The salads came out when we were almost finished the calamari. 3) One of our party was torn between the eggplant rollatini and the chicken parm. Since he couldn't decide which to get, he told the waitress he couldn't decide between the two, and asked her to decide which one for him and surprise him. He was served shrimp oreganata, where did that come from? 4) My sister ordered cavatelli with broccoli. The broccoli was so overcooked it was mush. The sauce was very lemony, which is not customarily how that dish is prepared. 5) I ordered linguine with white clam sauce, they had no linguine but served it with, way too al dente fettuccine. The sauce was very lemony; I've never had this dish anywhere with lemon. 6) My husband ordered the chicken parm. The fresh sauce on the spaghetti was tasty, the chicken not so much. 7) When drinks were refilled, they filled my husband's glass with my nephew's beverage and vice versa. 8) We were staggered to see the bill was $80+ dollars for a local pizzeria. They didn't take the discount off and seemed surprised when we mentioned the coupon. She took the bill back and credited us with the wrong coupon, 1/2 off one entree. We asked about the 20% and they said it wouldn't amount to as much of a discount, thinking the discount applied to only one entree, even though the coupon clearly stated entrees. 8) The coupon also said "free cannoli for dessert", when we asked about it the waitress said we had to ask for it. She brought us each out a mini cannoli, which wasn't a surprise since it was free. Although the staff was friendly and cheerful, they were clearly clueless. We will never go back again. It seems so many people rave about the pizza, but seeing what was sitting out waiting to be sold by the slice, I would never chance ordering it. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how great the pizza was tonight. I ordered a plain pie and one 1/2 pepperoni 1/2 sausage. It was absolutely delicious ! Cooked perfectly, crust was tasty and it was not really think. Not a thin crust pizza but not overly thick. The Brooklyn pizza ( square pie with fresh mozzarella on it and fresh basil was thin crust and looked delicious as well. I will be back next week ! I highly recommend them. read more

Fabio's Bistro in Fanwood has become one of my " go - to" stops. I know that I won't be disappointed when I go there. There is so much that's right about this place ....where do I start ? The food !!!! Through 30 or so visits I've yet to be disappointed . I've tried many different things off the menu and it's just one great dish after another. From the pizza , whether it's something traditional or something other, such as the Barbeque Chicken Pizza or the Brooklyn you can't go wrong. Not in the mood for pizza ?....No problem. A salad , perhaps ? The antipasto and chicken caesar salad are highly recommended. Chicken Parm....Vodka Sauce..Calzone....Eggplant Rollatine...Sausage and Peppers....Chicken Picata. The Gnocchi Sorentino and the Cavateli alla Fabio are my two favorites so far.I could go on and on....delicious soups and sandwiches too. Great food.....large portions at affordable prices . . Cannolis , zeppoles and Italian ice round things out nicely. Outstanding food teamed with friendly , efficient service make this a winner winner Italian dinner. All in all ; a very worthwhile stop. Well run by nice people. Located next to the train station in Fanwood. This is a small place with patio seating in the warmer weather. Plenty of parking available . Byob welcome. I had a problem with delivery. Never got the pizza. Called and spoke with manager then the owner. Both of them were very rude. First they told me I refused the pizza then they said no one was home. They said they would give a refund which they never did. Then the owner told me not to come back to his place. If I could give minus stars I would. Never going back. read more

Let me just start off by saying that I am a true customer to restaurants in the Fanwood-Scotch Plains-Plainfield-Westfield area. Each and every time I've come to this establishment I've only been disappointed further and further. As a mother of two, I hoped for my family to have a relaxing time and be treated well when we came to eat dinner. However, that was not the case. The waitresses were rude and unaccommodating to my children and their allergy to dairy. They were constantly giving me dirty looks when my 8 month old was having a crying fit. Even when I've come to pick up food for take-out I've felt very uncomfortable because of the older chef would stare blankly at me through the window. I've tried their Brooklyn pie a few times, but although I've asked them to cook it lightly, it always comes out burnt. Lastly, I do not approve of the obvious relationship between the owner and the younger blonde server, Tori. It makes me uncomfortable to see her and the owner canoodling in the back. I wish that there was a 1/4 star option. The 1/4 would be because of the drink selection. read more

Unfortunately I had a bad experience at fabios. I don't need to get into the misunderstanding about us saying delivery and food not coming and us having to then pick it up. I asked for the owner( only because 2 weeks ago they delivered and forgot part of our order again). His staff said he was too busy. It is called " service recovery, man". He came out and was nasty--- said I was wrong and he wouldn't discount because " HE works for a living for his 3 kids." He walked away from me. I threw down $40.00 on 38.00 bill and stormed out angry. So, it happens, right? No, I arrived home hours later to 3 missed calls at my home and a nasty message from the him. We were speechless. My phone kept ringing and I picked up. He yelled that I shorted him $10.00; seriously. He went on to say that I offended him???. I told him I felt harassed. If you are going to " work for a living" in the service industry; understand service. When you make a mistake; own it and move on. We all work hard. If he spent the time with me earlier as a business owner and "professional" versus the time he spent harassing me at my home like a scorned teenager this could have been avoided. The owner, John, of Fabio's confirmed my reservation for a birthday lunch for 12:30 pm for 19 girls to eat pizza on their outdoor patio. On three occasions i confirmed , I even arrived at noon to make sure he remembered that we were coming in a half hour . When we arrived, there was a large group in our seats. He would not ask them to move inside. I couldn't figure out why he wouldn't ask them to move, then they told me also took their reservation . There wasn't room for us to go inside nor would he allow us inside.When I went to pay and leave he stated "wow you really are mad" with a laugh. When I said yes,I was, he started yelling and screaming "that it wasn't a wedding hall and what did I expect? They ate didn't they . So what, they got to eat, ( they sat in the floor) that if I wanted my kid to have a birthday party, that we should have gone to chuck e cheese ". He is so rude and was yelling like he has some long standing issues. Since then, I have heard so many stories of how he has been mean, rude, and unwelcoming to families, especially those with kids. I don't believe our town should support his establishment with our business. We are a small town that's main priority is family. Go to Nick's Pizza instead. I wish I had for my daughters pizza luncheon. I knew that going in and should have listened to my instincts that John was a creep . Nick's values are what our town is about. read more
