I've found it! Having searched for years to identify the place, I'm declaring the search over. This is the worst pizza to be found across Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston counties. Truly wretched. I almost don't know where to begin...the crust is terrible (like eating a stale biscuit or a soggy saltine. They truly have no idea how to incorporate and apply sauce. This place is just nasty. The Buffalo wings don't suck or my rating would be a negative number. I described my feedback to our server. His response was classic: "I'm from outside New Haven." He left it at that but my guess is that his agreement was clear. Anybody from the pizza capital of the US wouldn't eat this garbage either. read more

I work about 3 minutes from this place and I don't come here enough. They have a big outdoor patio/bar area. Super dog friendly. They also have a large indoor area with a few games for kids or adults. I have come here many times with big groups from work for an early happy hour and the staff has always been kind and accommodating. They even off a discount for teachers and other public service workers! They have great daily deals. We happened to come in on a Wednesday and we're surprised by half off bottles of wine. They also have half off apps on Sundays. Be sure to get the cheesy bread! The pizza is good. We got the white and it had an incredible garlic butter sauce. The Fam Brewing is amazing. We were visiting the area from Ohio and We found it on Yelp with great reviews. The reviews were correct. We ordered the Chicago style pizza and a cheeseburger. They were both fantastic. It is really hard to find a great Chicago style pizza and I am so happy we stubbled on this restaurant. They had a huge amount of toppings in the pizza and it was delicious. Visited Fam's Brewing for the first time last night for Harry Potter trivia. I've had takeout from their other location, but this was my first visit to the brewery. We sat at the bar and I loved that the bar top was wide enough for us to have drinks, trivia sheets, and pizza + plates. Our bartender, Jess, was great! She was slammed all night, but still took time to chat with us and took great care of our group. Of course the pizza is always good, as were the drinks. If you're not a beer fan, there are plenty of wine and cocktail options. I loved that they decorated the interior for the HP trivia and staff were all wearing themed outfits. Fam's is fab!! Seriously, what a great spot situated on the corner of a James Island strip mall. Be prepared to be surprised at how much seating is a available, especially outside during good weather (which is almost always in Charleston). We spent our time outside at the bar - there are A LOT of craft beers of various varieties brewed by Fam's. The outside bar is covered which helps with shading the sun. I'm late to the party for Famulari's Pizza, but met up with a few work girlfriends Sunday afternoon for a 'catch up' session. I hadn't had a calzone in years, just because they are so big and so high in calories. But, on this day, I chose to not eat anything except that (well 1/2 of one). The Famulari Calzone comes with ricotta and mozzarella cheese, but I asked to have some red onions and roasted red peppers added to it as well. As expected, it was huge, but so delicious and that marinara...my oh my. If they jarred it, I'd buy it! This is a really interesting place to visit on James Island. They offer pizza, beer, and dessert. It is always very busy and I chose to do takeout during my visit. I ordered the tiramisu cake and really enjoyed it! My expectations were pretty low, but the cake tasted homemade and was perfectly moist. This was a great spot to stop on a beautiful sunny afternoon! The weather is just right this time of year to take it advantage of the large patio Fams offers. The beer selection was not too shabby either. We started off with the fried cheese curds which were outstanding! How can you really go wrong with fried mozzarella. It's essentially a small version of a mozzarella stick. I got a calzone which was more than enough for a couple of meals. Just the right amount of cheese and fillings. Checking with the hostess, we were a party of four -- two people and two dogs. But first, a little flaggon to wet my whistle in the form of a Pumpkin Scream imperial pale ale served up in a Belgian glass -- similar to an oversized American cordial glass. A wonderfully aromatic smell, non intrusive on the buds as some pale ales can be, just sucking your enzymes dry. So I knocked back two of 'em and placed our dinner order. Taking the ordering helm, I combined some ingredients I am fond of, having never put them together and certainly not on pizza -- but ya only live once. What I had not considered is how overpowering the ingredients below can be when cooked hot and piled on high. My toppings: Chunky pesto, anchovies, black olives and banana peppers on NY style hand tossed dough. Once the heat dissipated, the pizza ingredients seemed to find a harmonious relationship and was was exceptionally good when dunked in this morning's coffee. Garlic Butter wings were served up crispy, tender and flavorful, some of the best wings I have had in Charleston, best on James Island. The blue cheese and ranch dressings were lacking, just didn't have the oooph needed to push these wings over the top to perfection. Two Folly Peach fruit wheat ales and we sat back to chat and enjoy the time, and the calm within the walls of their wonderful beer garden. read more

