This place is just so cute! The nice gentleman who works here was very accommodating. Although he was working alone and had a few tables to wait on he was very quick with getting to us! I just loved the cozy little place! We ordered off the happy hour menu at first and got chicken strips and cheese sticks and they were excellent! I love soup so I got the French onion soup and let me tell you it was literally the best French Onion soup I've ever had! I even ended up ordering it for room service again! Oh man the chef really flavors and hooks it up! The cheese is so yummy and those onions were just delicious! Honestly I wish I could find such a place here in Cali! I could eat that soup everyday and with it starting to get cold here it's the ultimate comfort food! Hats off to this place! read more

Lounge says open until 2am, last night (Friday) at 1:30am we were told that it had closed hours prior. Fine. The shower water pressure left plenty to be desired and beds were firm with firm thickly stuffed pillows. The property seemed mostly clean however there is an overwhelming sweet sprayed fragrance which seems to suggest a mightily bad odor is being covered up to necessitate that fake sicky sweet scent in such vast quantities. Also the toilet in this room is ridiculous, I guess if you like sitting side saddle it's great, they couldn't have fit it any closer to the wall; it flushes about as well as the shower runs. For a hotel set up to display Ethan Allens design prowess they are struggling to say the least. We'll be returning to Hyatt house in fishkill for the remainder of our stays. The televisions seem not to have remotes that work and when you can get them to function it takes quite some time between channels for it to display anything. read more

There are a lot of mixed reviews here and I just don't get the haters because we thought the Ethan Allen was a great hotel. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon in May and checked into a King Size Suite for 120USD/night. The room came with a large sitting area (big enough to host a pre-game), Not 1, but 2, flat screen TV's, complementary hi-speed internet, and a plush, comfortable bed. We attended a Quinceanera in one of the hotel banquet rooms. We had such a great time there! The food was excellent, especially the steak, which I couldn't get enough of! Service was spectacular! The manager was visible all night, meeting all our needs, and exceeding all our expectations. I definitely recommend The Ethan Allen Hotel for a party or a quiet evening getaway! read more

We enjoyed wonderful appts (I enjoyed a wonderful shrimp cocktail), unique & tasty entrees (I had NY Strip cooked to perfection) ....the service team was very attentive and really took great care of us. This isn't your parents 1980's restaurant or bar anymore - 21 Lake has a new look, great energy and karma - in a relaxed hometown setting. Suggest you give it a try! You know how hotel bars go. A few friendly tenders to get you basic drinks, some comfy seating, a DJ in the corner to provide some music. I must say that the music was a tad too loud for a hotel bar, especially seeing as how every single patron had just emerged from the boisterous wedding reception that took place across the hall. A big thank you to the bartender. I got my tab at the end of the night, noticed there were two pricey drinks that I simply did not order, and she removed them, no questions asked. That's the kind of thing that can often cause problems at bars, and she made a point of it to make it a non-issue. Her 50% tip was certainly earned. Four days, and three nights of conferences, and the high point was the consistently good food at the Fairfields Lounge. Breakfast was always good--a wide selection of meats, fruit, breads, and side dishes capped off by endless cups of good coffee. Dinners were served to our group buffet style, but were nonetheless excellent. The variety of dishes offered was good, and the quality of the food was excellent. The salad bar was fresh and varied, the vegetable dishes were great, the three chicken dishes were interesting and well-prepared, and the soups were incredible. The only item that didn't stand up to the chafing dishes was the flank steak--it was good, but that's a hard thing to keep tender over steam! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area, not just hotel guests. read more

Returned to Fairfields having read about their dinner specials in the paper. This was on a recent "rainy" night (as we haven't seen the sun in weeks..) to check out "Pasta Wednesdays" as advertised. This special is not to disappoint. Choice of a Garden or Caesar Salad and a choice of 4 pasta dinner entrees for only $10.95. The dishes were outstanding, and the server (Sanso?) was delightful, recommending a great Cabernet to accompany our meal. You can't beat the great food, price and service. read more

OMG. What a horrible Mother's Day Brunch. 1st when we got there on time they had given our table away. So instead of giving us a table that was already set they had us stand next to an unset table while they set it. I went to speak with the manager. We were there with 2 elderly people, 1 three year old and pregnant me. When we finally were given a table we were not given anything to drink. It was like you were bothering them for a glass of water. Plates piled up with no one clearing them. At one point there were no servers in the area at all. So if the service was so bad you would at least think the food would be great. Nope. The pastas were dry, The meats were dry, The bread and desserts were day old. They ran out of shrimp, most desserts, salad, cucumbers. Needless to say we will not be back anytime soon. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere. read more

