Avocado toast was not good The bread was super mushy and avocado wasn't seasoned at all I was very disappointed especially since they are charging 17$ for this Plus, their coffee drink was completely overly Sweet
I came here today for brunch with my best friend for her birthday. We arrived around 11 a.m. and were seated right away since the restaurant wasn't busy yet. While we waited, I got us water, and because we were catching up, it took us about 15 minutes before we were ready to order. We both ordered iced coffees. I ordered the steak and eggs (medium with scrambled eggs), and my friend ordered the huevos rancheros. Around noon, the lunch rush started, and that's pretty much the last we saw of our waitress. Someone else brought our food, and I immediately noticed two issues. First, the eggs were overcooked. The presentation is beautiful, but it's not practical. They serve the eggs in a cast-iron skillet, which continues cooking delicate foods like eggs after they leave the kitchen. Before I even flipped them over, I could tell from the bubbles on top that they had overcooked. Sure enough, the bottom was browned and overdone. Then I cut into my steak. I ordered it medium, but it came out well done. It was tough enough that it took effort just to cut through it. After finally flagging someone down, my waitress returned, and I explained the problem. She asked me to hand back the entire serving board so they could remake the steak. That honestly surprised me. The only issue was the steak, so I simply moved my toast onto the board and handed her the plate instead. It was a small interaction, but it made me feel like the staff lacked experience handling situations like this. The replacement steak was much better, and I genuinely enjoyed the potatoes and the garlic butter that came with the meal. Unfortunately, the service never recovered. From the time our food arrived until we left around 1 p.m., nobody checked on our table, refilled our water, offered more coffee, or brought the check. It was frustrating because I saw our waitress walk around with water for other tables but didn't come to us at all. I eventually had to flag down another employee, who apologized, offered us water to go, and brought the check. Ironically, that's when our original waitress finally came back saying she'd bring it. Whether it was poor communication between staff or simply inattentive service, I honestly don't know. I usually prefer speaking with a manager directly rather than leaving a negative review, but getting anyone's attention was difficult enough that by the end of the meal I was simply ready to leave. I really wanted to like this place. The restaurant is beautiful, and it's easy to see why it's become popular on Instagram. Unfortunately, it felt like the focus was on creating an aesthetic experience rather than a great dining experience. For two people, the bill came to about $65 before tip, and it just didn't live up to the hype. The food alone is a 3-star experience, but the service is ultimately why I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars. A note for management: I'd strongly reconsider both staff training and how certain dishes are served. There's no practical reason to serve scrambled eggs in a cast-iron skillet when the residual heat continues cooking them after they leave the kitchen. Just as importantly, servers should be ensuring the entire dining experience is enjoyable not just taking an order and disappearing until it's time to drop off the food. Guests shouldn't have to flag someone down for refills or even the check. If you're looking for a trendy brunch spot with great photo opportunities, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're looking for thoughtful cooking, attentive service, and a restaurant where execution matches the presentation, I'd skip this one.
I found this restaurant on Yelp and was eager to try it. After looking at their photos, I noticed they offered quite a wide selection of food. I waited about 40 minutes to be seated, as I arrived during a very busy period. The restaurant has a cozy, rustic-modern cafe vibe that leans casual but is thoughtfully designed. However, it was very rowdy by the time I was seated. Let's talk about the service. My server was one of the slowest I've ever had. It took her about 15 minutes just to bring out our drinks, and she lacked attentiveness. She didn't seem able to handle multitasking. I ordered the chorizo burrito and some pancakes. The chorizo burrito consisted of chorizo, scrambled eggs, melted cheese, and home fries (country-style potatoes). The home fries inside the burrito were dry and had a hard texture, I honestly felt like I might hurt my jaw chewing them. The chorizo itself had a mildly spicy, smoky flavor. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either. The pancakes had a buttermilk flavor and were served with fresh fruit on top. However, they were dry and tough, and the flavor was very lackluster. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. From slow service to basic-tasting food, I don't see myself giving this restaurant another try. Ratings: Service - 2/5 Ambiance - 4/5 Chorizo Burrito - 3/5 Pancakes - 2/5
Cute restaurant. Came for the 20% off discount, but I'd pay full price for this meal anyway. Standard raised by the chicken and waffles + strawberry chicken salad (pro tip: swap for shrimp!). Caroline was our amazing server. Farm Table treats us right. Validated by these frappes!
