Most Honest People In NYC I left a $4k ring at the salon but had no idea that is where I'd left it. Three weeks later, when I was back in town I stopped by to see if by any chance I'd left it there. I was in dire need of a manicure and a newbie to Chelsea, this place was literally around the corner from my new place! Score right?! Well sorta. $10 manicure and apparently it's very basic. Remove polish, file, cuticles (extra cost), fast dry coat (extra) and a super super short hand massage. The massage was all of maybe 30 seconds and nothing past my wrists. She rushed cutting my cuticles and missed a lot-- I had to tell the nail tech all the spots she missed. So at the end it was $11.50 plus tip. Nowhere does it say what is extra in a manicure -- so basically if they ask you "do you want ____?" It's probably gonna be extra money. I don't know honestly if I'd come back. Probably not but maybe as a last resort. Kinda sad about this review -- really wanted to have a super close nail salon. read more

Fancy this place ain't. Cheap and clean it is. I usually go to qq on 20th and 7th avenue but I've found the quality of the manicurists increasingly spotty. The manicurists are fast and efficient here and I've rarely had to wait here. Probably because the digs look dodgy. Across the street is also spa belles which is nice. But hey for clean I'm cool w $10 for a manicure versus $15 The ladies are very nice and I can't believe they were even open on Christmas Day. I don't understand the bad reviews. The salon was unusually slow which was concerning but they did an amazing job on my nails. Go to Ivy for acrylics, she is very detail oriented. By far the best prices i've seen at a nail salon in the area. I got a fill in, gel soak off, regular pedicure, and 10 min massage for $75. Ivy gives the BEST massages. Stay away! One of the worst manicures I've ever gotten. The nail technician filed my nails in a weird shape, totally opposite than the standard square I requested. When she painted my nails, she missed the sides of each nail and painted the skin rather than the nail. When asked to clean the lining of my nails, she gave an attitude. I understand that you can not always be picky, however, there should be a level of professionalism when you're paying city prices for a below average nail salon. read more

I popped in having had to attend a screening near by and realized my nails were not going to cut it. (no pun intended, HA!) My usual manicurist is on the UES and I wasn't about to pay ridiculous Chelsea "spa" prices. Found Fancie, wasn't expecting much, but guess what? I had a really good manicure by MICHELE and an AMAZING shoulder rub after the manicure -- the "thank you" while your nails are drying" shoulder rub. Next time I am in the neighborhood I will definitely go back and most certainly get a full on shoulder massage! One last thing: Every salon charges extra for quick dry 1.00-2.00 and two: if you're really tipping 2.00? Seriously? GTFO. You're going for a TEN DOLLAR manicure. Throw the woman a $5. The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon which was a little concerning but they did a nice job! I got a pedicure there and they took their time, did a nice job on th massage and really took care of me. As I was there a few other people came in men and women so it's a very gender neutral salon. Good selection of colors and gels and they were nice. If I was in the neighborhood, I'd probably go back for a round 2. read more

Clean nail salon with pleasant staff. I agree with another review--massages on hands and feet didn't last too long. They did use a hot towel, which was nice. Gel manicure + pedicure was $55 before tip. Keep in mind that this is a salon that will expect (as in they will most likely explicitly ask) for a good tip. It's only four stars because I think it's a bit pricey, but it was a nice place and they offered free removal of my gel manicure. read more

One Word: HORRIBLE! I went to Fancie nail&Spa on a Tuesday afternoon to get a gel manicure. Mind you it was my anniversary and wanted to get a quick polish before dinner. When i arrived everything was fine. I sat down choose my gel color and the nail technician went to work...or so i thought. When i say i have NEVER i mean NEVER had a gel manicure that lasted more then 20 minutes i mean it. This manicure, cleaning of natural nails alone, took a good 25, and the paint job another 20. My technician took her time on each and every nail. And though some would appreciate the time they put in, i appreciate someone who knows what they're doing and doesn't try to compensate their lack of talent with time. I was pissed just watching her. And then after she finally cuts the last of my cuticles she then proceeds to polish. Now this is the worst part. She pants unevenly, she takes at least 2 minutes on each nail(one coat), and gets messy with it and has polish all on my skin. I had to tell her to clean it up, but she didn't understand so of course she got her head manager or whatever. Anyways when i was done i was very unsatisfied with the work so i tipped $3 on a $32 gel manicure. That too me was generous considering the outcome. Good mani and pedi, very inexpensive, only $28 for both. Clean interior and friendly staff. The place isn't big and they were busy, but everyone was taken care of quickly, but quality wasn't sacrificed. The mani ended with a short but good shoulder rub. My manicurist was Diana. I came here for a quick $10 manicure. I was actually charged $11 for the manicure and the woman doing my nails asked me while charging my card asked how much I would tip her. Of course, I'm always happy to offer a tip to the person doing my nails, but I've never been outright ASKED. A tip is something given with good service. I said I'd tip $2 and she GROANED at me! I was so embarrassed. Then I said "ok, $3" to which she said "thank you". My manicure was subpar. She was careless filing my nails square and one is not straight but slanted. I paid $14.50 (that's with tax) and I left feeling embarrassed and hustled. I've gotten better $5 manicures with much kinder manicurists in Brooklyn. Would not go back. Thanks, Diana. read more

