I made the mistake of eating here at 6:45 pm on the 20th of November. I ordered the burnt ends platter. What a mistake! I received a cup of chopped meat. It was cold and so was the rest of the meal. No ends, just cold chopped squares. Beans, potatoes and corn bread-all cold!! $50 and it was junk. My wife got pulled pork and yes it was cold. The entire meal was terrible. We will NEVER go back to that place again. I complained to the waitress and she didn't know what burnt ends were. Never again!!! read more

We came here for date night last night. I've never been here before and really liked the vibe and atmosphere. I ordered the 2 meat plate with brisket, catfish, corn, and garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was AMAZING!! The brisket was soo tender and soft, the catfish was seasoned really well and the sauce that it came with was delicious. The garlic mashed potatoes were perfect, and the corn was juicy, but pretty plain and flavorless. It also came with a small cornbread muffin that was good too. Our server (who is very pregnant) was great and working really hard. We were seated next to a family with a screaming baby. I think there could have been opportunity to move us and others around us to another table in the pretty empty restaurant. Now, let's talk food: HAIR! A short wavy white hair in my husband's jalapeno sausage. We were kind of done at that point. We are both KCBS certified judges and have a clear appreciation for quality of barbecue meats. The Pick Three plate ordered tonight missed the mark for taste, texture and freshness. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. The limited menu is a let down. We won't be returning. We went to famous Dave's in Thornton for lunch around 2 in the afternoon, first off we sat at the bar and waited 10 minutes before anyone came out from the back. When they did come out they treated us as if we were imposing on them, when we got the food our order was wrong they got irritated with us took our food back and we waited 10 more minutes and treated us as if we made the mistake!!?? Upon entering no front person for at least 5 minutes. When ordering they we out of coleslaw. Once the meal for four to six arrived the food was terrible. The ribs were so tuff I couldn't eat them. The brisket was tuff and sparingly on the platter. Eighty dollars for a horrible meal. Mens bathroom was dirty and very unclean. Needless to say very poor management and we won't be back! read more

I just received my dried out ribs with dehydrated meat oh wait what meat? and the so called brisket sandwich with four pieces of meat not even close to the picture! The meat was full of fat! Famous Daves, this is actually my second visit just a different location. The restaurant is spacious, super clean and our host promptly seated us. Our drink order was taken quickly and our server mad sure our granddaughter was engaged with crayons. We ordered the large assorted platter that easily served us four, we all tasted very delicious variations of BBQ complimented by 6 different BBQ sauce made by Famous Daves, sauce was delicious . Used to come here a lot and it was the top spot we'd bring our out of state family -- because they requested it! Within the last 5 years, service and food has gotten terrible. Went this week probably for the last time ever. Service was bad, our 6 top was not checked on, drinks were not refilled, etc etc etc. Then we got the food -- YUCK! Fatty, flavorless, dry.... They used to hook up the table with a bbq sauce sampler and everything. The place was dead when we went right at lunch time and I can see why. Unfortunately this place is on its way out and we definitely won't be back. read more

We witnessed a customers at the bar getting ignored for half an hour. When I brought it to the bartenders attention she said "he has a server it the dining room to take his order. I'm busy. He hasn't been waiting there that long." We were eating our dinner at a table in the bar and we finished our dinner so we knew how long he had been sitting there. The point is whether he had a server in the dining room or at the bar he was a customer wanting to be served not totally ignored. The man was a Latino. He was obviously being profiled by this bartender. She spoke to us and spoke to others and totally ignored this man. She should be ashamed for her crappy attitude. read more

Fun and funky hunter cabin decor. Very casual dining. T shirts and jeans the norm here. Our server was William and he was great. Took a few minutes to get our drinks, and certainly my ice tea needed more ice. Food is ok. I had the brisket and spare ribs. The bread the brisket came on could have been better than a simple white piece. Real Texas Toast would be better. Peach cobbler is wonderful. My wife had the chopped pork. Unfortunately it was very fatty. Good flavor though. Good selection of sauces to choose from at the table. French fries not good at all. We arrived with our party of 7 at 5PM on Saturday night. Told them we were out our way at 330 People came up and order after us, and received their food before us. Our food was supposed to come with a pint of beans ( but got mashed potatoes instead) thankfully we ordered EXTRA beans at $3.99 ( for like $4 for 1/2 a cup ! ) Our cornbread was just literally tossed in the To-Go container, so they ended up getting stuck to all the other food. The server from hell works here! We've been eating at this Famous Dave's since they opened a few years ago. Tonight, my wife and I ordered a total of 10 ribs and some sides. The food was good with the exception of 2 ribs that were heavily charred and not edible. We politely asked our server to replace them and he just walked off. We waited about 20 minutes and our server walked by us at least twice without saying anything. He finally stopped to collect payment and I asked about replacing the burnt ribs still sitting on the table. He became agitated and raised his voice saying it wasn't his fault. I said the bad service and not talking to us was his fault. He brought another bill with a discount, but he charged us for 2 ribs he never brought. I questioned the charge and he became belligerent and even louder. He told us to leave and never come back! I'm a disabled veteran with a paralyzed arm and my wife is very protective. She felt I was threatened by the server and she stood up in front of him to protect me. I signed the receipt with no tip and we left. I calmly talked to the manager on the way out and he apologized for the server's behavior. As we went to our car In disabled parking, the server came out and wrote down our license plate number. I guess he was trying to intimidate and threaten us. Hopefully Famous Dave's can make the necessary staff changes. I'm glad my review was noticed by management. I'm not interested in any compensation because I won't be back for a long time. I hope this server's behavior is corrected because other servers rely on happy customers and repeat business. read more

The beef brisket was sliced paper thin, and served on white bread. This was formerly thicker sliced, and served Texas toast. I have never been, but I have heard of this place. Nothing but good reviews. I have to say, there were some stumbling blocks. It started out with a sticky menu, something that is a pet peeve of mine. Statistically menus are the filthiest thing in restaurants. They never get cleaned. I got up to use the restroom after ordering so I could wash my hands. The bathroom was unacceptable. The trashcan was overflowing, there was vomit in the sink, and the paper towel dispenser was broken. So the roll of paper towels were sitting on the counter in a puddle of soapy water. I will give them this, my sandwich was excellent. But the coleslaw left a lot to be desired. It had little to no flavor. Like, sliced cabbage and a bowl of white sauce. Pepper didn't fix it, salt didn't fix it, it needed some depth. I generally don't notify the corporate offices of places, but I dropped a line on this one. read more

Quite possibly the best burger I've ever eaten in my life. The meat was juicy, tender and cooked perfectly with the perfect amount of seasonings, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, the cheese was flavorful and the bacon was also cooked perfectly. Like so many other similar establishments, they have festooned the walls with home-spun photos and art and items of local interest. But somehow, its doesn't feel as fake. Perhaps its the yellow knotty pine paneling, but it just works. Its homey and inviting and really does feel like a giant mountain cabin. The food was very good too, as is the large array of BBQ sauces sitting tabletop. I had a grilled chicken sandhog, not exactly food of BBQ lore, but it was nicely portioned and char-iffic. read more

Overall very satisfied for the amounts of food we had and the quality of the food. I really enjoyed the ribs, they were comparable to the ones we had back in Dallas, Texas. The decor around the restaurant was great and kid friendly.