If I could give this restaurant a-1 I would! I should have known when I was seated w/o a menu it wasn't going to be good! We were sat waiting for 10mins for a server to attend to us. Finally one came up to us and asked if we needed anything. I said yes we need menus. She asked if we seated ourselves we said no. Then asked why don't you have a menu. We told her we were seated and she didn't give it to us! Then had to ask someone if we sat ourselves. Then another 10mins go by we get a menu. We order our food and once received, my eggs were WELL done when I asked for over medium. The server takes my food. By the time I get my food my husband had already finished his. They give me my plate back and our server comes up to me grabs my plate while I'm cutting my eggs and said they gave you someone else's food. Mind you it was the exact plate I ordered rojos chilaquiles. My eggs were still over cooked but I gave up on fixing it so I was going to eat it. While the server is standing by my table holding my plate of food the other server is arguing w me on how over medium eggs are cooked! I had to explain to her the difference between over easy and over medium. She still continued to argue w me stating I was wrong. while all this is happening our server was holding my food while she is on her mic verifying who's food they gave me. My husband was telling our server to just give me the food since it was what I ordered and remake the other persons food. She didn't listen because she was speaking in Spanish to the other server. The server who grabbed my plate told the lady who argue with me about how eggs are cooked said in Spanish to just make her fresh eggs. But the server stated no and continued to argue w me all while the server had my plate of food in her hands!! I ended up telling her to take my food off the bill and to give us our check while she's decides to finally walk away w my food! She never came back to us so we went up front. Mind you I didn't drink my coffee and my husband finished his food we were charged for my coffee, my husband meal, and his coffee. The sad part of all this is this was my first time at this place and I was so excited to eat here. Worst experience ever!! If I was you save your money and go eat somewhere else!
I went here to for a birthday brunch and the food was just amazing! I ordered a Cali Breakfast Burrito with a iced vanilla latte with horchata cold foam, and it was so so good! Additionally the service from our server, Carolina, and everyone there was perfect. I especially loved how well put together and on brand the place was. It was definitely aesthetically pleasing for sure! Will be coming back for regular brunch soon!
We waited a while before getting seated. I normally do not mind the wait, but it wasn't busy and there were enough servers to seat us and manage the front. It just seemed a little disorganized. It took time for them to take our order too, but when our dishes arrived, they were delicious! I ordered the Huervos Rancheros and I loved it, my husband ordered the California Breakfast Burrito, and he thought it was good and hearty. My daughter ordered the Nutella Strawberry waffle and she thought it was amazing. Overall, I'd give this place another shot since the place is lovely and clean, just a little short with the service.
What a great breakfast spot in an area that really needs exactly this! The menu was fairly extensive with breakfast offerings on one side and lunch on the other. They had a great coffee menu and a limited but well curated local draft beer selection. They also had wine, listed by varietal. Their service was quick and attentive and the ambiance was homey and inviting. Felt more like Granada Hills than the courthouse stretch of Van Nuys. There was a sizable free parking lot in the back and metered parking out front. Definitely a repeat!
This is my second post and that's totally fine ! This place is so wonderful and delicious that I wasn't sure if I wanted to share. All of the items were order came out hot and fast but soooooo fresh and filling. The service was an amazing. They do a great job using all of the workers to check on the guest and attend to the needs. They are kind and polite as well as efficient. The inside just tops off all of the other parts and makes it that much more wonderful. You get to sit and enjoy with that feeling of being rushed through . It's so calming and private with the decor and theme that runs through . Plenty of seating and space. You don't feel right on top of others and plenty of room for a group .
First off, this is a beautiful location with lots of light. The service was excellent, and everyone was friendly even though it was quite busy. Unfortunately, there must have been some kind of miscommunication as I ordered my chilaquiles with over medium eggs (because runny whites gross me out) and they came over hard, almost baked. I didn't have the time to deal with it, so just pushed them off to the side and focused on the rest of the meal. From reading reviews it seems like this might be a common problem?
Came today for the first time with my friend. Cute little spot. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad which was huge! Very fresh ingredients with shredded chicken. I couldn't even eat half. He ordered the avocado toast with two poached eggs. I tried one his red potatoes they were really good. The wait was very long. They had a good amount of customers but it took like 30 mins to get our food. Service was friendly and there was parking on the side street. We both enjoyed the fresh food and I have leftovers for dinner do always a plus! I Wil come try something else again soon. read more

