I can see that there are a lot of positive postings for this shop. But, my experience with them was very different. I brought my car in because the air conditioner was no longer providing cooling. The car was run through "diagnostics" and it was determined that the needed repairs could cost up to $6,000, which was the value of the car. This shop then referred me to another shop that was "more capable of doing the repairs." The second shop also quoted up to $6,000 for the repair work. So, I took the car to a BMW dealer, and they fixed it for roughly $200. Most of the issues that this shop said were the cause of a lack of cooling did not exist, according to the BMW mechanic. As a twenty-something-year-old female that doesn't know much about cars, I feel like I was being taken advantage of...by both shops. It feels like there was collusion happening, and I'm glad that I did not agree to have the car repaired by either shop. We brought in our truck to get brakes and the valve covers done. Both were done incorrectly. We brought it back in to have the work redone with assurances from the owner Kent. Both problems are now worse, and parts of the suspension is now broken and it looks deliberate, and the rear differential now has a leak. The work was done by the owner Kent. Our AC stopped blowing cold recently. We just moved here to the area and were really worried about finding a good, reliable and honest auto shop like we had in the Bay Area for years. I brought my Jeep Renegade to them for a fan repair. with it having 196,000 miles I asked if they coils do a safety check. I didn't want to poor money into it if it was going to fail somewhere else. As it turns out my transmission was on its last leg. They could have easily had an $8,000 job from me. However, Kent advised not to pour any money into it. So thankful for the integrity. We live in the village and on occasion, have brought my wife's car to Kent to fix some issues. Most recently, she was having some issues with her battery and the car starting. Kent ran some diagnostic tests over night and determined that the battery was in good health and the issue was likely a small electronic piece attached to the battery. He could've replaced the battery for over $300, but instead, he replaced the small part quickly and got us on our way for under $80. Everything appears to be running great now. They are a huge help quick, responsive and did a great job. We had somebody try to steal our catalytic converter on one of our company cars on the Prius. Thankfully they didn't get it but they were about half a second away from completing the job. We brought it in they fixed it and put the protective shield on it so that it's less likely anyone will be able to try to steal it again. Owning a small business it's very difficult to be down a vehicle as we lose a whole days work. I can't think them enough for being quick and responsive to help us get it back on the road in one day. My car was over heating on my way to work. I chose to get it towed to nearest AAA shop and called to let them know it was on the way. Emily was very upfront with me and explained the cost of diagnostic which was a very average fee compared to others and said she would call me with updates. We spoke three times she is super friendly and informative in the end I had a cracked radiator, she was kind enough to inform me they would be closed through the weekend and unable to get to it till Monday and if I needed it done right away I should look around. I dropped her off with Emily, and the next day they were able to tell me exactly what was wrong, and how much to fix. Emily went over each item individually, and she not once tried to convince me to do a repair I couldn't afford. I had to deny once service because it was more than I had at the time, but she said ok, and we moved on. That was a fresh experience! I think I dealt with Kent and I can confidently say that my cars will always come here for service. My husbands car had a couple motor mount issues and Kent replaced the motor mount for us no problem. We had already replaced one with a friend but after another one had issues we brought the car here. A couple weeks after getting it fixed the shaking issue started again so we brought the car back. Turns out the initial part had collapsed and that was not uncommon for these parts. Kent didn't charge us to replace the part again. Dropping off the car is super easy too since there is an option to drop the keys in a slot ad leave the car at any time. read more

In the office you will hear them call customers by their title, "Mr. Lastname" or "Mrs. Soandso" and they remember you if you are a previous customer. They want you to come back so they are honest with you about what your car needs and they don't rip you off. I first spoke to Kent when I called in to inquire as to whether or not they could fix my car. Kent knew exactly what I was dealing with when I described what was wrong and prescribed a very good solution at a very affordable price. I was sold! Once they had made the repair they informed me of issues my car had that I was well aware of. I had been putting off the repairs but due to how honest and friendly Kent and Emily were, I really felt ready to take the plunge and I agreed to the repairs. I didn't tell them this, but I had been told I needed those same repairs as far back as Summer 2019 and I never did them, but the price estimate Emily gave me for the work was nearly $1.5k cheaper than what a Firestone and another mechanic had quoted me back in 2019. So, it was really a no brainer! What's more, they did a fantastic job with the repairs. My car feels great, better than it has in 5 or more years! Kent even gave me free brand new windshield wipers. After comparing several shops in the area, I found Kent at Fair Oaks auto to be the most honest of them all. He breaks down the cost of parts vs labor on his estimates, which is how I realized other shops were trying to take advantage of customers by marking up the price of parts. They talk the talk but no way do they walk the walk. I don't think they have any understanding of how to repair import cars. I'm still being held hostage by their ongoing repair costs. I brought my smooth running car in for some minor repairs and now $4,000 later it still is not street worthy and cannot be driven out of the shop. This is an update to the above review. In other words Part II. I sought the services of an intermediary concerning my less than desirable experience with Fair Oaks Auto Repair. That person and Omar Carrasco worked together to come up with a resolution that was acceptable to all parties concerned. Work was redone and this time without a hitch. This time around Omar had much more input which was to our betterment and satisfaction. He conducted himself with absolute total professionalism. It is my opinion that Omar could step into a position as a Service Manager at a high-end auto dealership in a heartbeat. He is truly the "nuts and bolts" of Fair Oaks Auto Repair. Epilog I would recommend diligent customers to visit Fair Oaks Auto Repair and confer with Omar Carrasco concerning their needed auto maintenance and/or repairs. Current update: Omar left this shop over a year ago and it has gone downhill ever since. I have had warranty work done there and it was like pulling teeth. The same part that was replaced twice keeps failing. I finally took the car to a dealer to have the repairs done correctly. John, the owner needs to retire and close the shop for good.
