    Mildew and cracked surfaces

This place is so gross. What you could you improve? Maybe the mildew and mold in the suite bathrooms! The breakfast and coffee was terrible. The service was horrible. We asked for fresh bath towels and were given 3 gym towels that are half the size of a bath towel since housekeeping was too busy. I I've attached photos of the bathroom "renovation"

I expected better from a Marriott level hotel. Rooms and lobby were clean and well maintained. They charge $15 a day for parking for no reason at all other than greed, the Holiday Inn just a half block down the road has free parking. Also, the breakfast was only okay and didn't have so many items. They ran out of plates and bowls and took forever to make the morning coffee (there were probably 10 people standing around waiting for coffee and basic plates). The Holiday Inn down the road is cheaper, better quality and no charge for parking. I would rather stay there next time and will tell others to do the same.

I arrived around 4pm. Exterior looked nice, as did the lobby area. Check in was easy. But then I was asked if I was parking a car. Yes. So apparently there's a $10 charge. Not sure why - there seems to be no one checking vehicles. And there are several businesses that share the massive, sprawling parking lot. I asked the lady checking me in about simply parking a few spaces away from the hotel. Her reply is they don't own those spaces. Okay - well, you're claiming you're not responsible for my vehicle, so I might as well just park there and save $10. Though I chose not to fight it and I paid the fee. Felt very nickel and dimed. The floors and room seem dated. Hallways reminded me of a dorm. There was a musty smell in the room. Lights were off, but the TV was on. Normally the room is lit at night to welcome you. I came downstairs to ask about food or any restaurants within walking distance. The only walkable option is a "sports bar" next door. They apparently have odd hours so they weren't sure if it was open. I walked across the parking lot and inside. It's a dive bar. Not sure the quality of the food. So this is bad when you have to drive to grab a bite - except for the hotel's complimentary breakfast. Doesn't remind me of a Marriott property. Though I need just two more hotel stays before the end of the year to move from Silver to Gold Elite for the Bonvoy app. And this was the least expensive, nearby option. I can understand why. But it served its purpose.

Bloody linen, housekeeping recirculated this blanket and I slept in it!!! ewwwww

So disappointed in their customer service. They gave me blood stained sheets and I slept with them..super gross! I noticed the stain in the morning as I was folding blankets. I reported it to the front desk and they apologized and within the hour they charged me $85 for the damages!!!! After I reported it?? wtf! When I called them, they were so rude and accused me of staining the sheets because I didnt report it upon check in, however I came in late from an expo and was so tired I just went to bed. They just treated me like I was lying and said the blood was recent. ugh so disgusted with this experience and how they treated me. I emailed the manager and she said that she herself Pauline General Manager inspected it and it was a fresh blood stain. However i took a picture of it and its clearly an old stain!!!! I felt crazy! I emailed Teresa and Pauline the managers and both accused me! So embarrassing..I asked if I could have the linen so I can swab it and they conveniently through it away. They denied me a refund and super accused me of body fluids coming from me without proof!!!! about the place.. The over all appearance is decent and looks good but once you start looking deeper, you will see the flaws. Shouldnt be connected to the Marriott family. Breakfast, powdered eggs are cold, hard boiled eggs are old, not much of a continental breakfast. save your money! The water never got hot in the shower, trash bins had no bags, sheets looked old and blood stains! carpet was stained too! DO NOT STAY HERE! and they charge parking when its free a few feet away. You can stay somewhere else thats just as affordable and they wont accuse you of blood stains that their own housekeeping erroneously recirculated!

Gap under our hotel room door
    Allison P.

This hotel was very clean with staff members actively cleaning most hours of the day. We were able to control the air conditioning in our room and turn it off completely if we wanted. My only concern was that there was a gap under the room door. I didn't feel very comfortable leaving the room unattended as someone could have gotten in very easily.

Not following city or county ordinance regarding the use of styrofoam and single use plastics!!!

Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Camarillo is an okay budget stay. But a couple negatives overshadow anything good. They charge $10 to park even if you are a LIFETIME TITANIUM BONVOY MEMBER. This is crazy. Especially when you can park just a few spaces down for free. Yes it's the principle of the thing. Where's the perks anymore for being a loyal member for decades? And the biggest disappointment is the use of styrofoam, plastic ware and plastic cups!! Ventura County and the City of Camarillo has banned this but Marriott seems to think they are above the law??!! So so disappointed in you Marriott. Saddened to think of our loyalty to you for years but you do not care about Mother Earth and the environment! EPS BAN Effective January 1, 2022, the City of Camarillo will prohibit the use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) food and beverage containers, furthering the City's goal of providing cost-effective, efficient services while minimizing impacts on the environment. https://www.ci.camarillo.ca.us/business/eps_ban.php