Food is good BUT I don't think they hold up to what the menu says. For instance, today I got "The Coop" that said it comes on a brioche bun (frankly the reason I got it) but once I took a bite, I realized it was just a hamburger bun! I would have sent it back but at that point, I was too hungry. One time, I got the avocado toast which is really just an open faced sandwich. I sent it back. As a huge avocado toast enthusiast, I was ashamed at their rendition. I really like the vibe here. It's a breath of fresh air in Van Nuys. I just don't like paying 16 for a sandwich on a hamburger bun (granted it came with a drink and the sweet potato fries were a 3.50 add on). But there are other good things like their breakfast burrito and tuna sandwich. read more

I love this place! I actually saw this restaurant on Yelp, and based on the pictures I decided to check it out. The area was alright, not the safest place to be walking around, but it is fine for an LA local. As soon as you walk in, it's like you're in a different area. The interior of the restaurant is completely high end and renovated with great design and architectural beauty. The gentleman taking our order was so kind and friendly, he helped us choose what to get because everything looked so good! He even made my mocha coffee the way I asked for it. I wish this place was closer to me, I'd be here all the time! Parking is street parking, so make sure to fill the meter. I highly recommend the avocado toast and the French toast, both were great options. read more

All around great breakfast. Coffee was good and strong. The atmosphere was great. We found a nice spot to stop in when traveling from So Cal to Nor Cal. Bathrooms were clean. Not too crowded. We will be back! read more

Pricey, but delicious. Pay attention to the menu bc a few items are only served on certain days. Like eggs Benedict, which I was bummed to learn is only served on the weekend if I remember correctly. However, the blueberry pancakes were massive and delicious. I also had their bacon, omg, you need to get it. So amazing, if you're a bacon fan. Nice open layout, order at the counter, sit down, pick up when the buzzer goes off. Not exactly relaxed service setting, but it works. Not terribly fast, so it feels strange that they don't wait the tables. But nonetheless, the food is tasty. Update: received a message from the business owner that they got rid of the buzzer system and are back to waiting the table. Yay for service! Came to try this place for the first time. Atmosphere is nice and it's cute. You go to the register to order and pay, then you gotta pick up your drink. I guess they just can't be bothered to bring it to you. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes to share and a pumpkin spiced latte. The latte didn't taste like pumpkin spice, it was just a latte. The meal portions are quite large but nothing special about them. My friend ordered some farmers breakfast plate which we shared. The entire plate lacks seasoning and their bacon looks crispy but is actually really damn chewy. Overall, I'd say this place is basic, basic, and basic. read more

I heard about this place from a friend and gave it a try. Wasn't let down! The staff was nice and friendly and attentive. I got the french toast and it was a big serving w/ french fries, bacon, eggs, and toast and it was pretty fair priced compared to other brunch spots I've been to. My friend got the egg's Benedict and she also enjoyed her food. Highly recommend their french fries! The inside is also really pretty and aesthetic, reminds me of a farmer's market! read more
We were really excited to check out another new breakfast place in the area. The interior was nice and new. Walking in seemed almost like a Mendicino Farm. Everything seemed very promising and I like the concept. We ordered the avocado toast and the "pig" salad. Presentation was good, but in terms of flavor both were just ok and a bit bland. For the price I would have expected more. The avocado toast literally was poached eggs in a cup, avocado, ricotta cheese, and toast. It was a bit bland so we had to use a lot of salt and pepper. The salad had bacon, bleu cheese, eggs, and an interesting cilantro dressing. That being said, the flavor was a bit too lemony and not that memorable. Really great, solid food! I had the avocado toast with well done eggs and my husband had the breakfast burrito. We both really enjoyed our food and the service was great too! We will absolutely be back! Can't wait to try other things in the menu. The cookies looked pretty incredible. Brioche French toast sounds Devine and so many other brunch menu items. Ordered burger and the spicy chicken sandwich, both were unsatisfactory. The grill marks on the burger were burnt to the point that it left a bitter taste and I had to take it out just so I can eat it. This is after I ordered medium. The spicy chicken sandwich was ok but the batter was a little burnt, too. The fries were good though. Decor was nice and looked clean overall. But the "flowers" on a mason jar with moldy (algae) water was not appetizing. I don't really understand why would someone put water on fake flowers; water that obviously wasn't being replaced on a regular basis. Overall, it was between ok and mediocre. Finally I had the chance to experience the Wonderful menu. We ended up dining inside, yelp said only curbside or pickup but to our surprise it was open for dine in. This is the first time actually over a year and the plan was to go to Norms but that place was so packed that we decided to leave. I had always been wanting to try this Restaurant from all the nice reviews on yelp. You place the order at the counter, they provide a number for any table that is available. My husband decided to order the steak and any style eggs along with your choice of cajun fries! The steak was well seasoned, very tender and juicy- no need for steak sauce. The cajun fries were perfectly crunchy on the outside and just the right amount of seasoning. I ordered the famous Brioche French toast, it was Deliciously sweet seasoned with powdered sugar! The right amount of Berries with maple syrup in the middle so that you can pour over or dip. I had the regular coffee with half and half- they provide it on a disposable container. I will definitely be back to try their other plate's on the menu. The plus is that there is free parking outside of the building and social distancing! read more