Great value for a little local getaway. I took my wife here when we got a sitter for the weekend. The hotel was fine, slight little minor things wrong like the bulb was burned out on one of the lamps in the room, and 1 of the TV's (we were in a junior suite) remote sucked. The bed was SOOOO comfortable I cannot say that enough. The water pressure was mediocre as was the "breakfast buffet" they charge you $14 a head for. We might possibly go back because we had fun and it was close to home yet far enough away that we felt we were 'away for the weekend' even though the neighborhood sucked, it is located right off I84. How people gave this place 5 stars I don't understand. I went here for brunch on Sunday with a dear friend and it was terrible. Lots of choice but nothing I had (except the scone) was any good. My friend said the orzo salad was good. The lamb was dried out and very very fatty. In the mixed vegetables the string beans were not cooked through, the dessert cakes were banal. The bacon was crispy and I regretted that I didn't decide to just have an omelette. I was so sorry we decided to go there. read more

We went for brunch with a group of friends. YELP is wrong because they are open on Sundays. It's a nice, clean place. The options are a touch limited but its decent brunch food but not all items were cooked well. They dohave a staff member creating personalized omlets. The wait staff is clean in appearance but not very attentive at all. We were offered coffee quietly and individually but nothing else was offered and if you wanted anything but water, you had to flag someone to get it. However, they took only a single order and ran off not offering anyone else a chance to order juice or soda. I would return there because there is such a lack of good old fashion country brunches in this area. Aka biscuits and gravy, grits, other other traditional brunch items. read more

Horrible. So.... we checked in and we were given keys to a room that already had people in it. So back to the front desk and given keys that didn't work. Back to the front desk again. This time the keys worked and we were given coupons for free breakfast buffet. Nice right? The breakfast sucked. Eggs weren't good at all. Just not good. Frozen food fiasco! It took 20 minutes for the bread basket to come out and the rolls were frozen in the middle! Then it took 25 minutes for the crab cake and French onion soup out. Avoid this restaurant. It's priced like a good restaurant, with most entrees in the low to mid $20s, but the food is below the quality of an average diner, and the staff tries to compensate for this by resorting to petty deception (attempting to charge for an unacceptable dish). My wife and I realized our mistake when the appetizers arrived. The menu is too fancy for the kitchen's abilities - they can't pull off dishes like a fried goat cheese salad, with breading being lumpy and slightly burned. Even the ingredients were suspect - a sliced pear was soggy and mushy, and candied walnuts in a salad, which you would think would be hard to mess up, tasted unpleasant. The real problem started with the main course, though. A dish that was billed as a shrimp scampi with spinach was only recognizable by its ingredients, not its taste, which was a sour off-taste, as though something had curdled. The spinach was black and slimy - I seriously doubt that it had started out as fresh or good quality. I sent the scampi back, telling the waiter I thought it tasted weird. I didn't order anything else because I didn't trust the kitchen by that point. The waiter came back and offered us a free dessert or drink, which I declined. As we suspected, it turns out that the free offer had a string attached anyway - the bill came and the scampi was still on it, which was not a mistake. On disputing that, we were told that the chef had tried the dish and thought it was fine. At any normal restaurant in this price range, sending a dish back would get it taken off the bill, no questions asked, and possibly some concerned questions about what was wrong. Here, the staff did nothing but try to defend the dish and their own behavior all the way up the line. Even our waiter (who was apparently also the maitre d') claimed to have tasted the dish and didn't see a problem. They did take the dish off the bill, but given the poor quality of food and service here, I can only recommend avoiding this restaurant. It would need a complete overhaul to fix its problems. read more

WORST HOTEL EVER! I was having remodeling done at my house so I checked into Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury for what was supposed to be 4 nights, in one of their suites. I checked in the afternoon of Feb 3, 2017 and was going to stay until Feb 7. The first night was OK but the following afternoon (Saturday) the smell of second hand tobacco was overwhelming. Not only was my suite non-smoking but the entire floor was supposed to be. The entire suite smelled like one giant ashtray. My throat closed up and I developed a cough that I could not get over. I thought the smell would go away but it did not. I stayed Saturday night but by late afternoon on Sunday I couldn't take it anymore and checked out. I complained to the desk clerk when I checked out and asked her to pass it on to her management. I received a call on my voice mail from the manager several days later and called her back - never heard from her. Whether they were doing their own remodeling, or whether it was other guests, or the staff smoking, this was unacceptable and unhealthy. WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN! read more

We travel coast to coast and border to border; this one ranks in the top two of our favorite restaurants. Restaurant and hotel are both excellent and are moderately priced. Excellent value. The Ethan Allen hotel is like your home away from home. The rooms are great, they have a nice sitting area and a separate bed area, which is great for business travel. This can't be understated, but the bed is the most comfortable I have EVER spelt in and the pillows are magical. I want all of the room furniture in my house, since it's not your typical hotel pieces in the best way possible. I loved that I could adjust the temp in my room (after my last hotel stay) and had a very pleasant evening. The rooms are quiet and I didn't hear anything from either neighbor. Figuring out the shower and temps is a little tricky the first time, but that has to be why they have instructions right in the bathroom. Also, the hair dryers are a little dated, I would bring my own during my next stay.The breakfast in the morning is a great perk and quite tasty. The hotel staff is amazing and everyone was super friendly. I can't wait for my next stay! read more
