The restaurant is very big and comfortable, very much like a BBQ spot should be, the service is always quick and the staff are all very knowledgeable about the menu and guide you with any questions you may have. Late post from this past Sunday. I totally meant to post sooner. Second visit to this location. I had great service by the person who was running the corner and bartending and serving which is quite a bit for one person but he did a good job. The food is always great and this location is pretty quiet which is also a plus. I was there around lunch time just after opening so that should be mentioned. I will continue to return as I am a fan of the franchise and it's food. I had a couple drinks also which were good. I came to do small family gathering with nephew in bay area and decided to use them to cater. From a person with 40 years catering and events planning experience, I can tell you that FD is "Over the To" EXCEPTIONAL." Every single item was amazing. The servings were great. I can directly compare to the last similar sandwich I had at Dickies BBQ - a burnt ends sandwich - that wasn't all that great. Here at Famous Daves the bread and the meat was much better and I think the meat portion a bit more generous too. Made for a great value. Came with some cole slaw - I tend to like that with BBQ best lately. Beautiful new restaurant - interior is immaculate and large windows make it bright and cheerful. Lots of seating - tons of options - both inside and out. Sit on the perimeter for quiet - or near the bar with the TVs. This restaurant is just across the street from the new $1.5 million pack and stack housing. I'm ready to live in a shoe box there just so I can have Famous Dave as my neighbor. Recently was also at Everette and Jones. So many redneck diamonds on the sidewalks there. If you've got an SUV I would strongly suggest you come here instead - or mabye E&Js #2. Pretty good barbecue spot. I got the rib and meat combo. I opted for the brisket as my meat option along with the ribs. I also got French fries and coleslaw with my meal. The meal already included a slice of cornbread. First of all, the ribs were delicious. They were cooked exceptionally. They were tender and had a very wonderful flavor. Loved that smoke of the ribs. The brisket on the other hand was okay. I felt that they were a bit overcooked. I was glad that I had the pleasure of eating the brisket with their BBQ sauces. I have tried the 3 that were provided and enjoyed the sweet and tangy sauce the best. The sauce definitely saved the slightly overcooked meat. The fries were good and tasted better with the sauces. The slaw was okay. The cornbread wasn't too bad. It has a nice consistency and wasn't too sweet. I was really surprised by how much lemonade I was given. It was served in a pretty big mason jar and it was a lot for me to finish. Service wasn't too bad. Our server was very friendly and efficient. They made sure our meal came in a timely manner and also made sure we had an enjoyable experience. It was actually a delight to have a huge glass of drink to wash down all of the meat that I have consumed. The ambiance was nice. The restaurant is situated in a plaza with many other businesses. Ordered the 4 piece St. Louis Style ribs with the potato salad and jalapeño Mac and cheese. This place was a ghost town at lunch time on a Saturday. I placed my order to to and the credit cardaching was down so they had to move me to a different register. They couldn't figure out how to put extra sauce on the side so I asked them how did they do that for to go orders? They said they just placed it on the ribs itself. As you can clearly see the ribs do not have a lot of sauce, nor do they have a lot of meat. I felt like it was a rip off. Dry NOT meaty ribs with a broken cornbread muffin which mimics my feelings and barely warm heat lamp jalapeño Mac and cheese was like 2 1/2 stars. The potato salad was okay at 3 stars average.. The cold cornbread muffin being the best thing at 4 stars even though it was cold. The dry ribs were like chewy beef jerky...when you could get some meat. Ribs and burnt ends were mostly fat. I have never seen fat in burnt ends which made me think they were made from something other than brisket. The ribs were also mostly fat making them inedible as my child said "the top part is too soft". On the up side, the thick potato wedges (not fries as they call them) and the chicken were delicious. Today after attending the Black College Expo in Oakland, we went through the tunnel and came over to Alameda. We walked in and there was nobody in front of the restaurant. We will stayed there by the register then I walked towards the back. I ordered on Grub Hub and I was pleasantly surprised with my dinner! I ordered ribs, Wilbur beans and the potato salad and it came with the square of cornbread. The ribs tasted fresh and delicious and the potato salad is some of the best I've had with barbecue, it was delicious. The Wilbur beans were sweet and much better than I Expected this is the first time I had them. The cornbread was a little bit sweet and very moist and very flavorful. We did have to order before we sat at our table which was unusual, I hate being put on the spot to order if I knew I woulda sat in my car and checked menu out longer... but that's okay. We opted for 2 Two Meat Combo, Hot Link & Country Fried Chicken and Two Meat Combo, Hot Link & BBQ Chicken. It was just okay. Not great but not bad. It definitely wasn't wasn't authentic bbq though! Potato salad wasn't good. Mac n cheese could've been cheesier and cooked longer. Beans tasted from a can. Fried chicken was alll batter no chicken! Bbq chicken was dry as you can see in picture. Famous Dave's was ok. It was very "Chain" like BBQ. It was a very nice day and we sat outside at a large table. There were quite a few large groups here as well and they seem to be able to fit all of us. Service was excellent. From beginning to the end. I have zero complaints about the service at all. However, the food. Oof I was not impressed. I felt it was way to expensive for what it was. My man got a salad with chicken and the chicken was sand paper dry and hard to choke down. I got the cup of chili and it was too spicy for me not to mention I had a strange allergic reaction on my mouth after eating it. The best part of the meal was the corn bread and my small side salad. My office did lunch delivery from Famous Dave's and it was fantastic! The portions are very generous so be careful not to overstuff yourself! I had a two meat combo with the brisket and ribs. All the meat was moist and pull apart delicious! The devil's spit hot BBQ sauce is delicious and not too hot. I don't eat cornbread. Ever. I devoured their cornbread without even using butter. It is amazing. My sides were the jalapeño Mac n cheese and the beans. The beans are stupid good and I wish I had more! I ate all of the Mac b/c it was tasty and the jalapeño added a nice hint of flavor but I would say the cheese sauce was a bit loose and saucy more than cheesy. Ok, I have decided that I like to get BBQ from Famous Dave's in Alameda. That's because the food is tender, juicy and easy to eat. Sunday fun day! Haven't had bbq in awhile. Couldn't wait for the corn bread, still the best around! What better way to enjoy Famous Daves and watch the 49er game! It was quite busy but I'm glad the server I think his name is Niko still works there. He made sure we were doing well at our table, asked a couple times if we needed refills.
