I've been a long time customer at Fancy Hair Salon for so many years. The owner, Cassie, is my regular hair stylist and the only one that I'll let work on my hair. She's always so stylish with her hair and always trying out new styles for her clients to see. I currently reside in the Bay Area, but still seem to come back too Cassie. Whenever I'm in town, I'm sure to come see her. They get busy throughout the day, so an appointment in my opinion is essential. My whole family has been cutting there for some time as well because of Cassie's talents and that we trust her ability to cut hair. She's always done a great job in cutting my hair and knew exactly what I was looking for. She really takes time to shape the hair you'd like and I appreciate that very much. At times, she can take walk ins and that does push her schedule back, so remain conscious of that. I mean where are you gonna get a woman's haircut for $14!? I've been going for years and I believe the price has remained consistent. I think it's a great deal for the quality and the price. However, I found out with the 12$ I'm supposed to get my hair washed and without the hair wash, its supposed to be only10$. Anyways, it's 2 bucks, whatever. She (name?) was good and I was happy with the outcome but the entire time, she was talking to all her workers so I felt like she gave me like 50% of her attention. Story: I've been going to Hien ever since I can remember. I usually end up doing 1 of 2 hair styles with her and have had my hair highlighted four different times by her. Her husband usually blow dries and straightens my hair after she cuts it. Then she comes back and styles it towards the end and shows you a mirror for you to check out the back of your head. Price: $12 + tip, for shampoo, conditioner, dry, cut, blow dry, and style (can be straight or curled). Service: Friendly, easy-going, and very quick! Ambiance: It's your typical hair salon, but I think over the years, she's added a nail and wax service... I haven't tried those yet. There are hair products for sale as well as a flat screen T.V. with an episode of Paris By Night playing. Tip: Call for an appointment or else you will be waiting for up to 2 hours! This happened to me twhen I came during Prom season... man it was frustrating! But luckily, I had the afternoon clear and looked through all their magazines for hair style ideas. I got a wash, blow dry, straight ironing, and haircut...all that for 12 bucks. Only $12!! Where can you get a great cut at that price? My hair is thick and long too. Always ask for Dung, he's great! I asked him to trim only an inch and that's what he did. He's not crazy with the scissors. He listens very well. Make sure to make an appointment with him, he's the best--very popular. The only thing the owner knows how to do decently, is give haircuts. I made the huge mistake of coming here for highlighting long hair! They put some cheap color in my hair as a base which turned my hair completely orange! They were busy and let the color in my hair for way longer than intended. Then she did the worst highlight job I have ever had anywhere!! 3 strains far removed here and there and my bangs. It looked horrible. She saw how ugly it looked so she added toner that did absolutely nothing. The worst part is that she charged me EXTRa for the toner $20!!!! The whole thing cost me a whopping $105 and now I have to pay a lot more at a professional salon to get it fixed! On top of it all, in the middle of the pandemic, stylists are not all wearing masks, coughing customers who do not wear masks are allowed into the store and the place is filthy. WARNING before proceeding: 1) Do not expect them to be up to date with trendy styles like ombré, balayage, unicorn, ashy gray hair, clear glasses, and a tall iced caramel macchiato etc. 2) They do basic haircuts and layering really well. 3) They provide the service, and you leave. No nonsense small talk or sweet talk. Don't expect to be served tea or wine. 4) Go to Cassie for hair cuts, especially if you're a diva, but in the laziest way possible. 5) Place is kind of an eye sore. This is my childhood salon place and after ten years, decided to revisit it. I've been going frugal due to college, but wanted to be a diva for a day with my hair without the expensiveness of a high end salon. Cheap as hell hair cuts, no nonsense service and the people and decor are the same as I remembered it 10 years ago. Still dingy looking. Got my hair washed for 10 minutes. I asked for Cassie, and she cut my hair in less that 20 minutes. It was blow dried, straightened and looks fabulous. All for $14. Cassie is the owner btw. She's a diva. You'll catch her doing her makeup at times. So unless you don't need a fancy ass hair cut and a unicorn dye job and be served tea, wine, mimosa and be sweet talked to the whole time, go here for a hair cut. While I have not used any other service here, I can definitely say that you should not get your eyebrows waxed here. A lady left me a burn on my left eyebrow (the rectangular red shape in the right of this picture) because the wax was a little bit too hot. I couldn't tell until an hour later when the skin cooled, and I was very disappointed to see that. I advise that people who want eyebrow waxing to look not here but elsewhere. read more

Lost 6 inches of my hair after specifically asking to keep the length. Just wanted simple layers and a simple trim. Nothing special. My hair was hip length when I walked in. It was boob length when I walked out. I ran my hands through my hair as I walked out and couldn't help but start crying. She chopped off so much of my hair..If you don't know already, hair is very special to girls... $19 for both me and Nam's haircuts. $12 for women and apparently, $7 for men's. The haircuts aren't bad, but you really get what you pay for. I do like the new layers, but the length just makes me so sad. The wash shouldn't even be considered a wash. Loved this place. A client referred me here. I saw --Kathy-- she's the best. Let me start with the shampooing. I was nervous because she was pretty rough I mean she was literally scratching my head. But I kept quiet and decided to see how she was going to do my hair. I have medium/long length hair. I told her to trim an inch and add long layers. She did exactly that! She also straightened and teased my hair. I got a shampoo/cut/style all for $12!!! & I absolutely love my hair. Its so hard to find hair dresses that actually listen to you and do aa fantastic job! I knocked off a star for the cleanliness of this place and the fact that its obviously dated. But who cares! Where else are you going to get a $12 haircut/style & shampoo? Oddly enough, although I warned people that dyeing their hair here should be cautioned, I've come here every single time to re-dye my hair. I've dyed my hair red here quite a few times, although they're inconsistent. I've wanted it to be as Ronald McDonald red as possible, but came up a few shades short of that. My aunt and I had gotten our hair don't here, and had shown the hairstylist what we had wanted. Let's just say both of our cuts turned out much different from what we had expected, and the hairstylist did whatever she felt was best. To be fair, the prices are cheap, but you really get what you pay for here. If you're wanting a very basic cut and color, you'll be okay, but if you're needing layers or something very complicated, you're SOL. They're really nice here, but the salon is dated and so are the techniques. My layers ending up being really choppy and didn't blend nicely at all, and my aunt ended up getting a cut that looks exactly like "The Rachel" and had her hating herself. That style has been out since the 90's. And the color? That didn't turn out so well, either. Honestly, I can't blame them too much for this, because many other places that I've gone to have gotten the color wrong for much higher prices. I'll just say that if you're getting your color done in any salon, make sure that the lighting is as close to true daylight as possible. I tried to show her a picture and also verbally express to her what I wanted, and she basically ignored me! I don't live in Southern California anymore, and have yet to find a place like Fancy Hair up North. I went to Fancy Hair for layer cuts and highlights for many years, always asking for Cassie (hope the spelling is right). I was always happy with my cut and color, and have not liked any haircut I've received since then as much as I liked the cuts by Cassie. I am a simple girl and only ever got standard layer cuts with side swept bangs, and single color highlights that were subtle and mixed in with my hair, so I can't speak to anything besides the basics. But, for an awesome layer cut on Asian hair that looks great even when you wash and go and great natural looking highlights at a VERY REASONABLE price, check them out. It was great, I walked in and they took me in immediately. Washed my hair and cut my hair blow dry afterwards and straighten my hair all for 12 dollars!!! The lady I had was hoa. I told her just trim don't cut too short! She said ok. I ended up with a medium short hair! I didn't like the length but looks pretty good on me! She's nice and takes her time!
