Writing this as I am at the restaurant since it's been an interesting experience overall. 1. After we got seated with the reservation, there was 2 other tables that were already seated, and as more people were coming, the staff were overwhelmed immediately. There were two staff that were attempting to help wait on tables, but their English was very minimal. The manager was the only one attempting to pick up the slack with serving all the tables, so service was overall very slow 2. When we got our order taken after about 6 other tables coming in and fully getting their order, when we asked the manager to have the check split upon giving him our order (for convenience, after already giving him our drink orders), he was quick to respond "say that stuff at the end" and quickly just ran with the menus. I am trying to be understanding of the circumstances of the crowds, although we noticed his overwhelmed attitude constantly came out to surrounding customers he was helping as well 3. The reason I'm giving the restaurant a 3 star is where the food redeemed itself. Our party ordered a ribeye, the carbonara and the rigatoni dishes. They were portioned reasonably for the prices you pay, and the flavors in all our dishes were amazing. The cooks deserve the 5 star rating out of this whole experience 4. On the ambience: the restaurant was very warm (not in their control since it was a warmer day) although the don't seem to have well circulated A/C. They had all their doors open, which unfortunately brought in a lot of gnats indoors. Their outdoor seating would be better suited for enjoying this local. We've dined at Farfalla in Westlake Village many times, and in the past the food and service have consistently been excellent. That's why our most recent visit was especially disappointing. Service was noticeably slow, and while our waiter was kind and did his best to accommodate us, the overall experience fell short. Both my spouse and I ordered the halibut special, which unfortunately was very bland and lacked flavor. We ended up sending it back and settling for salads instead, which is not what you expect from an upscale Italian restaurant. It's unfortunate, because we've had such positive experiences here before. While we may consider giving it another chance in the future, there are so many great Italian options in the Westlake, Thousand Oaks, and Newbury Park areas that it may be difficult to choose Farfalla again. What a wonderful experience for lunch! We were seated out front in their outside dining area yesterday. The staff is 100% attentive to service and pleasantry. Our waitress was delightful and suggested splitting a caesar's salad, and sharing a margarita pizza. There was just two of us, and plenty to eat. Enough for both of us to go home with three slices each of pizza for our husband's! The caesar salad was EXCELLENT; One of the best ones I've ever had. The salad had just the perfect amount of dressing, served on top of crisp pita flat bread and complimented with freshly shaved, generous slices of high quality parmesan cheese. The minute it was served a waiter was waiting with a traditional wood pepper grinder in hand. Yes please!!! The salad was served with 2 delightfully seasoned, and hot out of the oven, bread crisps accompanied by a side car of a wonderful bean tomato spread. This girl was sold right there before the pizza arrived! The a pizza was timed perfectly and arrived as we were near finishing the salad. The pizza was hot out of their brick oven. Crispy thin, a perfect pizza crust; a classic margarita pizza bringing back my memories of my trips to Italy. I can now enjoy that experience right here in Westlake Village! 5 Star Service, wonderful food, a huge authentic menu selection and I will be back to try their dinner selections. Interesting spot, the food was actually really good, but the service was kind of mediocre. The ambiance was pretty nice, I particularly like their outside covered area (if it's not too windy). The pizza tasted very fresh and delicious, not a huge portion size either, a perfect starter or shareable dish for a few people. The that the couple of pastas we tried were pretty good too, but I forgot to take pictures and don't remember exactly which ones we ordered (faceplam). Farfalla really hit the spot and surprised me...started off with the promenade salad. love the crispy prosciutto (wish there was more)...then for my entree, i had chicken marsala with veggies and a side of pasta with garlic and oil. The marsala sauce was amazing.. One sister had chicken parm which was HUGE portion and the other sister had the salmon farfalle which was also tasty. I'm not surprised by the recent reviews because I had my own odd happy hour experience here on my first visit. I stopped by while running errands and saw a door sign advertising 40% off happy hour from 3:00-6:00. That being an amazing discount, I asked the hostess where happy hour applied and was told the bar, two-seat high tops, or the community table (larger tables are reserved for big parties). Outdoor seating gets 30% off. I chose the bar. I ordered a starter from the Mozzarella Bar menu and the Orecchiette Pugliesi for my entrée. The portions were generous and delicious, so I asked for to-go boxes. That's when things got strange. The bartender warned me that I'd asked for "too many" to-go boxes and said he normally would have to charge full price for both dishes. He explained, since I was new, he was "teaching me" the happy hour rules. I don't understand why these rules aren't clearly explained upfront. Many 2026 Yelp reviewers mention the same confusion. And the bread--just to be clear--it's not complimentary. It's $3, which also comes up often in reviews. What's most frustrating is that the owners don't seem to respond to any of this feedback, nor have they clarified their policies anywhere. I averaged out the star rating... 2 for the weird happy hour rules and 5 for the food and portion size so... 3 stars. read more

