Had such a good experience here while waiting for my flight. I got lucky and there was no line so I ordered right away. Had an order of wings, it comes with two dipping sauces of your choice since the wings come naked ( just battered and fried). The wings were super crispy, fresh and flavorful. A 10/10 for the great food! My other order was the tomatoes bisque soup and that was also very tasty! Thankfully the restaurant was not full and the food came out quick and fresh! The vibe is super casual at this restaurant with A great play on southern food. They have a great selection of on tap and canned options for drink. I sitting here at gate C4 thinking of a meal before departing on a long flight. This site is conveniently close and has a bar. I decide to give it a whirl and catch up on my Yelp reviews. After sitting at the table for a few minutes I realize you have to order from the counter. The guy you see running around is just busing tables and delivering prepared meals. Go to the counter and order a pulled pork po-boy and a drink. $34 after tax. Want to add a tip??? The drink was strong which is good. The meal arrives 10 minutes later. A burger! I look at the receipt and sure enough she put it in wrong. I said pulled pork, she repeated pulled pork but hamburger it is. The burger was good but greasy. Fries are fries. Jalapeño slaw taste like sliced jalapeños and cabbage. No flavor for the dressing. I sat there for thirty minutes. The server never came by, didn't clear the dirty dishes, didn't offer water or anything. Makes me regret my 18 percent tip and inspired this review. Too bad it's the only real option in the C gates. Probably one of the best breakfast I have had at an airport. I'll be honest, I have never tried chicken and waffles as I never understood that combination but OMG I have been missing out. There were limited restaurants by my gate in terminal 1, but I was pleasantly surprised by the menu Farmer Brown had to offer. In addition the restaurant was open and spacious (unlike many airport restaurants) so I was completely sold on have my first meal of the day/lunch at this location. It was mid day and not too crowded so I was seated within seconds upon my arrival. Once I sat, the server was there in no time with the menu and food suggestions. I ordered the chicken and waffles which arrived before my drink and in less than 2 minutes. Probably pre-made but I get they try to be quick since folks have a flight to catch. The waffle was crisp and airy with molasses syrup (I prefer maple) but still decent. The chicken was crispy and seasoned good but I added a ton of their hot sauce to add more flavor. The chicken piece was half breast and full thigh. When I completed my meal the server swiped my card in front of me on a portable card reader which I love as it makes the process quicker and your card doesn't leave your possession. All in all the food was decent, my only suggestion of improvement is on the waffles. I've have had better. read more

My husband said it was his favorite airport meal ever. There was so much shrimp in his sandwich! It's the only restaurant open in this part of Terminal 1 so beware of lines and be nice to the staff! read more

Great service and the food is really great!! My husband and I had the chicken and waffles and they were really great! The waffles were light and fluffy! And the chicken was fried really good... was a little skeptical at first because the chicken didn't seem like it was fried very well but to my surprise it was! We also got the Kentucky coffee and boy oh boy was this drink strong! It's definitely not for the faint of heart. It is strong with a little bit of a sweet kick. The best part was that it only took our food about 10 minutes to come out after ordering! The staff is super friendly and this place is very clean. Nice little place to stop in if you have a layover and grab a bite to eat. I would definitely eat here again if I had to fly out of this terminal just hope it's during the afternoon because I want to try the lunch menu and they don't serve lunch until 10:30 am! Very satisfied with my visit here. I was seated immediately and order was taken shortly after. I was in and out in about 45 minutes. I had the chicken and waffles. Portion wise, the waffle could've been bigger to reflect the price but it's an airport and to be expected. The waffle was delicious with the syrup over it. it had a sweet cinnamon honey kind of taste to it and I was pleasantly surprised . The chicken was crispy and juicy. I tried adding the syrup on top of the chicken to see if it would make it taste even better...but preferred it without. Reading the other reviews, very happy with how my meal turned out. A+ for effort in bringing it to SFO but wow, the workers there are super slow and they seem so confused to who's order is which when the food is ready. I could not wait to write this review... it still makes me so upset to think about the shady waitress that works here. Never in my life have I politely asked a question about a menu item and had a waitress roll her eyes at me like I'm an idiot. I hope she gets fired. However, I won't bump down the review too much for a disgruntled employee. Fortunately because I was traveling by myself, I was seated right away. The place was pretty crowded with everyone's suitcase next to their seat, but it didn't bother me. I ordered a Bloody Mary and a sausage & sweet pepper scramble, which came with a side of potatoes. Both were quite tasty! This isn't the first place I would make a bee-line to if I was traveling through SFO Terminal 1 but there are limited options anyways, so I might end up here again. I enjoy crappy airport restaurants for the mere laughable experience, for the absurdity of paying $16.50 for a vegetable sandwich. I don't know why, but I sincerely do get a kick out of it. That being said, Farmerbrown does a relatively decent job, even by airport standards, with fair service and tasty enough, edible food. As a vegan/vegetarian diner it can be challenging to navigate a southern food restaurant menu, but Farmerbrown did have clearly labelled options for both vegans and vegetarians, which is fabulous. While I would have enjoyed the Vegan Jambalaya, I refused to pay $22.50 for some veggies in a tomato broth. No. I would not do it. So, instead I ordered the Vegetarian Sandwich for $16.50. I saved $6, but the sandwich was literally grilled broccoli, carrots and green beans between two buns. I enjoy odd sandwich concoctions, but this one was new to me. The bun was good, but, seriously, wtf. A broccoli sandwich. Our server was friendly and prompt, which is all you can hope for in an airport setting. Farmerbrown is really one of the (very) few options you have here, so you might as well enjoy it if you can. Just be sure you are prepared for the price tag. read more

