I'm a Repeat customer. I had a puff of smoke coming out the tailpipe on the highway. When it happened again after a couple hundred miles, I took the car to Fallon to have it checked. They drove the car and ran diagnostics, but couldn't find anything conclusive. They were willing to keep the car over night to try it again when cold the next morning, since that's when a leaking head gasket would be more likely to show. I told them that both times it had happened the car was warmed up and on the highway. I asked if it would make sense to check compression, but the mechanic said he didn't expect to find anything with that after having checked the spark plugs. I ended up being charged 1/2 hour of work, which I thought was reasonable. Like everyone else I never get the feeling that I'm take. Advantage of - the honesty of this shop makes a big difference! Another Expected 'A Class' Job Done! For the past fifteen plus (Yes 15+) years or so, I have had my numerous vehicles serviced, including my company's property, by Mike Sr. & Little Mike's shop, Without Any difficulties, wheeling dealing, overcharging, etc... I was using another firm way back when, in Chantilly, which expanded their ways to the rippoff status... they attempted a number of times to add on work that was not needed. The cars have all changed these days, most everything is electronic this and that, you need the correct software that is too expensive, you almost have to be a gymnast to get in and make the repairs, removing this, getting that out of the way... I made an appointment ahead of time and dropped my car off first thing in the morning on the appointed day. When the lady (same person who took my appointment over the phone) checked me in, she was missing everything I had requested except the oil change. She finished checking me in and told me the car would be done that day. The NEXT morning I get a call from the same person asking what I wanted done, so obviously she hadn't entered the work request in the two times it was already given and none of the work had been started. I told her what I wanted done and she said it'd be done in an hour (seemed unlikely for an oil change, coolant flush, 60k mile check, and both state and emissions inspections). A couple hours later I get a call back from the same person, saying they've finished the 60k mile check and state inspection and let me know the front brakes need work. I'm quoted over $500 for front pads and rotors on a Scion xB! I hard pass on the brake work at that overcharged price. Feeling fed up I look back through my records with them and I can see that in the past they've recommended brake work on the very next visit after they've done brake work. As in, I previously took it to them to replace the rear pads, rotors, one rear caliper, and brake fluid during one visit and then five months (and 5k miles) later they recommended replacing the rear pads and rotors again! Oh and that receipt for the brake work shows pricing nowhere near what they just tried to sell me. read more

I dropped my car at 10 00 AM for a brake change. they told me it would be done after lunch break..I called around 3 40 PM they told me they did not fixed it because they received the wrong parts and they should be done at 5 00 PM.... I called them at 6 00 PM they told they got the wrong parts again... and I saw some damages on my car that they told me they didn't do. i left the shop at 7 30 PM. they received the parts around 7 10 pm it took them 20 min to install it but charged me for an hour and a half.....Go there at your own risk... I desperately want to like Fallon Auto. My best friend recommended them to me, and I've taken my 1980 z28 there a few times for various things...they have the nicest staff, and Mike is absolutely a guy that I could get along with - I couldn't ask for better people, y'know, unlike the people at the NTB I usually go to that make me want to jump out a window. That being said, unfortunately they've dropped the ball a few times on me. The biggest thing is when I took it in for a diagnostics. They offer free diagnostics, which is the COOLEST thing that I've ever seen...my car was consistently losing oil, and I could see that there was a patch under it growing pretty steadily. They told me after looking at it that there wasn't any leak, and it had to be burning oil, and the engine would need to be rebuilt to fix it. I was going through some crazy personal things at the time, and didn't have any time to look into it further...six months down the road, I finally jack the poor thing up to change the oil, and it's pretty damn obvious that the leak is coming from the filter and the pan plug, both of which were loose. Tightened them up, and boom, no more leak, and my oil level has stayed consistent for the last three weeks or so with steady driving. Really? Y'all are going to tell me I need to rebuild my engine (Which could run me anywhere from 1-2k if I pay someone to do it, or 1-2 days of my time