Our first time here in a while. Sat at the bar and had excellent service from Julian! Friendly, professional and knowledgeable of the menu. He gave us some great suggestions about the menu. We had the calamari appetizer which was very good, for entrees we had an excellent seafood risotto and chicken piccata. All around an excellent meal! Great food and service all around. I loved this restaurant my first visit. Then I brought my friends and had a bad experience. My first time, I came with a group of coworkers. We're in suits and mostly men in our group. We got great service. The second time, I came with 2 girlfriends and it was a totally different experience. We asked for water with no ice. All 3 glasses came with ice. When we reminded them we wanted no ice, the guy rolled his eyes and took the ice water back. When he asked us what we wanted to order, I asked what the specials were. And without saying anything, the server walked away. He eventually came back with an iPad to tell us the specials. My friend said we're ready to order and again, the server didn't say anything and walked away. He eventually came back again and took our order. When the salad arrived, it was missing pieces of bread that are usually on top. And we needed to ask for bread. It was odd we needed to ask for so many things on my 2nd visit and each time we asked, the server wouldn't say anything but just abruptly leave the table. The food was also not consistent, but still decent. I got the linguine pescatora each time. The sauce was thicker the first visit and watery the second visit. On the second visit the bread was very thin pieces that were mostly crust and cut into. It was quite odd. I no longer recommend this restaurant. Honestly the salad and pasta and wine we got on happy hour were great, and the bartender was lovely. And I was quite hangry when we arrived. I wanted to be comfortable and the waiter was kind enough to turn the heater on for us and adjust it down when it was too hot. Very accommodating to start. A few factors led to outdoors being uncomfortable though so we moved indoors and for happy hour the seating options are a little bizarre. The bar tables are off limits if there's less than 3 people (all empty btw). The bar was full so we had to cram into the community table which was uncomfortable space-wise and seating wise (small bar stools with no backs). We decided to skip happy hour just to be at a comfortable table. We asked for bread to start and the waiter kept forgetting even when asked multiple times. I asked again and asked if it's a menu item or if it's complimentary. He said they don't charge for bread. Never brought it. I could barely focus on the menu I was so hungry and frustrated. Finally the bar cleared out and we moved there. The bartender was super sweet and when we asked for bread she said it's $3 for happy hour (LOL WHAT) so we surrendered about the bread (but seriously just bring bread to everyone dining whether it's happy hour or not. Like a real Italian restaurant). We finally ordered and when the food came it was great. We each had a glass of wine, very good. I feel like the staff, management, service, and operations could be way more customer focused, and caring. Had a scarcity vibe and I probably won't be back or recommend it. All of the staff here seemed very friendly. Service 4/5 stars. More than anything I was super impressed by how extensive the menu is here. Wow! The menu is huge and has the best selection of appetizers, salads, pastas, pizzas and more. I love that this restaurant truly has something for everyone. Price point is what you'd expect in Westlake village. Not outrageous as the food was quality but not a cheap casual spot when it comes to the $$. For example a cocktail, small soup, and large entree salad ran us about $50 each after tip. Rate this for yourself. While it's a little pricy for me I'm willing to splurge when the food and drinks are on point which they definitely are here. Plus the cocktails were large glasses and my salad was massive so in a way not a bad value overall. If you dine here get a cocktail, their bartender is great and the cocktails are stunning. The Aperol spritz I got here was prettier than any other place I've ever gotten it. I'd definitely come back again for one of these! However, hard to pick as all of the drinks sounded good. Cocktails 5/5 stars. For the food I eyed a lot of tasty sounding pastas. However I opted for a soup and salad, wasn't disappointed in my choices. The pasta fagioli soup was perfect, tasted spot on. For my main I had a blackened salmon Cesar salad. Divine! The lettuce was perfectly tossed in a tasty Cesar dressing and my salmon was cooked to absolute perfection. My dream come true meal. The good is wonderful here and the portions are surprisingly generous. 