I like Mediterranean food and falafel corner is about as close as you can get sometimes. However, the food here is not worth the price tag. The fries portion was very small, miserly in fact, and the main I ordered was swimming in garlic sauce with very little salad to compliment it as shown in the images. The amount of chicken was generous, though. As for gyro meat? There isn't any. It seems to be more like burger meat chopped into pieces. The guy working here was ok, but he definitely erred on the side of blunt / disinterested. The place was clean and the kitchen area is totally visible which is always cool. Had a burger and fries. For Rancho they make a decent burger and the fries are usually spot on, hot and fresh, slightly crisp. Remind a bit of old McDonalds fries. Price was decent and service was fast. What's hard to see is how dirty it is behind the counter. It is pretty noticeable. Dining room could use some clean up too. No ice in the soda machine today. Was there at lunch a few times. Business seems much slower than you would expect. I would hope owner sees the repeated comments about the cleanliness and does something about it. Got a nice place. I used to think highly of Falafel Corner...from the time I started going to their Folsom location (which closed up), up to the time I learned that they opened a location just a block or two away from my place! But, my oh my! How the mighty have fallen! I last ordered food for me and my wife - our go-to was always the Gyro Platter. What we received was a far cry from what was before... The gyro slices were thin and far few in between! The hummus was thinly slapped in one compartment of the takeaway container! I know that the times have been hard and that businesses have to adjust in order to survive - but to reduce the quantity while increasing the price...? Seems a bit of an odd move to do in order to survive. I am willing to pay any price more to support the business, but to reduce the content? I find that extremely unacceptable. This place is almost like a fast food place for Mediterranean food (and some American), but the quality of food is always fresh and tastes healthy. It's tucked in a corner next to Starbucks and has a small amount of seating. My order always comes out quickly and it always tastes good. Stopped by for lunch to go and was met by a rude staff member. I should have walked out. The female staff member was friendly but the chicken gyro was terrible and not worth the 20+ minute wait. The flavors were okay. There was really nothing special that made it stand out though. The wrap was basic in that it had onions, tomatoes, lettuce, chicken and some sauce. I also asked to include fries with all 3 orders and added 2 sides which was hummus and a pita bread, when I had opened the bag there was only one order of fries and 2 missing order of fries, it was a little disappointing since I paid for them and did not get it in the order. Falafel Corner is always a safe choice if you don't know what to eat! The portions are huuuuge. I generally can save one combo platter for 2 meals! I especially like their tzatziki sauce here compared to other restaurants. I do think they go a bit *too* heavy on the sauce, but I acknowledge I generally like my food less saucy than others. My least favorite item on the plate is their hummus, sadly. The hummus feels a bit too thin in texture and lacking in a strong flavor. Falawful corner! I can't believe this place has good reviews. I visited this restaurant because I had seen it quite a few times and decided to give it a chance. I've really enjoyed a lamb gyro in the past. Honestly, this was anything but lamb. I asked them what kind of meat was in it, and they said it was a beef lamb mixture. It tasted falawful!! I was constantly spitting out hard pieces of cartilage and could not even finish eating the wrap. Although it looked very pretty, it did not taste that good at all. I also bought their baklava. Inexpensive but good quality food. I was more impressed with this food than the Mediterranean food I tried in Orangevale called Kolbeh Kabob. (Dine in restaurant) I can't speak highly enough about the taste of the food at this place. If you want bang for your buck then definitely go here. Usually this is my go-to place for relatively quick and tasty lunch vs fast food. Service is usually quick and even faster if you order ahead. I can never choose between gyro or chicken platter so I get the combo but I've had the wraps and falafel before which are both good for lunch. Usually there's ample meat and a balance of sauce/etc. The only complaint is this time there was a lot of sauce and rice but seemingly little meat. It was still tasty but just wasn't what I was used to. My pita also seemed a bit stale which isn't the norm. I hope next time will be better. read more

The issue with this spot is the cleanliness. My husband and I used to come here monthly but we just visited a couple weeks ago and the restaurant was disgustingly dirty. The soda machine was extremely sticky and the drain was gross, the tea machine next to it was disgusting as well. It seems they hadn't cleaned these things in days, lett's not even think about how nasty the spouts are. The counter behind the pastries had crumbs all along the counter top. All of these things should be wiped down multiple times I a day. The food was good but after seeing the filth, I honestly lost my appetite. I wouldn't even visit this location again just because of how nasty the counters and soda machines are. If it looks that dirty in the customers view, I hate to even think what the kitchen looks like. All I can say is GREEK PIZZA. There many places to get amazing Mediterranean food or great pizza in Sac, but this is only place I've found where you can get all those delicious spices and Greek flavors baked on a pizza.
