My hotel has a spa but the tension I had needed a little more attention to detail, plus the hotel spa was a little steep. After having lunch I biked around the city and found Fall Spa. The lady was kind and took my right in to do a 60 min full body and 30 min foot massage. She even helped me store my bike inside. While I was expecting the lady to also do the massage, no one else was there but her and I, when I was laying on the table, I heard the voice of a man. Turns out his name was Jerry and he gave me the best massage! I gave him some directions and he did excellent with digging deep and getting out all the tension. It didnt feel rushed and Jerry occasionally checked in with me to make sure the pressure was OK. Im hoping to squeeze in another massage before I head back home. I def recommend this place.

I booked a 90 minute table massage with 3 friends and only one of us had a decent massage. As for my experience, my massage therapist did not speak English which made communicating my needs very difficult. She also did not seemed properly trained. She didn't use any type of technique other than rolling her forearm up and down my back and squeezing my shoulders and neck. When she moved to my lower body she barely used lotion and was pretty much rubbing my skin dry. She only rubbed from the knees down and she never massaged my upper legs. She then massaged my feet and went back to rubbing my upper body including my face! She put a blob of lotion on my face and started to rub it in at which point I told her to stop. She didn't understand me and I kept saying that I don't want her to touch my face and just rub my arms and neck instead. Why would I want you to touch my face after you just rubbed my feet??? My friend was also getting her massage in the same room and her massage therapist had to translate for me. He finally spoke to her and told her to stop. My friends also had bad experiences. One massage therapist was on the phone texting and taking calls during the massage. She was using one hand at times because she was holding her phone. The rest of the massage sucked. She squeezed the hell out of my shoulders and I kept asking her to go lighter but of course she didn't understand me. Now onto the premises. It's hot as hell in there as it's an old building. They have oscillating fans to keep cool. The walls don't go all the way to ceiling and you can literally hear the people as if they are in the same room. They have one small bathroom which had buckets in the sink collecting dirty water. They didn't have paper towels for drying your hands, instead they had a regular cloth towel for everyone to use. Gross! I try not to judge a book by its cover but this hole in the wall is literally that. I had hoped that the excellent reviews regarding customers' experiences would make up for the less than stellar appearance but unfortunately that's not the case. You get what you see. Unfortunately I did not get what I paid for, as it's a crime to charge as much as they do for a horrible massage. The massage chair where I get my pedicure gives better massages.

Our total came out to $233, which felt extremely excessive for the services received. My friend's pedicure was listed at $60, mine was listed for $50 but adding gel polish was an additional $20 just for polish. I added gel polish to my hand and toes as well and ended up paying $60 total just for gel polish alone. There were no prices posted. I saw $50 plus $20 gel on a receipt. We were never informed of these additional charges beforehand. Had I known, I honestly would have declined or gone elsewhere. On top of that, the technician forgot to apply a top coat on one of my friend's toes, which shows a lack of attention to detail -- especially considering the high cost. Overall, the biggest issue for me was the lack of communication and transparency about pricing, combined with service that did not match the premium price point. Customers should be clearly informed of add-on costs before services begin.

Now, many years later, I hear about "All About You" salon and decided it was time to give this another go. I am so happy I did. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by everyone (customers too!). Most of the time that I have gone, there's only Debra (the owner/manicurist) and Susan (my manicurist/love her!). I have been in there a couple times when one of the hair stylist are there as well, but I heard they are there by appt only. The salon is decorated cute and kept immaculately clean which is even more important now than ever! They even have fresh baked cookies that Debra's husband Dan bakes everyday! My guilty pleasure when I go. So back to my review of the salon (I was momentarily lost in my dreams of cookies, lol). Both Susan and Debra flew to Washington (state, not DC), for a week of intense training and certification for medical grade pedicures. I have yet to get one but have been there when numerous clients were thrilled with there's. Its definitely on my list and I will post a new review once I've personally tried it. Overall I strongly recommend giving this salon a try. They do get busy, so making an appointment or calling ahead is suggested. There hours have just changed and they now are open Sundays (Wednesday through Sunday).
