I was looking forward to trying the food here. And unfortunately, I wasted my time and money. First, I waited for a long time to receive my order. I ordered with the cashier who greeted me when I walked in. (The greeting was the only positive thing I experienced). I paid the cashier and went to the back to wait for my food. But because I didn't personally give the cooks my order, they had my uncooked food just sitting there. One of the cooks became irritated when informing me how they prefer things to happen. If that was such a huge deal, the cashier should've told me to talk to the cooks first. In addition, the Stromboli was bland. We are staying at the Hyatt House and ordered dinner to be delivered after a LONG drive. We ordered mushroom pizza, baked ziti and a meatball sub. Everything was excellent! The marinara sauce was not too acid or spicy. The pizza crust was crispy and little a chewy...definitely NY pie! The meatballs were hand rolled, not from a frozen bag purchased at a superstore. A standard New York slice joint. The trick here is to go at lunch when a good crowd and turnover means your slizza will be fresh. On the last Tuesday in May, the place was about 2/3 full. The spinach slice was tasty and reheated well. I don't usually order "fusion" items like cheeseburger pizza, but the slice was visually appealing. It reheated well and was delicious, although it could have used less "special sauce. " The pleasantly chewy crust on both slices was better than those I remembered from previous visits. First off, pay attention to the people who say this is "good" or "New York pizza." They're from nowhere near NY and are tourists! This place is disgusting, and the person who said it was cardboard with cheese was spot-on. I don't know why my boyfriend likes this place (he is from here in NY too), but it is gross, the cheese is like leather, and they have microwaves behind the counter where they heat up frozen foods for the things like eggplant. I am giving this place 1 star because of the bad attitude and customer service I found there last Monday. I had gotten a slice of pizza further down the block and was walking with a friend who decided she wanted a slice of pizza. Being right in front of Famous Famiglia I suggested we go in and get her a slice. When we walked in the man behind the counter told me to get out because I was hurting his business by walking in with my half eaten slice of pizza (there were only 2 other customers in the store). When he told me to get out I explained that I was bringing my friend in so she could get a slice of pizza and we would be on our way. I made it very clear that this was in no way hurting his business, but in fact was quite obviously helping it! He was quite rude and refused to allow me to enter so he lost not only my friend's immediate business last night, but all future business from myself, my friend, and all of my other friends that will be enjoying the downtown area with me on a regular basis. If he had handled it in a more positive and friendly manner, such as making a light hearted joke about the situation, I would have felt more inclined to return there in the future. For their sake, I hope they are more welcoming of potential customers going forward. read more
