Downtown Hayward seems in transition. On a Sunday it seemed sleepy with not too much open. Falafel flare was one of them! Nice spacious place. The space seems bigger than they are equipped to handle since there are not as many tables. The people there were helpful and friendly. You can order at the kiosk or with the cashier so we opted with the cashier. We had the mango lasse and chicken kabob plate. The kabob plate had enough to feed both of us. The chicken was about average in terms of flavor and tenderness. The rice was the standout. It was full of flavor, maybe from the chicken on top. Having warm pitas was nice too. The price was a little high but the portion was reasonable. Mango lasse was a disappointment, small and didn't seem particularly fresh to us. This is not close to us and we wouldn't go out of our way to visit again unless we were in the hood. Still, pretty solid, and while we were there they had a steady trickle of people. read more

Fully halal menu which is great for those with dietary restrictions! My table ordered 3 things, Philly gyro wrap, Texas burger, and kids nuggets and fries. I think the burgers are much better than the wraps. The burgers have a toasted bun that gives it a good crunch. The gyro philly was good but I felt like it was lacking a lot of onion and bell pepper. There were many bites that were just gyro alone. The nuggets and fries are pretty basic and good for kids. I plan to try a few alternatives when I go back, likely a burger, perhaps a quesadilla, and maybe another side. They do have several Afghan platters that seem like they would be good but I think I would mainly go here for the burgers. It's a confirmed halal place and is set on the one way stretch of Mission. There is a few picnic tables outside and plenty of seating inside. I got the chicken kabob entree. It comes over rice with salad, hummus, pita bread and some delicious sauces that I don't know what they're called. The green one was amazing! Slight spice but big on spices. Delicious. The chicken was the best part. It took about 20 minutes to make, but worth the wait. Tender and steaming hot, the chicken was full of flavors and spices. Perfect with the rice and hummus. I didn't want the plate to end. I tasted the lamb from my boyfriends wrap, tender and also full of flavor. I don't like lamb much but thought it tasted good. The yogurt sauce was also bomb. I mixed it with everything. We also tried a couple of the baklava. Very sweet, the chocolate one was good. Pistachio was the only flavor option and my boyfriend doesn't eat nuts. So he ate the top half of it and I ate the bottom part with the nuts on it. It was still delicious. They give you a number and you wait at the table. Then they bring the food to you. The food arrived steaming and fresh. I am rarely in this area and may never make it back. I have really loved their bacon burger when they were falafel flame and even as falafel flare. The patty is just perfect and the sauce they have is yummy. It's that juicy burger you see on ads and crave. That said my husband and I ordered a burger and side on onion rings to share and were supremely disappointed to see only 6 onion rings. We paid about $1 per onion ring....I feel pretty cheated. I know we are all fighting the inflation but I think at least 8 would have been more appropriate. The lamb kebab plate was 25$ after tax and for 25$ you get a plate of rice, 4 pieces of lamb kebab, some plain salad, naan, a cup of tzatziki, and a cup of harissa. For 25$, the plate does not excel in taste or quantity, You get only 4 pieces of lamb kebab when past images show that there were more. In addition, the lamb doesn't even taste fresh or like lamb. It is cooked dry and you could basically just substitute steak and it'd be the same. They also have a large parking lot so that you don't need to worry about finding street parking. I ordered a gyro wrap and also got a complimentary baklava for checking in on Yelp. Very nice big inside. Very clean. The guy who greeted me helped me on what i should order since I was very indecisive. I ordered the jumbo Gyro i believe that's the name. It was a mix of gyro beef / lamb and also chicken. It was amazing together and i honestly might go back today before I leave Hayward to try it again. That's how good it was. I also tried the ice cream in the freezer it was so good. Since trying this I'm really going to be open to trying other places as well to get different foods. He doesn't mind answering your questions. Mind you, the menu doesn't have descriptions, so ask away. I've been here 3 times. The last 2 were within the last week. I'm in love with the Flame burger- 2 burger patties, an egg, Swiss and American cheese, mayo, thousand island, lettuce, tomato and red onion. The hamburger patties are generously seasoned and all the flavors come together so well. Don't worry, it's not overly sauced. AND they toast the buns. This has become my new favorite burger. The curly fries are crispy and highly recommended. Buffalo wings are standard. The baklava was an absolute delight. Hummus is great, too. The lamb plate was pretty decent.