Seat yourself, parking is street only metered and a nightmare during busy hours, food was good but overpriced. My meal was forgotten and had to wait an additional 20 minutes after my family was served to receive my food. That on top of the 25 mintues it took to get their order. I ordered the baklava- amazing Chocolate banana espresso- really good and different, not overly sweet but rather pricey, and the steak and eggs which I haven't eaten yet because I had to get this review out while I'm fuming. Just got my food. No apology or oops just a sad excuse of "here's this because the first steak wasn't good enough" really? Smh I ordered my eggs over easy and aside from everything coming out late and cold, the eggs looked poached. Added the 2nd star because the food was really good. The steak was delicious and the steak sauce was superb. Can't knock that, but the service was beyond unacceptable. read more

I have been here a few times prior to covid and it was great, a lil pricy but great food and coffee. Went back today and paid $17 for the avocado toast that was to have avocado mash, lettuce, poached egg,...the works. What I got was extremely disappointing. There was a teaspoon of avocado mash, the poached egg was over cooked, the bread was so saggy and not toasted it must of been sitting in the kitchen long before it was brought to my table. I'm not one to complain to management but when you are paying $17, yeah I'm gonna say something. The manager did not even know what came on the toast himself....ate what I could and walked right on out. Waste of $27 between coffee and toast... read more

Loved this cute little place in Van nuys. Came here for coffee and was pleasantly surprised at how cute the decor and set up was inside. Wish I knew the girls who took my order, they were so friendly and welcoming! Coffee was good! I ordered the macchiato it hit the spot. I will definitely be back to try the food! Looked delicious! I do have to say I like how careful they were with covid distancing. Staff does wear masks. read more

First timer. I saw the reviews and wanting to give this place a try. We were in the area so we stopped by. Ordered the Cali burger which consists of lettuce, tomato, pickles and avocado. But the avocado is a spread not sliced. Not a fan. Bun was soggy so I didn't eat it. Chips were good. Not worth the $11.75 for this meal. Hubby got the chicken sandwich with roasted potatoes. When he got his food the potatoes were cold. They were happy to replace them. Service was good tho. Metered Street parking. Not sure if I would come back. read more

Came to this place since it was highly rated and had pretty good reviews for the most part. The outside of the restaurant says it's under new ownership so I'm not sure if it was better before or what, I personally didn't have the best experience. Upon walking in it was empty so my group and I were the only people in there. The place was incredibly clean and was cute and quaint in decor. The reason I only give two stars is due to the service and the food, my friend and I had both of our orders wrong and they had to be corrected twice. After waiting for our food two times I was really hoping it would be worth the wait; unfortunately the food was lacking in flavor, I had to keep adjusting the salt and pepper trying to make it better, but the food was just not good at all. I had two friends with me and both their food as well was so bland and just not prepared well. The prices are pretty high for what you get. WOWWWW!!! Hadn't had a breakfast this delicious in a long time! Let me first start by saying, when you enter Farm Table you notice how clean and spotless everything is. You are greeted by the owner and the workers all in masks. The restaurant decor was like dining at a farm with wooden tables and decorative grass. We all ordered a variety of breakfast dishes from the menu. Everyone loved their food. My Hass Avocado Toast with breakfast potatoes were yummy! The potatoes had shaved parmesan cheese with a hint of spice. Makes me want more. The portions were huge. I had to take some to go. The cappuccino had a cute cactus design on the foam. I definitely will be returning to try more of their menu items. I'd definitely recommend to everyone. read more

A gem in the ghetto. I was shocked entering this restaurant because I felt like I was in West Hollywood or Echo Park at some hipster/boujee place. The ambiance is a cute, farmhouse vibe with lots of open space. The food was presented beautifully! So why only 4 stars? Well, in a place that offers brunch, I think mimosas should be on the menu. While that was only minor concern (I can do brunch w/o the alcohol), there was no gluten free bread. I think in a place like that, there should be options in times like today. They did offer alternative milk options, which was fab (I ordered the almond milk with my cinnamon roll latte)! Since there were hardly any gluten free options, I was limited on what I could eat. So with all of my accommodations/requests, my order came out wrong. The worst part? The waitress apologized and said that it was probably their mistake (uhuh), but that I (yes me) should have spoke louder. Hmmmm, that is a terrible apology! No need to apologize at all if that's the case. The food was delish though, so I quickly got over that! read more

Order the steak & eggs, the kids French toast and the breakfast scramble with a fountain drink and drip coffee. The breakfast scramble with bland, but was exactly how my wife likes omelettes. The steak was ordered medium rare and came out sliced and well done. Send it back and the came back well done again and cut into slices. Not sure if the chef knows what medium rare looks like. The kids French toast was not hot and barely any powdered sugar. I would not recommend this place. read more