5/5 when it comes to food. This restaurant delivered on all of my important criteria and was truly one of the better Italian restaurants I've been to in a while. I'm already craving this place and eager to go back. The good: the food. Everything I have ever had here has been absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the pennette with Santino sauce and Italian sausage. My favorite sauce, ever. The bad: the parking and the wait. These complaints are likely specific to Saturday nights, the only times we have been here. The lot is huge, but there are a lot of very busy businesses, including other restaurants in this location, and finding parking on a Saturday night is next to impossible. We circled for 15 minutes to find a spot. Ridiculous. Additionally, there are entire aisles in this large parking lot with signs indicating parking is limited to one hour. For crying out loud to wait for a table, even with a reservation was 45 minutes. 1-hr parking is ridiculous! This is a major detractor, and if I need to go somewhere on a Saturday night I am not going here again. As for the wait, if I have a 7 o'clock reservation, I expect to be seated at seven or very shortly thereafter. It was nearly 8 before our party was seated. Go here on a Monday or Wednesday, not Saturday. It was extremely loud and busy, a total zoo. Not an enjoyable atmosphere at all, and when you combine this with the 45 minute wait and the nightmare parking scenario, I'm crossing this otherwise fantastic restaurant off of my Saturday night go-to list. Also, the service is excellent. Our server was available, attentive, and very professional. I love that he showed up with an iPad to show us pictures of the day's specials! Very appetizing! I joined friends for a quick drink, ordered my usual Aperol Spritz and an appetizer--same thing I always get during happy hour. When the bill came, everything was charged at full price. I politely pointed out the mistake, but both the waitress and manager refused to adjust it, saying I hadn't been given a happy hour menu. That's a ridiculous excuse, especially for a loyal customer who knows the offerings and times by heart. Really disappointing treatment. Gabriel shows up again and when I asked him what's going on with the steaks this is the second time it happens to me he and says "maybe we don't know how to cook steak" I said how hard is it He said "maybe this food is not for you" what a jerk so I asked him I need to speak to the manager or the owner he says the owner is not here. He's coming in later on so I asked for his name and I told him I would be speaking to the owner. I called the restaurant twice to speak to the owner, but they hang up the phone. What a way to treat loyal customers this in a simple matter I'm not I'm looking for a free and I spend a lot of money there and I bring a lot of friends, but unfortunately, I won't be coming there again. I had every intention to call today my diet cheat day and have their spaghetti and sausage. It's very good! But when our waiter showed us the porter house steak meal special I had to have it. The atmosphere is very relaxing and service great. We made reservations and so glad we did. It was a full house today. This in itself tells you how good this place is. You get your $$$$ worth of food here. One meal feeds two. (Dependent on your appetite). I brought a doggie bag home for lunch tomorrow. We used to come here back in the day and remembered the Happy Hour being decent, so we went this week and what a difference from what I remembered. Had to wait a bit fir our drink order, wasn't so busy yet...but bartender was more concerned with saying hello and kissing coworkers. A few minutes later, no water yet, ordered our drinks. HH drinks were just OK, lemon in a gin and tonic?? It's supposed to be LIME!! Moscow Mule was bland, so had to be regular ginger ale used, instead of ginger beer. Totally different taste. So now if you order food for HH it's dine in only. I get it, they don't want people using the discount for take out orders. Heres the thing, we wanted to relax and drink while eating different dishes. Well...2 drinks, Salad and Pizza, just ok on the starters. Salad was drenched and pizza crust had no flavor. Not great. But then a couple entrees caught our eye so didn't want to fill up so asked for a to go container to take half of my pizza home and Id put salad on top of pizza to add flavor. Then indicated I would be ordering a couple more drinks and entrees. Was told Nope, not allowed. I said but we're eating here and I wanted to try other food and have more drinks. Was told its dine in only and I cant take leftovers home. SMH. So I'd have to only order what I can consume onsite, otherwise they would throw away any of my leftovers, not allowing me to bring any food home. He did bend a little and provided one pizza box. Threw my pizza in with wet salad together, because wouldn't give me another proper container. So I bounced, still hungry. Thing is I would have spent another $80-$100 at least for entrees and extra drinks, more if we got dessert we were considering but would want to bring leftovers home. Ended up going next-door to Marmalade, ordered some of their HH appetizers, drinks and some regular menu entrees. Food there was great, ended up eating most of our food but not under the pressure of finishing it all vs. not being able to bring it home if we didn't finish. And get this Marmalade provided all the leftover containers as needed. Although we did eat most of our food. We ate the Marmalade leftovers the next day and gave to pizza to our dog. We plan to go back to Marmalade this weekend. Just overall off vibe at Farfalla. For the record, i was very polite, still fully tipped (20%) and only briefly mentioned after asking fir a to go box, it didn't make sense if I was staying to eat and just didn't want to waste food that I couldn't eat if I ordered more food.