I was looking for a hotel this day and the Camarillo area. I am coming out here more often for work and I've stayed at a few other places already and so far this is my favorite place. I think it's property is a relatively new but it is in the middle of nowhere meaning that everything that I wanted to go to were a couple of freeway exits away. It wasn't too bad since the hotel was right off the freeway. The room that I was in was really nice. I've stayed at other Fairfields Inns before and this was the nicest one by far. I believe I was upgraded to a nicer room too so this may not have been the standard set up. What I really liked is the water pressure from the showers. That was amazing and I can't emphasize that enough. The shower themselves were a tad narrow too but the water pressure is something I can't forget. The beds were really great as well and that was a great feature. There is breakfast downstairs in the lobby area. I never actually made it down there since I had leftovers from earlier. I had a fridge and a tiny microwave in my room and was able to store and also heat up my food after. I believe there's plenty of parking in the back of the hotel. The front tends to have a few limited spots and also with a bar and other businesses that share the lot it may be hard to get a spot out in front.

Nice view of a tall pine tree from our window

We have stayed at this Fairfield Inn in Camarillo twice now, the most recent time being this past weekend. For us the location is excellent as we have relatives in the Camarillo area, and on both occasions we have found our stay here to be very comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located right off the 101 freeway. Our room on the third floor was on the opposite side of the hotel away from the freeway, facing the parking lot, and we had zero traffic noise. On our previous stay back in December we had a room facing the freeway and I don't recall traffic noise being an issue on that side either. I preferred the parking lot side as we actually had a nice view of a tall pine tree right outside our window. While I can't speak of the other rooms as I believe we were upgraded due to our Bonvoy status, the one we were assigned was large and very nicely appointed. The Simmons Beauty Rest (yes- we looked) king mattress was extremely comfortable. Using the Marriott app, we had requested in advance two extra pillows and were happy to find those waiting for us along with the four others on the bed. The pillows, too, were very comfortable - neither too soft nor too hard as is often the case with hotel pillows. We both slept very well. The dresser was adequate as was the small desk for getting some work done. The room was also furnished with a queen-size sofa that had a pull-out bed, I'm guessing for parents who might have one or two children they wish to be in the room with them. In front of the sofa was a coffee table. The closet was on the small side, with barely enough room to hang a couple of suits, but should be adequate for a short-term traveler. In the closet was a full-size ironing board and iron. Sliding the closet door to one side revealed the coffee bar with a small coffee maker, ice bucket and microwave. While there were two coffee pods enough for just two cups of coffee and no tea bags, tea bags were available in the lobby along with coffee urn and hot water urns. Not sure if these are 24-hours, but they were available each time we passed by during the day. Under the coffee bar in the room is a small refrigerator. Unfortunately the refrigerator was not functioning, which we made the front desk aware of when we left. It's really something that should be checked by housekeeping as part of their regular rounds, so that was a bit of a disappointment. The bathroom was large and comfortable and it is furnished with two large mirrors: one over the sink in the commode area and another near the bathroom door that comes with a bench for performing tasks in front off a mirror that might require one. There were more than enough soft towels. The shower is on the narrow side, making it less than ideal for a "full-size" adult, but it was okay, with good water pressure coming through the water-saving shower head. The sink in the bathroom drained very slowly, which we also let the front desk know upon checking out. You need to be careful not to place your finger near the top of the faucet where it meets the bottom of the mirror (again- see attached photo of the bathroom sink where this will hopefully make sense). Not sure how my finger wound up in that position when trying to control the water flow, but I got it jammed in that small space between the top of the faucet lever and the bottom of the mirror when lifting the faucet lever up and did a nice job smashing my finger (insert a major "ouch!" here). The bars of hand soap that hotels give you for the sink seem to get smaller and smaller, but we travel with our own bar soap so for us this wasn't an issue for us. The AC worked well and was fairly quiet. Our room was equipped with two television sets: one above the dresser facing the bed and the other above the desk, which could be viewed when sitting on the sofa. While I appreciate the convenience of having the two sets depending on where you want to be watching TV from in the room, we found controlling them individually very frustrating, as we did on our last visit as well. A single remote control works with both TV's. When we went to turn one off, the other would go on and vice versa. At one point, the TVs were on two different channels and we had to mute the sound on one in order to watch the other because we found it difficult to turn one off without the other going back on again. It would be helpful if they had detailed printed instructions in the rooms equipped with two TV's on how two operate them individually. The included breakfast buffet was more than adequate with a choice of cold cereals, scrambled eggs, some sort of pre-packaged quiche, an egg-mcmuffin type breakfast sandwich, hard-boiled eggs, muffins, bananas, and a selection of juices. The hotel has an outdoor pool as well as a small exercise room. Parking is free. Even with the very few aforementioned relatively minor drawbacks, we find this Fairfield Inn to be a clean, comfortable place to stay and will definitely consider it for our next visit.