if I do it myself) when the issue was just a loose bolt and a loose filter? There were two other, smaller and independent issues as well... I had taken the car in to replace the master brake cylinder, which was done very well at a fairly reasonable price. However, a week or so later, I was coming home and my tire blew out. I had the car towed home, and didn't think anything of it until later. After mulling it over and saving some money up, I decided to take it in to get all the tires replaced. Fallon Auto quoted me a little bit more than NTB, but I (as stated before) can't stand NTB, so I went with Fallon. I went out to jack the car up, put the spare on, and take it in...except the lugnut key was missing. After flipping out and looking everywhere for it, I called Fallon auto, where it turned out that someone had accidentally left it in the workshop. They apologized profusely, and had someone drive it out...I waited for a good 4-5 hours, and he never showed up. I called back, and someone told me that he had knocked on the door, and no one answered, so he left. He might have left the key on the car, I honestly don't remember...but seriously? Absolutely no communication. What if I had been driving somewhere and couldn't get the car towed back? What if it had been months later and someone had thrown the key out? Immediately following this, when I got the z28 back from the tires being replaced, all the hubcaps were off and in a bag in the back. I reached out to Mike later that week when I noticed (And subsequently tried to reattach them, to find that they had been snapped off and not attachable) and he told me that they had been attached with silicon glue, and putting the new tires on caused them to pop off. He offered to replace them, even though it wasn't their fault, which I really appreciated...but it wasn't really about the money or the hubcaps, it was about the lack of communication. The hubcaps were just put into a bag and tossed in the back. This is my baby - a 1980 z28 Camaro. I didn't really want anyone but me to work on it, so bringing it to Fallon was a serious display of trust...no way in HELL I'd take it anywhere near a crappy chain auto place like NTB or Firestone. Anyone with a classic car can understand that feeling. I'm not pissed that the caps came off...it happens. I'm upset that no one bothered to say anything. Let me emphasize...Mike's a great guy, and he's always made every effort to put things right. In other circumstances (Read: Dominos Pizza) I'm more than happy to screw over the company and get free stuff. But these things weren't disastrous, just failures to communicate. It's not something that I need to storm into the shop and demand all the free service (Or four new $50 hubcaps...seriously, thanks for the offer, but it wasn't your fault, you don't have to buy premium classic parts for my car if you didn't break them). If I need anything done on any of my OTHER cars, I will probably still bring it into Fallon Auto. But the total lack of communication from their staff is somewhat concerning in the instance of my baby. Mike is the boss, he can't be everywhere. I think he has a good thing going, hence the four stars. But there's also bit of room for improvement. read more

I have been going to Fallon for 12+ years. I first heard of Fallon from a coworker. I was having an issue with my car that another shop could not figure out for about 6 months and costing me $1500+ to no fix. So i figured let's try Fallon and they resolved it for only $150 on the first try!! I met Mike who is the owner and ever since then I've been a very happy customer and telling all my friends that if they need a reliable shop they should go to Fallon! I take my cars in for anything as small as wipers, inspection, emissions and when my cars acts up they are the first people i call! Thank you Mike and all the guys i see when i come by! If someone figures out how to get their car serviced here, please let me know. Fallon Automotive is only a few miles from where I work, so it would be nice to be able to have work done here. I called at 9 AM and asked if I could bring my car in for an inspection and oil change at 12:30. Whoever answered the phone said sure, no problem, but when I arrived at 12:30 there was no one at the desk. There's no bell, either, or any other method I could find to alert that a customer has arrived. Around 12:40 a man walked in and silently went through to the back. Perhaps I should have talked to this man; perhaps he should have talked to me. However neither of us spoke. After waiting 15 minutes to see if something would happen, nothing happened, so I left. My daughter who just moved to the area went to Mr. tire to repair AC on her car.She was charged $37 to replace two O-rings, $137 for an hour of labor plus an additional $195 for Freon. When I talked to John a store manager he said the O-ring cost was $28 plus a$9 mark up. Auto zone sells the part for $6. He said $137/hr is standard rate and freon included a $100 "service fee". Although I don't live in Virginia any longer, I used Fallon for different types of repair work for a 6 year period and have always found them to be fair priced and honest with what needs to be done. Mike and the other guys I have encountered in the shop have always been very nice and easy to work with. We've had oil changes, battery replacements, tires, an engine replaced, cooling system work, to name a few, on both of our vehicles, with good results. After replacing the engine, a few tweaks were needed and handled very quickly by the shop. I highly recommend them for auto repairs. read more

