I've never been to a Famous Dave's BBQ, so this'll be new. We get the box ... wow, that seems a little small for a whole rack of ribs! But I guess they got 'em all stuffed in there! The ribs were tasty enough, not over cooked to falling off the bone. I preferred them with no sauce. We got sauce in these little ass packets that don't hold much anyways. Not the worst ribs I've had ... better than Dicky's ribs. OK, done eatin in the back of the truck and on to the rest of this "date"! I don't think I'll wanna get food here again, maybe if it was sit down dining , but not to go. What if you get ribs to go and then took them into Johnny Carino's and ordered drinks!? First off, bought gift cards, did not know that you have to order like 45 min in advance, and its only to go. Also, if its to go your would not thing you would have to pay for containers that it comes in, but they charged an extra 10 buck for packaging fee. Ridiculous! I got the brisket, dry and flavorless, chicken had a good flavor, but was really dry as well. The ribs were pretty good. Cornbread was really good. Hate coleslaw, but there is no substitutions as well, so had to get it, beans were ok. But overall, the food was not great, its to go minimal orders there, so im assuming they probably bbq it most of the way and finish heating it up at the restaurant they sell out of. But all i know is me and my son and daughter all had food poisoning after. The only thing i had that day was scrambled eggs and toast in the morning then that. So i was pretty sure it was that that caused it. Also, you have to pay for any sauce you get, so i paid for 2 things of ranch because i ordered wings to finish up my gift cards, they only gave me 1 blue cheese, no ranch. First time trying them out. The BBQ chicken was really good. Nice balance of sweetness and tangyness to the sauce. Brisket was okay, better than Dickies BBQ down the street but still lacking. It falls apart easy enough, but the flavor was just okay. I enjoyed the brisket being served over the Texas toast, the menu doesn't mention the toast (or at least I didn't read any mention of it) so it was a nice surprise. The corn bread muffin was hard and isn't served with butter or honey. The macaroni and cheese had jalapeño and corn in it. It wasn't what I was expecting but the sweetness from the corn really tastes good with the heat from the jalapeños and creaminess of the cheese sauce. The garlic mashed potatoes were pretty gross though. It's like they used too much flour as a thickening agent and the mashed potatoes turned out like glue, no creaminess to it at all. I ordered their "Famous Sampler". It consists of cheese curds, boneless wings and nacho's. Very disappointing! The chicken, I don't even know if it's chicken meat or not, they were very dry and tasteless, the consistency was that of cardboard. Worst wings I've ever tasted. The cheese curds, ehhh, I've only had cheese curds from one other place, A&W, and A&W was soooooo much better. These tasted "ok". The nachos, ewww, soggy chips topped with what I think is pulled pork. Very spicy with jalapenos, sour cream and lettuce. Not very tasty though. Ribs were not smoked nor were they grilled. They were clearly baked and refrigerated. They tasted like 2 day old ribs and were clearly not smoked or grilled at all. Called to discuss with manager and he blew me off, really poor customer service and crap food. For the record, I use to frequent Famous Daves in Vegas, this is not the same quality. The receptionist stated they had changed and don't smoke them anymore then the manager came on the phone and lied about it and said they smoke everything. Since this location is sharing kitchen space with an Italian restraunt my guess is this site is cutting corners and attempting to pass this poor quality bbq off as 'Famous Daves,' which it is not. I've gotten their catering before through work and volunteer events and it was good! On the other hand, we tried going in to the restaurant for a change and they sat us at a dirty table (which they apologized for and fixed). But even with the coupon we had it was still very expensive and they did not cook the meat and was not good, sadly to say we did not eat it. There sides are also pretty small for the price, and the Mac n cheese has corn in it which wasn't bad but would be better without. Safe to say it is not our choice for BBQ. read more

We tried this place in response to an Uber Eats promotion. Never heard of it before. I guess it's in the Jonny Carino building. The order was delivered on time. First the good points, Portions were very generous BBQ beans were good, sauce was very tasty, fair amount of meat chopped in to the beans. Cole Slaw was sweet and tasty. Cornbread muffin tasty. BBQ ribs were nice & meaty. The ribs were a little tough and dry. Chicken was dry and overcooked, but again, a generous amount. The brisket was very disappointing. The brisket had a weird texture, and very soft, almost crumbly. The fries were wedge cuts, which I really enjoy. The packets of bbq sauce were really tasty. The food arrived and wasn't really warm. The fries had been cooked well before, they were spongy, and tasted like the oil they were cooked in, was well used. None of the bbq items had much smoke flavor. This is ran from inside Johnny Carinos, which of course is a little odd. I asked the manager why and she said they are owned by the same company. I love bbq so I wanted to try here for my birthday. I got the pork sandwich with sweet and zesty sauce and beans and they were both great. Bun was soft and beans had chunks of meat mixed in. Also got a pound of brisket (because they couldn't sell less than a whole pound) and I was unimpressed. Slices were cut too thin and not very fatty. Resembled more of a tri tip than brisket. My dad enjoyed his sides and my vegan mother was able to get pasta and overall was a nice meal. read more