The closest thing I've had to home cooked soul food in a while. My server was an absolute ray of sunshine and she made a great recommendation for lunch. I decided on the fried chicken with mac and cheese and seasonal vegetables. I sipped my lemonade iced tea and listened to the likes of Sade and Anthony Hamilton crooning in the background while I waited for my order to arrive. The chicken was gorgeous; fried to a beautiful golden brown and absolutely picture perfect. The skin had such a beautiful crunch to it and the meat was so juicy and delicious. The chicken was lightly, but adequately seasoned and decorated with a fresh thyme sprig. I betcha they've got somebody's grandma back there running the kitchen. The mac and cheese was piping hot, and served in a small cast iron dish. They used shells instead of actual macaroni, which was great for me, since the shells tend to hide delicious little pockets of cheese. Yum! The seasonal vegetables included haricots verts, carrots, broccoli and thinly sliced squash seasoned lightly and sauteed in butter and olive oil. A fantastic recommendation on the part of my server. So here I am eating at the airport again. You would think I would know to pack a lunch or run and get food from somewhere else. But I decided to try a place at the San Francisco airport that I've not tried before. I looked at the menu and it is a southern menu so my choices were limited because I'm not a big fan of spicy food. I ordered the pulled pork which came with the jalapeño coleslaw and I agreed to the four dollar up charge for the sweet potato fries. When my meal arrived it looked very nice. The fries were stone cold and there were 15 of them. Yes, there were so few I counted them. That is over 25 cents per tiny fry! They did not bring the lemon aoli that comes with the sweet potato fries. My waiter did not return to check on me. It is a Sunday afternoon and there are about six open tables. After I was finished eating my pulled pork sandwich, I did flag someone down and let them know that the fries were cold. They did offer to bring me more fries, but due to the fact that there were so few of them in the order I declined. They then offered to take the additional four dollar up charge off the bill. My balance came to 21. 85 before tip so all together this was a $25 meal. The Diet Coke at $3.75 was tasty but was only 8 ounces . I thought that the coleslaw was a very bland despite being a jalapeño coleslaw. So all in all a disappointing meal. Soon after Jamie W. and I tried this airport eatery, we found out sadly that the original Farmerbrown was closing. Indeed it did close last month, and I'm rather forlorn that this was to be its lasting legacy. At SFO where Perry's, another SF-originated restaurant of some history, used to be and eventually closed. If this operation is supposed to be a reflection of the Tenderloin epicenter of soul food, we didn't see much of that soulfulness in their breakfast menu. Sure, there were Chicken & Waffles but rather absurdly priced at $18.95, and I also saw the $15.95 Angel Biscuits & Gravy with scrambled eggs. Neither appealed to me at the god forsaken hour of 5:30AM, so I ordered the meh-worthy $14.75 Vegetarian Scramble, which was just a couple of scrambled eggs mixed with spinach and topped with a few avocado wedges. I asked if I could have extra fresh fruit instead of the breakfast potatoes. They complied, but the fruit serving was still paltry (photo: http://bit.ly/2QxmXNr). I frankly should have asked for unbuttered wheat toast instead of the angel biscuit which had the subtlety of a pumice stone. Dining options were limited at that hour, and a bevy of passengers in aggressive pre-boarding mode were gunning for the seats that were available. There was a line at the bottom of the menu that stated, "Soul, after all, is a way of life, not just biscuits & gravy." Hmmm, I didn't really get that vibe from the offerings they were providing for the roller luggage masses. What does one do in SFO when they've got hours before their flight and company money to spend? My answer to that was sitting down for a nice long lunch at Farmerbrown. And when I say long, I mean LONG. Although I was seated quickly (table for one please), my meal ended up taking around one and a half hours of mostly waiting. Thankfully I was in no rush and didn't mind waiting too much, but the man next to me angrily stormed out after waiting for his salad for 40 minutes. I had the chicken & waffles and mac & cheese, which were both yummy. My server emanated southern hospitality, but she seemed to be much too busy with all of the other tables that she had to take care of. It took a while to get her attention and pay on the iPad. This one of only two sit down locations in Terminal C at San Francisco airport. I was very impressed with the speed of my food as well as the taste. If you know my reviews when it comed to french fries I like them extra crispy with no salt. Farmer Brown delivered on both...not what you expect for airport food. Burger was tasty with fresh tomatoes and arugula salad. No diss to Farmer Brothers...but to San Fransisco airport for charging a tax to restaurants to cover healthcare for airport employees. Farmerbrown is right by gates 41 & 42 in terminal 1 of the airport. On a Sunday morning around 9:30 AM, they were packed and we had to wait a few minutes for seats to become open. Our server was interesting--kind of frenetic but he was probably still learning the ropes of the menu and restaurant. They only have a few breakfast options & they do not show any sides on the menu/things that you can order a la carte. I'm not a huge breakfast person, and neither is my mom, so we each asked for a side of bacon and a side of potatoes--this bacon and potato combo is $9.98. When the bacon first came out, it was quite pink (not pictured), so we sent it back in hopes of getting browner bacon. The browner bacon tasted good. The potatoes had a nice kick to them and were pretty good, but seems slightly undercooked in the middle. My dad ordered the farmer's plate and thought it was ok. It has pretty small portions and literally 3 pieces of fruit. I tried some of his biscuit and it was nice and hot and moist. Overall, I'd say this place is decent and probably your best bet if you're a big hot breakfast person. read more