My experience was always good and professional. Maybe they are not the fastest one, but they fix what is broken, and they are not inventing some shady leakages or broken things. They are fair with their prices and they explain what is wrong with the car. If you just need a oil change, you can find coupon online, which they will honor it every time. I came to Fallon Automotive because my air conditioning hadn't been working for a couple of months and it was 95 degrees outside. Fallon found the only problem was that the A/C wasn't plugged in. He fixed it and didn't charge me a dime unlike other mechanics who probably would have charged hundreds of dollars. I just happened to read this reviews and thought I need to share my expereince with this shop. They are a bunch of jerks just looking to drain your pocket. This is a very bad mechanic shop and we cannot trust them at all. I just went for a repar recently and they did a very bad servie to me. Some people there doesn't care about the customer and their only motive is get as much service charge from the customer.As clearly stated in the other reviews they are very arrogant and bad mannered people. After borrowing my grandmother's car to drop someone off at the airport, I realized one of her blinkers was out. A Google search led me to Fallon, so I called to see if they could fit me in before I returned the car. I had very bad experience with this shop. We cannot trust them and they always try to rip you off. I took my car for checking some issues and a guy named Mike (not the owner Mike) called me and told few issues with the car and fixing that will cost 2000 dollars. Since the car is not worth it that much I told not to do that . When I went to pick up the car he charged me for the time he spend to check those issues. Also he was very arrogant. The one review before me states the auto service is excellent, but had a bad experience with the fellow who answers the phone. Good lord, if that is the worst to complain about for an auto repair shop, I'd say the place is pretty good. My own experience with Fallon Automotive. I say excellent, outstanding. (by way of background, for 10 years, when I owned several Mercedes, I had a crazy auto mechanic who used to be Rommel's personal tank mechanic back in Germany, before he immigrated to Boston. That guy was a perfect mechanic, in fact, he dictated to you what models of Mercedes you could buy, if not on his recommended model list, he would not touch your car. Waste his time with a silly complaint, and he would roll you car out in the street and shut his garage door. But that was another time and place, let's talk about Mike Fallon.) I have had excellent service with this shop through 3 cars. (1) A old used knockabout Acura, Fallon did excellent work. Honest, saved me lots of money. (2) 1993 Lincoln Continental. Again, Fallon has been excellent with this car, always dead honest, excellent service and repair work, always giving me good advice about what maintenance to do, what to repair. Went out of his way to save me money several times, finding used parts, etc. This is still my favorite car, I prefer it to late models, and it still gets 23 miles per gallon long-term average driving around the Sterling-to-DC area. Now a story. This car has a full air suspension, and that proved the car's Achilles' heel, difficult to repair. Took it for 2 years to a Ford-Lincoln dealer. They charged a fortune and really messed up the suspension. It took Fallon and his best mechanics several DAYS of diagnostic time to fix the problems caused by the dealer. Mike felt bad for me, charged me about one-third of what I expected the bill to be. That was 2 years ago. Car has run perfectly since, and it will go back to Fallons next week for a routine annual service. (3) We also have a late-model Lincoln Continental, purchased used. Mike services it. Never a problem. In sum, this is an outstanding independent auto repair shop. You won't find soft-soap salesmanship here, you will find honest, to-the-point feedback about what they find with your car, and quality of repair work as good as I think you will find anywhere. Shiny late models, middle-aged cars, end-of-life junkers. I have taken all 3 types to Fallons and been impressed with the personal service, honest feedback, quality of repair with each. read more