I love Famous Dave's BbQ and have been to many of their locations. But tonight in the Fairfield CA location I was not very happy with the service. The food as always was excellent. But the service was horrible from the front desk cashier. I place an order for a 9 bone rib combo. I told her what sauce I wanted when I ordered. I proceeded to sit near the bar by the front door where she could see me. She had told me the order would be about 10 minutes or so. About 20 minutes had passed and I go back to the cashier and I asked if that was my order sitting there. She says it is. I told her I was sitting right there so she could see me why didn't she let me know my order was ready. She says ohhh I thought you left. She never bothered to look for me at the bar by the door. I wasn't happy. Then when I get home back to Sacramento I open my bag and their is no napkins, no fork or spoon and no bbq sauce. I had kept looking over to the front waiting on my order and never once did she turn around to see me as she was chit chatting with another employee the whole time. My rating for the food is 5 stars as always but I would give her a 1 star. So my overall rating I am giving this experience is 2 stars. read more

First time I had this it was very good. Everytime after.......complete opposite. Brisket is cold, sides are cold, waitress is cold. I was simply talking quietly with my friend I was eating with when a heavyset woman approached my table and began to ARGUE with me about the food. She was eavesdropping on our conversation which is rude but going out of her way to butt in to argue with me was worse! The brisket was delicious and juicy (would have preferred a bit of a thicker cut though) Unfortunately the half chicken was forgotten on our order but we received a credit for it. I've known the franchise for some 15 years. First time was in El Centro, CA. Excellent food, and experience. Was the same at many other locations throughout my travels in the state. Found them today to be in Fairfield. Couldn't find them at first, until we saw they are housed in a Johnny Carrinos. It seems that the Carrinos conglomerate purchased the chain, and is attempting to do Italian and BBQ at the same time. The product is sub-par. The meats look pre-fab'd, the beans taste of warmed up VanCamps, and I do not remember any Mac and Cheese that has corn in it. The leftovers went to the trash. I have personally spent my last dollars in this attempt to enjoy what I remembered from the chain over the years. read more

Was looking for legit bbq, and this seemed more like the fast casual variety. Fine for a quick bite, but not so good for legitimacy. Location - was buried inside a Carino's location, which should have been a clue. The descriptions mentioned a pit, but I didn't see nor taste it. Service - polite, but no plastic / no napkins. Takeout should include plastic. If finger food, they should include napkins. Presentation - served in what looked like pizza boxes, otherwise good. Boxes were lined with foil on the bottom. Each was organized - i.e. foods were not slopped into each other. Meats were served on top of thick toast slices. Great when ordering bread. Not so great for the meat portions. The toast propped up the meats to fake out the quantity of meat. General - bbq should offer sauce on the side. I don't like meats "drowned" but would like the option of dipping. This was weak on the sauce. Ordered the 3 meat combo including 1. Pork - ok for shredded. Some larger pieces and showing some texture would have been better. 2. Brisket - thinly sliced, not much flavor. Brisket should have some bark or some meatiness. This reminds me of sandwich meats - although I prefer the flavor from the TJ roast beef sandwich slices. 3. Boneless wings - crust was good / crunchy. Inside reminded me of a McD chicken nugget - not sure what part of the chicken this started from. 4. Corn muffin - delicious, but it doesn't take much to get a thumbs up from me here. :) 5. Mac - overcooked pasta that was falling apart (meats should be fall off the bone tender - not the pasta). The sauce was thin, not cheesy. The slight corn topping would have been a nice touch - if the pasta had texture. 6. Fries - good crunch. Shaped like a steak fry, so with some potato / texture on the inside. (I'm not a shoestring fan - more into fat fries.) read more

It's even worse when only half the order is on time, and two of the salads get to bake for an extra 15 minutes waiting on the remainder of the order. Pretty disappointed with my entire order. The Caesar salads looked like they were throw together by children and the cheese, croutons, and dressing was severly lacking. The brisket and pulled pork sandwiches did not have any sauce on them nor was any included. The buns were not toasted. They were poor excuses for BBQ sandwiche. Oh, and the fries were horrendous, my father wouldn't even eat them. Didnt matter much because they only threw in a few anyway, probably for the best.
