As I am not American, I struggle a little bit with the very casual style of serving food in cafes like this one. Everything is served on paper or in plastic. Even the water was served in a Styrofoam cup. Dessert did not even make it to a plate and was placed on the table on some folded wax paper. But I guess that is the appeal of the picnic style of eating. They offer a nice variety of sandwiches and burgers. The bite size cheesecake we had for dessert was really good. What I enjoyed most of all was the Halloween Decor. I won't give it away but it was the most fun I have ever seen in a restaurant! read more

We were rushed in to get our breakfast order in by 10.30am...really?? All coffee mugs were heavily stained with a couple actually dirty that we wiped clean. Paper plates and plastic cutlery...yet prices were relatively high..sausage looks like a hockey puck. May go back and try lunch...lets hope it's better... read more

Locally owned (love that), great food and wonderful people. You would NOT guess what the inside looks like from the road. Great country kitsch atmosphere. We tried the following: chicken and sausage gumbo (special of the day, not on the menu), grilled cheese, salad with (homemade) blue cheese dressing, garlic/cheese biscuits, cherry trifle and king cake muffin. Everything - and I do mean every thing - was top notch. They're only open for breakfast and lunch, and they're closed two days/week (can't remember which two!). So glad we found this gem! My husband and I decided to stop by when he had a day off during the week. I got the bonfire burger with potato salad and he got the cheeseburger with potato wedges. We loved all of it, no complaints. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly without being too much. On our way out I got a Lemon bar and we said hi to the turtles and turkeys that love on the property from what I can tell. Yall have to check this place out! read more

Been twice for breakfast, and once for lunch. Prefer breakfast. Wish they were open for weekend breakfasts. Fun relaxing location (look for the art-car out front, and follow the trails past the pet turtles), clean, super friendly staff, and good food. Wish it was not such a drive from the Woodlands, but plan to return when we have another chance on a weekday. Hint: Across from 1000 Oaks subdivision entrance. Too expensive. The food was okay but the prices were way to high. They have specials but you can't substitute a different drink...they made us pay for coffee when it came with tea. What is the difference in tea and coffee price...not much if any. They didn't tell us either until we got to the counter to pay. read more

Went down the path and into the woods to the cutest built place I've seen!! Complete with an awesome tree house up high that you can book for parties!! Walked in and was welcomed by many smiling faces!!!! The food is to die for and the fun you will have at this place is over the top. Owners are always there and the theme and things you will endure.......well, I will not give away all their secrets!!! You have to go to try the food and see how much fun you will have here!!! I went yesterday for breakfast. I was so disappointed by the food quality. Serving a hot breakfast on paper plates with plastic utensils is such a turn off. Not to mention it cools your food so much faster. I got the magnolia breakfast with a waffle. My hash browns were served to me cold and by the time I got to the waffle it was cold and they gave me syrup that appeared to have come out of the refrigerator making the waffle colder. It is ashame because had the waffle been warm with warm syrup, it would have been tasty. The sausage patty was a hockey puck and the bacon was cold as well. It was clear they cook all the bacon and sausage first thing in the morning and serve it when ordered without hearing it up. This was my first experience there for breakfast and I will never go back for breakfast. read more

My wife and I made our first of what will be many visits to The Family Tree Cafe. The setting is very cool, in the woods, old barn siding buildings, indoor/outdoor seating. They have a Wild Turkey wondering the property and a lot of tortoises meandering around the elevated wooded walkway. The cafe is immaculately clean, servers are very friendly, and the owners are great. Decor is very cool. We ate inside at a booth. It is small, but not a problem, the food and service are worth it. I had a Mini Magnolia Burger w/a side of potato salad. My burger was excellent, and the potato salad was very good. My wife had a Club Sandwich w/potato wedges. She said it was really good; it looked like it. The servers are great, the all work the entire cafe, so your always being looked after. The are open Mon. to Fri. 7am to 2pm. We are going next for breakfast, the menu looked great. Hope this is helpful. It's a very cool cafe. read more

We really enjoy this place. The location is very convenient for us, we don't have to drive too far to get a decent meal. This is a bare bones kind of joint, paper plates- but that's okay! Their breakfast menu has a nice variety. The lunch menu is good too, I just wish they had a few more healthier options. Their sandwich buns are delicious! The shrimp Po'Boy is great but I alway feel like it wasn't filling enough esp for the hefty price, perhaps two or three more shrimp would be nice so that the bread doesn't overwhelm the shrimp. They have a daily special for a great price, but there are absolutely no substitutes. Wish parking was better, not too many spaces or else you have to park in the muddy grass. This place is only open for breakfast and lunch and not on weekends. read more

Everyone here is so mean!!! We drove a whole hour to get here, sat down at 10:29 and no matter what we said, they refused to serve us breakfast. Even though in the kitchen breakfast was still being made for others. I should be giving a one star review, but I won't because I'm nice. read more

Place was surprisingly neat inside but the lunch food was sub-par at best. We told two people that the fries were burned and were visibly and literally blackened and they said it was hard to bake fries without burning them....hmmmm....also my hamburger was charred and burned in part. But the worst was my husbands grilled chicken sandwich. It tasted like rubbery nothing and I am not kidding. The food came out in like five minutes so obviously there is an issue with quality. Frozen chicken reheated maybe?? Not sure. The staff was friendly other than not caring when I said the fries were bad (how about "so sorry, can I get you something else?") I agree with everyone else got meatloaf sandwich I still can't figure out how they cut it so thin I hardly tasted any meat. Isn't meatloaf cheap to make just saying don't think I'll go back paper and plastic with a high price. read more
