Wow. We just had one of the finest meals at Falafal Flame. We were passing through Tracy, on our way to Southern California. We decided to give the Lamb Kabaob entree a try. Every thing on the plate was cooked to perfection. The guys that run Falafal Flame were attentive and kind. We live in wine country with many high end restaurants. We were in the area coming back from a vacation and decided to stop for food. From the outside the place doesn't look like much, but the food speaks for itself. We got an order of falafel (it's in the name) and we're not disappointed. The food came to the table hot, and we could tell it was fresh out of the fryer. Our meals followed shortly after and we quickly dove in. The taziki was flavorful and completed the hot sauce the provided with the gyro.The staff was very nice and helpful providing napkins and other services. I had a combo kebab (chapli and chicken). It was juicy, tender, and very flavorful. I also had a falafel wrap which was very yummy. It was better than expected. Their baklava was very nice but I think it could be nicer if they start serving it wamer with ice cream. Overall, it is a great place to eat. I have been 3 times now and am completely addicted the the wonderful flavors from Falafel Flame. The Combo Platter is huge and delicious. Comes with perfect hummus and rice and even the salad is good. The burger is the best, we will always come here for a burger, with the yummy sauce. The baba ganoush is unique yet so good, I can't stop eating it! The falafel is not the very best we've had, but certainly not the worst. We reorder it every time. Friday evenings my family and I like to support local restaurants in town. Yesterday we decided to order food from Falafel Flame. After reading all the great reviews, my husband and I decided we would go there to order. We walked in and we told the gentleman behind the counter, that this was our first time there. I ordered 2 falafel platters and a falafel wrap. He kept asking me if I wanted a combo platter, I said the falafel platter, which I repeated several times. Anyway, he rings me up $45.35 ( a little expensive I thought, but ok). It was a little nippy do we went to sit in our car, as he said it was going to be 15 mins. He was kind enough to actually bring the food to our car, which we thought was very kind. Not thinking about it and wanting our food to still be hot, we headed home, which is 15 minutes away. We reach home and I start to distribute the food, to find we had been given 2 gyro plates. So off course at first we thought we had someone else's order, so we called right away. The guy tells my husband, that is what you ordered. My husband said, no, we ordered 2 falafel plates and a wrap. The gentleman told us to go back and he will remake our order. Get to the store and mind you there are several customers there. He starts telling us, that we ordered incorrectly and that he had to toss the food away. We apologized and said, we didn't order that. We specifically ordered the falafel plate. Anyway after bantering back & forth he tells us that he will credit us back, I told him I paid cash, which he never gave a receipt for and on top of that he over charged us. The gentleman left a bad taste in our mouth, and we left with our food. Finally we get home, sit down to eat. Now we are hungry and a little upset too. Open the trays, yes the food was right, took the first bite into the falafel and they were uncooked. The rice was dry and salad was doused with dressing. My husband and son, were so upset that we ended up trashing the food. The falafel were burnt on the outside and under cooked on the inside. I'm sorry but we will not be back again. I previously made a review and it was not a good one because the customer service was not good at all very rude and did not want to help me or re make the food even though I would pay for it again. the manager reached out and asked if he could refund me or remake my order I told him it was fine but I didn't want it again that they should just work on their customer service again and he asked me to remove my review because the reviews are important to them but I didn't. so he reported my review and now yelp is saying he reporded my comment as "negative cultural" which is crazy to me. When they found out it was our first time, they gave me great recommendations and explained the dish perfectly. They made sure to mention that everything is Halal. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the last time I went in on Saturday night the cook had his mask around his neck. So disappointing as I was so exciting to have the badmaash burger again!