Why isn't this salon rated higher. I got a manicure here (they take card and allow you to put tip on it) and it is perfect. Everyone thinks they are gel nails because it's so shiny! This is my new go to place. And yes, you should be tipping a little bit more since the prices are so low. read more

I wouldn't recommend it. I called and inquired about a gel manicure and the woman said $30 on the phone. Great! Went to the bank, went to the salon, she looked me up and down and said $32. I glance at the sign behind her which clearly reads $30, but fine, I give her the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe the priced just changed or that I heard her wrong. The manicure itself went well and the tech was pleasant, but the front desk woman kept staring at me the whole time. As a Black woman I couldnt help but feel uncomfortable and wondered if this played into these circumstances. Regardless, I paid the $32 and gave a $7 tip, feeling slightly uneasy from the front desk woman's uninviting stare. As I arrived back at the office, I tell my assistant this story and he called to inquire about the price, only for confirmation: $30 for a gel manicure. I've been to my fair share of hole-in-the-wall nail salons. In fact, I've only been to those. This place, however, was one notch below that. From the moment I walked in I just felt uncomfortable. The woman doing my nails was very rough and I felt like she was rushing; fine when you still do a good job, but she dropped the cuticle pusher on the floor and picked it up and tried to continue pushing my cuticles with it. I had to ask her to clean it off... she laughed and did so. I was ready to walk at that point, but I told her to not push my cuticles back or cut them (I was very uncomfortable with that at this point) and just had her paint them. While drying I got to stare at live goldfish cramped into small globes that can barely swim because they have foliage in them. I will never be back. read more

WOW. i returned after my first glowing experience and im very disappointed by the change in service. went with my male coworker on a friday around noon and waited around 15 minutes. and then another 10 maybe. the work was still fast but she didn't cut one of my nails straight. the manicure was rushed and my coworker actually started bleeding. he got an apology, but no ointment or bandaid. i expected her to be a lot more apologetic than she was! if it had been a girl, she wouldn't hear the end of it! it looks like i will be hunting for a regular salon again. sad. read more

This place really does not deserve even one star. The women working here were rude, constantly complaining about my nails and overcharged me for the worst pedicure I ever got in my life. They also charged me for taking off my gel mani which is normal but they overcharged and kept saying i should pay for that fee and a manicure (even tho I didn't get a mani from them!!!). They did not use clean tools so I'm a little nervous and uncomfortable.... the woman kept complaining about taking off my gel mani which she overcharged me for. I walked in on a Friday afternoon and was the only customer there for most of the time. I requested a gel manicure, but as soon as I picked out my color the woman put the color sample up to my nail and said "no, that looks ugly", which I did not appreciate. I went to this location because it was listed as accepting spaweek gift cards. After I had a spa pedicure for my daughter and I , they tell me that they do NOT accept this card here and I had to pay for everything out of pocket. The people there were very sneaky and unclear about the price for services. I ordered a pedicure package for each of us that included a 10 minute foot massage, half way through the lady doing my daughters pedicure starts saying "five minutes,five minutes" i just nodded at her because I had no idea what she was talking about. She then continued to rub my daughters feet as the other lady rubbed mine. they both finished at the same time but they charges me extra for my daughter because apparently she had an extra 10 minute massage which is absolute BS! Once we were drying our nails, they came over to give me a backrub and charged me an extra $12 each for me and my daughter for back massages we never asked for. I walked in and asked for a service that was suppose to total $70, walked out paying $165 instead. they are thieves! I will never go back nor would I ever recommend them to anyone.