The worst check in experience ever between the front girl and the manager. Nobody knows what they're doing. It took me an hour to check in.

I booked a two-bedroom unit through the Marriott website, with each bedroom having its own vanity and full bath. The apartment had a living room and a fully equipped kitchen, including a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A few days before our stay, I called with some questions and was glad to speak directly with the onsite staff instead of a call center. The front desk team was friendly and helpful both over the phone and in person. Upon arrival, check-in was quick and easy. Despite what must be a high guest turnover, the apartment was clean and well maintained. The carpets were free of stains. Despite a few minor scuffs, the furniture was clean and in good shape. The refrigerator and microwave were clean and odor-free. The hotel also serves a simple breakfast each morning, with hot options like waffles, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and oatmeal, plus cold items like yogurt, cereal, fruit, and breads, along with coffee, tea, and juices.

Check in was quick and easy. The front desk receptionist, who I assume was fairly new, was really nice! I requested a late check out and she gave us an extra hour which was super helpful after a long day before our departure. Later that night, the water machine had to be refilled and she offered us 2 free water bottles instead of having us wait. Really nice! The jacuzzi was a pleasant surprise. The room was clean and VERY spacious... the pillows were also comfortable! One thing I would recommend they do is, ensure that the alarm clocks are reset/turned off before a new guest checks in. The alarm did wake us up at around 7 am, we never set it! The housekeepers and the staff were also very nice :) The breakfast was a hit as well! They had plenty of options AND a cool pancake machine! Lastly, I want to shout them out for having a non dairy milk option. I have never seen that at any other hotel, so I'm also upset given I'm allergic to milk. That was great! Thank you, would recommend

The room did not have an odd or strong chemical smell. The room came with a TV, coffee maker, safe, mini fridge and microwave; all in working conditions. Water pressure was great. The only complaint was in another room that we got moved to - because we decided to extend last minute, some of the usb outlets were not working. Other than that, the room fit all our needs for our trip. The amenities include a pool, hot tub, breakfast, wifi, gym and a guest laundry. They do sell some OTC medications, snacks and microwaveable foods next to the front desk and they call it "the market". Very convenient. SERVICE: The service is what led me to give a 5 star. The room itself would have been a 3-4 star but the service was great. This branch had amazing staff who greeted you with a smile from the lobby, breakfast bar or just simply in the hallways. We felt so welcomed which made the experience even better. The front desk agents were knowledgeable and super accommodating to our questions or requests. The staff that helps prep the breakfast bar were so attentive and was even willing to wait after we're done with our plates. Quick service with refills and clean up. Just top notch service. Overall, the service at this place set a standard for other similar hotels or other Holiday Inn hotels. Plenty of parking in a well lit lot. The amenities and the room were reasonable for the price. I would definitely stay at this branch again whenever I'm in the area visiting family.

Unfortunately, that level of service did not continue throughout our stay. While I'll be leaving a separate review for Ox & Ocean, our dining experience there was disappointing and involved long waits, food quality issues, and multiple billing errors that took significant time to resolve. Unfortunately, the billing issues did not stop there. Upon reviewing our folio, we discovered valet parking charges despite self-parking for the entirety of our stay. When I called to question the charge, I was told a "gentleman" had provided my room number. This was a girls' trip--there was no gentleman in our group. Even more frustrating was being told it was "only a $5 difference." Incorrect charges are incorrect charges, regardless of the amount. On checkout day, we were awakened at 7:30 AM by someone knocking repeatedly on our door despite having a Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed. When I answered, I was asked whether we had requested baggage assistance. We had not. The pool area also seemed understaffed. The chair numbering system intended to help staff locate guests appeared ineffective, and there were extended periods where no pool towels were available. I watched several guests ask staff where towels could be found, only to discover the stations were empty. Staff would apologize but no solution was offered. I eventually had to pull towels from unused reserved cabanas because none were available elsewhere. The biggest disappointment is that none of these issues were related to the property itself. The hotel is beautiful, the room was great, and the spa was phenomenal. Our massages were incredible, and every member of the spa team was kind, professional, and welcoming. Unfortunately, repeated service failures, billing mistakes, and poor follow-through overshadowed what could have been a great stay. A luxury hotel should not require guests to spend hours of their vacation correcting billing errors, tracking down servers, and chasing management for answers.