My wife, myself and another couple came over the holiday on a Wednesday around 2 pm. We sat at the bar and we ordered a few appetizers and every beer on tap. The wives loved the bruschetta and the guys loved the curds. The sandwiches were massive and the pizzas were pretty good too. Now my favorite part, the beers! After trying everything they offered I was thoroughly impressed. For context, I am a very big sour and heavy, dark beer guy. Their sours were decent and so were the darker beers. Out running errands, stumbled upon this place for the first time. A true local spot, the beer (Cup of Clouds) was one of the best hazy IPA's I've ever had, and being a brewery, brewed in house! Excellent service, great beer, cool outside area. A few friends and I came during Yelp restaurant week and finally tried the Chicago classic deep dish pizza. Wow! This pizza is huge!! Three guys and a girl still had leftovers. They do tell you in advance that it takes half an hour but it's worth the wait. I can't say it's better than the deep dish pizza I had in Chicago, but it's the best there is here. I wished it were saucier. We also split the loaded fries appetizer. This was just okay. The beer cheese just tasted like regular nacho cheese. I ordered a cup of ranch since I feel like that goes together. This costs an additional $0.50 but they let you know that in advance, which I appreciate. It tastes bottled so I probably wouldn't get it again. I only only Chicago cuz hubby likes it and we only get it once every 5 years because it's so beyond filling. Umm, good thing I don't live in Charleston. I'd move into this place if I did. Good beer, good pizza. Happy Hour with 5 dollar pints every single day and Chicago style deep dish pies that are pretty darn good for being so far away from Chicago. They had a Charleston Restaurant week special going when we went so we hit that up. We were glad we did. 30 bucks got us a pitcher, a full 14 inch size deep dish one topping pizza, and a choice of appetizer. The ball and chain chose the bruschetta. Overall, everything was really good and we'd order all of the same things again for sure. We could barely finish the pitcher and left for home with literally half of our pizza left for another meal or two. We also saw lots of patrons ordering thin crust pizzas and they looked really good as well. Next time I'll maybe try one of those too... No New England Style IPA's on tap, but we chose their blonde chocolate vanilla stout and it was light and yet plenty flavorful. This was a very good beer that checked in at something like 5.8% a.b.v. Good lovin' here. Try it. They do have a general smattering of beers of various flavors so you'll probably find some you like if you try. Not sure if they flight it up or not. So far, I've been here with just a couple of friends sitting at the bar on a Sunday afternoon, and at night with a large group taking up half of one side of the dining area. Completely different experiences, but done equally as well. Servers are friendly and quick. Food is yummy. Pizza, bread sticks, cheezy bread...all delicious! There is apparently pizza by the slice so I want to try that with a salad next visit. The 10" pizza is a perfect individual size. Now, I will also say that I did not get the Chicago style. That thing is huge!!! It's like double-stuffed. No one could eat more than two slices! Many leftovers to be had so plan on it if that's your fancy. Prices are very reasonable too which helps the pocketbook, especially at this time of the year. There is also a large outside bar area that would be nice to enjoy when the weather is not extremely hot or cold. It does sit kind of out in the parking lot, so don't count on any good views. It's cold outside right now and they have gas heaters all around, but it was just too cold for us this weekend. There were a few who braved it and I know those heaters do a pretty good job. This place is basically a sports bar chain with good beer and tasty food. The place can easily accommodate large groups, and there are booths for smaller crowds. There is also always the large bar area inside or out if you want to get some good gossip (or give it!) from/to the bartenders. TVs are everywhere so you don't have to worry about missing a game. Private parking at the end of the shopping centre for easy commutes. There is a Gold's Gym next door, so sometimes there is overflow when they are busy, but it seems that those patrons go from the gym to beer and pizza on the same night. No worries. This place was great tons of outdoor space. Its a pizza place with lots a beer selections hence the brewing name. We were happy to find this place through Yelp. Quick and courteous was Gillian and was helpful with the menu. I wanted to order a steak and cheese sandwich but were short on the steak. I instead ordered the steak and cheese pizza which was delicious. The kids got the regular pizza which they enjoyed. My wife got a Stromboli which was huge and liked it. After dinner the kids played the video games and pinball machines that were inside which was a bonus to keep the kids happy. I would recommend Fam's brewing. read more

If you haven't had Fam's yet- you're doing life wrong! This is, hands down, the BEST pizza on James Island! I've tried a variety of things on the menu. The pictures I've included with this review are for the Pepperoni Rolls, a Create Your Own Pizza, and a picture from last year's Oktoberfest. The Pepperoni Rolls are a regularly ordered item for our household. I'm not always a fan of red sauces but I love gooey cheese and pepperoni. The rolls are perfectly fried, filled with mozzarella and pepperoni and then covered in their delicious "shake" Parmesan mixture. They are ooey-gooey pizza bombs! We've tried several different pizzas- types and sizes. They were all pretty tasty but we've finally settled on our favorite combo. We love the 18" pizza with feta, mushrooms, jalapenos, and sausage. The larger size pizza creates a beautiful fold-able slice of heaven (and the leftovers are not frowned upon)! I am so thankful that we are also lucky enough to have this as a delivery option! Gone are the days of big box pizza companies. This past year, we attended Fam's Oktoberfest. It was so much fun! The beer was one of my favorites. I entered the pretzel eating contest and quickly just so I could try their pretzel. I highly recommend this event! We still have our mugs and can't wait for next year's event. read more
